acupuncture needles.
Cupping is also a medical process they use.

Ah, never done either. I'd be up for trying acupuncture sometime though.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cupping_therapy

Both acupuncture and cupping are good holistic medicine that help with pain management and mobility. Massage therapy ties in well with the two if you can manage it.

Awesome Good Morning everyone!!!:rose: :rose: :rose:

I'll have the PT Take a picture of the cupping so you can see Tiamo.
I look like crap this morning but feel so much better!!
It looks like I got into a huge fight with an octopus with huge hickies on my shoulder and arm. BUT between the needles and the cupping the area that is usually knotted bicep muscle just feels like an old bruise.

I also stopped taking a sugar med the PCP wanted to me try. I have weird reactions to some meds but this was messing with me causing such a lack of energy it wasn't funny... like take a nap NOW. The back up pharm lady at CVS had me trying it different ways to make it fit but after a month it's still been bad. So I finally called the PCP to scrap it & lets start over... which will kill off my Friday lunch time.

It's great to see a new face here. Welcome Lonelygrl.

Awesome to see Ashes from back home. Is it cold up there yet???

I had the same problem Your Blueness. My Crackberry snapped a pin while I had a plane of vets up in DC. I had about 10 hours to see if it could be fixed or get a new phone then learn the new phone. Nothing could be transferred with the broken pin. which was a total bitch...... BUT I'm covered now...I use an app called My Phone Explorer to back up to my laptop. It's free. I have an Android but I don't have it connected to the cloud or a google account. All those retail techs said I had to do it the way they were taught... google account needed & back up to the cloud. Since I have access to paranoid government techs I turned to them. It's much easier for me to transfer and back up with this app. PLUS I could use my laptop to type in the contacts info on my laptop & transfer it to the new phone. I ended up having to get a battery charger to keep the crackberry alive but it was MUCH easier typing in the info by laptop & keyboard.

BUT with the new smarter then me phone I don't have any excuses for not being able to work on the fly more then I did with the Crackberry. But that's ok since I can also read on it with my Kindle app and no one can see what I am reading. BONUS!!!! :D

So great to hear your shoulder is better today dear lady!! I remember during the Olympics seeing all the USA swimmers with the cupping bruises on their body and everyone wondering what the heck attacked Michael Phelps ... :)

Good Morning Spacelings :)

It's a beautiful cool fall morning here in California, so I am working with the patio wide open and a living room full of sunlight. This is why we pay that premium to live here in Paradise. I'm about ready to slide into a three day weekend so whatever comes down today is going to roll off my back.

Hi Lonelygrl - welcome to the Spacebar. You can't go wrong with Azul - he is a good egg.

On the technology question - yes, technology is developing rapidly (Moore's Law) and will continue to transform our world in ways hard to imagine.

Soul - I kind of agree with you and kind of don't. I think technology has the potential to make us soft, but doesn't necessarily do so. Over-indulging in anything sedentary is generally not good for us (too much TV, too much gaming, etc.), but it can be balanced. One of my friends is a physical trainer, one of the most fit people I know, and he is a fanatic gamer.

I also carry a sat phone when hiking (anything outside of the city where cell phone is dependable). I've been carrying in for about six or seven years now (it's a work expense for travel, but still mine and not the companies). I've used it three times to get assistance for people - once in the desert east of San Diego when I came across a couple hiking and out of water. That scenario kills a couple of people a year there - the deserts a dangerous place. Once for a snow mobile accident and another time to call a tow truck for some stranded people in the empty part of Wyoming. That is the upside of technology. It gives us some truly great tools with immense potential. My smart phone is liberating - it allows me to work from anywhere, anytime. Since i work on billable hours, it accounts for 100+ billable hours a year.

I've done acupuncture for pain management and muscle relaxation and it seemed to work fine. I've seen cupping but I have never done it myself. I'm partial to the holistic approach to medicine.

Tiamo - LOL heck, you should have been there. I could have been overwhelmed!

Morning all! So fun to see this place hopping again. :)

Technology... Well, you know I love it and make the most of it, but that being said... I refuse to log on Facebook and post (I might log in just a few times a year), I refuse to use Twitter and any other social media other than Skype and Steam and lots of niche forums.

