SouthEastern US Lit Gathering?

No it sounds fine. I also liked the Pern series but I can see what you mean by it getting the same. The first three (Dragonquest, Dragonflight and the White Dragon) were the best, but I also loved the crystal singer series. A very original concept. I have read a lot of fantasy and Tolkein is my favorite author (can hardly wait for the new Middle Earth book coming in March). For SciFi I stick to the classics, Heinlein and Asimov.

Lord, 21st level bard, I'd like to see that campaign. LOL,

It's been ongoing for more than 20 years so it's not as impressive as it sounds. LOL.

Heinlein was my all time fav!

Asimov was special too!

Hehehehe you and me...I have been gaming with the same people over 25 years

Interesting. I wouldn't have guessed that.

Oh yes. We run different campaigns but I do have a 27th level fighter who I get to play once in a great while.

Usually marriages and babies make most gamer groups go poof! It's quite a feat to keep one going.

Your visual image certainly doesn't project gamer geek btw. You come off as truly refined.

I'm pretty bored with D&D most of the time these days. I've played all the character classes I want to. It's pretty much a been there done that thing for me but my husband and daughter enjoy it and hey, pizza! Every now and then I find a rich vein of interest to mine.

I was very into the White Wolf Vampire the Masquerade game but then they started writing the end of it. My guy quit running it. *sob* They also wrote a semi new system which requires new books. I don't like that sort of thing.

I liked the play I got of White Wolf's Werewolf game too but the guy that ran that has stopped running live in person and now runs a game online. I don't have the time or heart for online gaming. My heart was already broken in that area.

I need more games though! *grr*

I don't think my character will come close to her 20th level in another 15 or 18 years :( We should game more often...

2nd edition AD&D. It's been about 9 years now, 8 with the same group.

That's cool. It would be interesting to all get together and game. *smiles* I used to go to gaming cons once. Maybe next year I'll make it to another.

TY for the comment about my visual image. I really am more of a jock than a geek. I swam competitively for 13 years and was an All-America in high school.

We still play D&D mostly but have also gone to do D-20 modern which is an interesting twist. Nothing like going in with a couple of semi-automatics. heheheh.
But I understand where you are coming from. D&D can get old. I have also played about all kinds classes also and I find I find the D-20 modern more interesting.

I am sorry your heart was broken online gaming but I understand your feeling about needing more games. :D

BTW as a sidebar on Heinlein , Wish and I used the water sharing ceremony from "Stranger in a Strange Land" for our wedding vows. It must have worked, we had our 27th anniversary earlier this fall. :D

I would love to do that, and if your character got knocked off, the penalty would be flogging. LOL :p

Gaming geeks, eh? *weg*

I started playing D&D in 1977 when it was a 3 book, digest sized, collection of rules and the highest level you could attain was about 12th... Then AD&D, then 2nd Ed...

Switched to Chaosium games - RuneQuest, Call of Cthulu, Stormbringer, Cthulu Now, etc.

Villians & Vigilantes, then Champions for superhero games.

Original Traveller, then SpaceQuest, then StarTrek and The Mechanoid Invasion and other SF games like Morrow Project, FTL:2448 ...

And lets not forget ShadowRun... :nana:

Been LARPing for years... Live Call of Cthulu, Allout Helter, Dark Confrontation and the like... *grins*

Don't even get me started on tactical/board game stuff like StarFleet Battles, Car Wars, BattleTech...

Okay... I'm a gaming geek, I admit it.

Lol, yes you are and the real sad part about it is I also have had or played most of those games, including the original 3 book D&D. ^5"s :nana: :p

Hmmm... well I can't say I'm a *gaming* geek, I've actually never been real big on the games, but I'm definitely a geek in that I'm into Star Trek in all its forms, Star Wars to a point, Battlestar: Galactica (new), The X-Files.

Yeah, I'm gonna shush now before I scare away all the girls. LOL.

Never ever let anyone in your group study medicine. The guys won't make it before the end of the semester. And I will live on the first day of semester break. It'll be April until we next game :(

And, guys, you're old :p I wasn't even born when you already played D&D...

Lexa Doig (Andromeda, SG-1) and Katie Sackhoff (BSG) have agreed to be there. By the time the con rolls around there will be a boatload of hotties and other cool guests! *weg*

My pleasure on the compliment, it's well deserved. Being a swimmer explains a lot. :D

I've gone for that type of body before but anyway, what I was talking about was the refinement your overall appearance has. In my book that's even better!

I actually have some people that want me to play online but like I said my cherry and my heart was broken on that already. It was an addiction that I believed helped my writing for a while but I don't have the heart for more pain from people that try to deconstruct the site/game nor the time for another addiction right now. It's wonderful that others see value in the way I play and want me though. I'm happy to leave it at that for now. In the future if I feel I have more time then maybe I will do that.

Right now I'm trying to puzzle out how to find the time and creativity to finish a book, any book and work on getting it published. That would take me in a couple of directions I want to go. It may never happen. It's a fine balance of finding the lack of stress plus creativity while keeping all the other "balls" of life UP in the air. LMAO.

I enjoyed meeting Wish! That's pretty damned cool that you used that ceremony! 27 years is quite a wonderful milestone too! Is she a gamer also?

Me too. I started out in 77 also with those tiny little books which I borrowed from some dude at the first game I went too. It was love at first sight. Love for gaming that is! *smiles*

I didn't play most of those but I am playing Morrow Project these days! I want to LARP.

When I go to gaming cons, which it's been a loooooong time since I have, it's not to see the celebs. It was usually to play in the tournaments, dress up, usually as a chick from Alienation and just hang out with folks.

I got over the celeb thing when I met Anne Rice. She LOVED my dress and stopped the whole line but it wasn't like we found a special connection or anything. We are not soul sisters. As I've met authors from library functions and dinners, I've often been impressed by how warm they are but again it all pretty much means nothing in the long run. Unless I can learn something about publishing and writing from them!

I get into a lot of sci fi shows or did. Now I'm enjoying showing my favs to the kids! Things like Alienation, Sliders, First Wave and V are on my list. My husband is way into the current Battle star. I watched most of the Star Trek series, though the last one simply made me fall asleep. I found 4400 recently and LOVED it. I am looking forward to finding and watching season three. I also found Odessy 5 recently and LOVED it. I want MORE! *pouts* I want more Dark Angel too. *sighs*

I HATE it when I don't get enough play which is just about all the time these days.

Hey!

I LOVE pinball. I wish I could find a good machine these days. The program on my computer is okay but not the same!

Now back to the gathering:

You know what is cool about munches and play parties? There is no booze and no cigarette smell I have to wash off at the end of the night. My husband always fucks me, sometimes he even scenes me afterwards!

Woo! That works!

Also I've been authorized to buy a violet wand but only if I can get it for under $100.00.

If I can work out the logistics, I'll be there. However, keep in mind that my oldest will be graduating from college at the end of the spring semester, and that means I'll be going there the first week of May... Financially I might be hard pressed to make two trips so close together. *sighs* But family comes first here!

Of course family always comes first! Still, it would be wonderful to see you there. I hope it works out!

Chances are good this will be my one BDSM con.
