Eve, Florida is mandated by law to complete their recount by Thursday night. The local election heads are instructed to set the counters on the machines back to zero and start over. And supposedly, there are still some outstanding absentee ballots that will be coming in over the next few days to week.

Try this little scenario --- from Christopher Ruddy at NewsMax.com.
It’s 1992. Two investigative reporters named Jim and James Collier are writing a book on voter fraud in South Florida and the Miami-Dade area. I don’t know the details, but somehow these two writers find themselves in a warehouse rented by a Miami political candidate. Lo and behold, they find some preprinted voter ballots in that warehouse. That, my friends, is not exactly legal – or, as they might say in South Florida – Kosher.
According to Chris Ruddy the Collier brothers, on the advice of their editor, seize the illegal ballots and present them to the State’s Attorney.
Here’s where it gets a bit odd.
You would expect the State’s Attorney to immediately initiate an investigation into how a candidate happened to have preprinted election ballots stored in his warehouse. Well, that’s not what this State’s Attorney did. Instead, the State’s Attorney had the Collier brothers arrested.
The State’s Attorney? Well, it’s a her, and she doesn’t have that particular job anymore. Let’s just say that she was rewarded for a job well done. Her name is Janet Reno.

Sorry, I would go and on about how shrill you sound condeming half a continent and one third of a billion people because of what you see on TV or because you once got a quarter-pounder with no pickels, but I'm too tired, and you're too unconvincing. As for Florida -- Holy God. Last night the counts were within about 500 votes! Tell me this isn't going to come down to one guy named Bubba in Broward County who sells aligator meat from a booth next to a canal and personifies everything Flagg hates about buck-toothed callow Americans. Don't do this to me Florida.
I do smell a scandal here somewhere. Maybe not now, but years later I predict we'll be talking about this much akin to how we discuss the Kennedy/Nixon vote.
What if we just have a "Do-Over"? It worked for "Kick the Can", it should work for this.

Bush Will Never Be President
If GWB "wins" the election by this Florida recount, which is being overseen by a Republican, in a state run by his own brother, I will never recognize him as the legitimate president and I hope that most of America feels the same way. Gore won the popular vote and electoral college - Bush just happens to have a father who used to be head of the CIA and who knows how to fuck with an election. This is a very sad day for America.

According to Bob Poe, state chairman for the Florida Democratic Party, Democrats had received reports of an instance in which a preliminary voting count this morning for Gore in Volusia County, reported by Florida election officials, actually decreased by about 10,000 over time, before climbing again.

Well, if we must talk politics, I agree that Bush's daddy's CIA experience may have taught junior how to hijack an election. But what do we do about that?
A coworker had a GREAT suggestion. Go back to how it was in George Washington's day, the winner became President and runner-up became VP, even though they were from different parties. Half the country wants Bush as president, the other half wants Gore, this way we'd have both, Gore could keep the religious right from getting TOO powerful, and Bush could keep Gore's expansionist government tendencies in check. It doesn't really matter which one is Prez and which is VP, does it?
Problem solved. Now no more political talk, let's get back to talking about what's REALLY important: panties!