I do update my technology every two years and I know it is easy to migrate all your old programs/data to your new phone/computer, but I want out with the old, in with the new! Good riddance to all the pictures I stored on the old device, I have so many I have nightmares about lending someone my phone, lol. I uploaded the ones that matter somewhere safe.

But I embrace technology. I learn how to make things happen by teaching myself programming languages and database skills. I used to have a career in it but I've fallen behind. I database my books, I love having things organized digitally. Just last week I made a spreadsheet of my Pokemons too!

The party I'm throwing is having an activity of everyone getting online and playing a game for a bit.

Technology makes life so much more fun and a hell of a lot easier.

But I also appreciate the real world and put aside the technology (aside from a gps, fitbit and Sirius/XM) to explore and enjoy it. Or while on a hike, using Runtastic or a similar app which maps my progress on the trail.

That's the beauty of being 2 open minded adults, we can respectfully disagree and see valid points in each other's opinion. I do agree if we use technology the right way it can benefit us.

Everyone looks at technology as a great thing, it makes us weaker. We overeat, don't know how to produce our own food, don't drink water, take too many medications, destroying the trees, oceans, rivers, soil and our protecting from the sun. Look at us, we have a black out and everyone is in panic, forget that without our phones were all on panic, you have people 500lbs plus using a wheelchair getting fatter smh. Technology makes us weaker and dependant on companies who supply energy, food(which has pesticides and estrogen in them) and technology.

Well... you could shop at organic whole food stores and be careful what you consume. There are apps that remind you to drink water.

But you have a point. Having lived in the mountains above Boulder, CO, I've had a plethora of friends who pride themselves on living off the grid. They were super healthy and only used technology to ensure they don't use any energy they don't produce themselves. Or to spread the word on how to make the most of your life, health and the well-being of the earth and animals and other humans now and in the future.

And I have my younger friends (and a few older) who are constantly utilizing technology. A scary percentage of my gamer friends don't care about exercise and eating healthy or contributing to society. They just care about their technology, it's a wonder if I can get them to use a Fitbit to get out a bit more. Some of us are hopelessly addicted to Lit and don't see the actual world enough.

Not everybody though is blindly exclusively ruled by technology.

I'm just glad I'm not growing up now. I had a healthy childhood exploring forests and trails, interacting with friends and meeting boys. Well I'm not sure that latter part was so healthy, hehe. I never watched tv, I read a lot. And then I grew up at the perfect time to be able to learn technology at the time it was coming out so I could understand and even make my own programs do what I want.

But I'm perfectly happy with technology and think I have an okay balance, maybe teetering more on the tech side but it's ok.

Glad you're living healthy. I am already eating healthy and working out as an everyday part of my life. I drink lots of water, go for walks and activities. I am glad you got to experience that. We all need to be healthy, take care of the environment and learn to grow our own food. I use technology also, but I think we need to be more in tune with the earth. I don't see all technology as evil, but some comes at a great price. Thank you for sharing your experiences. It's nice to get your point of view. Very intelligent.

It's more about finding a natural balance then anything else. I've know body builders who were chronically unhealthy triathletes who got sick the first time someone sneezed around them. But the folks who stayed fit with yard work, gardening, walking and such were always healthy.

I have a professional HAZMAT background and grew up around farmers so I've seen where technology has helped solve a lot of problems. Aside from fossil fuel plants most of the environmental pollution I've seen was due to mishandling. A lot of the mishandling was people not waning the expense of safe disposal.

Amen to you Tnman - Balance is the key!!! Hope all of us Spacers can get out and enjoy outside and still have the time and energy for both online and offline fun.

Stary - So glad to hear the good news.

Tiamo - Have a blast with your party, I'm sure you'll do great!

Have a great afternoon everybody.

That is true. I knew people who used to workout heavy with the weights and very muscular, you put them to work a day in construction and they're too weak. Lifting up caste iron tubs up 6 flights of stairs a so on. Cardio and heart rate is so important

Starry - ouch! The cupping marks go look like giant hickeys from someone with a round mouth! (I immediately thought of lampreys). But, what matters with things like that is "do they work for you" - there is no one size fits all and I would certainly give it a try under the right circumstances.

The downside of technology that I routinely see is a combination of professional and personal. The "always on" work environment can come with a fairly high price until a person learns to manage it or accept that it is part of their work load. We go through entry level consultants at a fairly high rate, usually because of two things - first, they struggle with the always on nature of the role. (If your customer is losing sleep and wants to talk about something in the middle of the night you take the call.) Second, a high work travel cycle with a mix of planned and short notice trips cause problems.

On the personal side I have friends who have jeopardized both their health and their relationships due to gaming, including one who had two divorces caused by his gaming habits. In the dating phase he was attentive and spent time with them - dates, dancing, drinks, festivals, etc. But, when married he would revert to "have to make this run" gaming - which let to divorce. Now he is grumpily single and still gaming too much.

The other thing I see is people addicted to texting/social media apps to the point where they are not in the moment experiencing what they are experiencing, including some rude social behavior. You have to hit the off button every now and then and just let that electronic world go.

I'm fifty six now and was already in the working world when the computer age began. I embraced it from natural curiousity and continually keep my skills up through classes and self-study. I have seen a good percentage of my contemporaries give up on technology and turn into those stereotypical crotchety old folks missing their Windows XP and flip-phones.

To me life requires a certain flexibility and a change embracing attitude, while staying true to your core, whatever that is, and hanging onto the childlike sense of wonder.

I agree with you Paul. Let me get that out of the way before I post this.

Do we fail to see that America has an economic system that requires us to be unhealthy to thrive? The more the technological growth, the less corporations need manual labor. Pharmacy is a great example. CVS cut our total tech hours in half from the day I started to the day I finished. I remember a time when a pharmacist and a tech walked in together. Now, it's just the pharmacist. Also, the pharmacist gets ZERO breaks in Georgia and where ever else pharmacies can loophole their way through the legal system. I worked 14 hour shifts, filling 500+ scripts per day with hardly any tech help.

It broke my spirit in many more ways than one. I remember before pharmacy school, I was 170 lbs. After I graduated pharmacy school, I was 220 lbs. As a pharmacist, I had reached 260-280 and now I'm 300 lbs. Chain pharmacy is the cause, not my videogames. It drove me into the deepest depression I have ever experienced and still to this day has me scared to death of going back.

Oh and exercise?! Bahahahahahahaha!!! OMG Exercise?! You try working 14-hour shifts on your feet all day with no breaks and then exercising on your day off. You'll be lucky if you can even manage to get up, and that's IF you can fall asleep the night before. You may need a fifth of vodka to tranquilize yourself enough to pass out.

So why do we need unhealthy people? Well, the rich need to make money off of that patent on the new copycat dyslipidemia drug. Big Pharma WANTS us to be fat and depressed. Viibrid is making a killing right now, being the new drug FDA approved for Major Depression Disorder rather than just general depression.

Oh! And I swear to god, I want to punch people in the face every time I hear, "Oh you're a pharmacist? Why? You know machines are going to take your job soon, right? Yeah, I bet I'm the first person to ever bring this to your attention because I'm the only person on the planet who knows this stupid ass secret." Yes, fucker, I know.

You can sit here and say people become fat because they're lazy and all that bullshit, but I worked my ass off and gave life everything I had until CORPORATE stole my soul.

That's why I'm anti-Capatalism, anti-American, and just said "Fuck life. Death is coming soon. Can't wait."

Fuck people. There is one thing that is #1 to most Americans - Money $$$. Somebody will say, "Well you became a pharmacist to make money!" Yeah I know. I learned my lesson the hard way at the age of 24 when I was working toward the American fucking dream. I got it alright. It's a fucking nightmare.

My costume came today. Here's a sneak peek without the wig, pushup bra, and fishnet stockings and makeup/tattoos. Yeah it looks stupid without the wig, but at least it fits okay.

Sorry I gotta run already!

That's a sexy costume Tiamo I think its suits you well. :D

Starry...I've read enough about cupping to believe it does help with a lot of deep tissue stimulation and healing but it still looks like someone just got mauled by an octopus.

C_M...there's a lot to be said about the soullessness of cooperate greed and consumerism expanding with technology. But some people choose other paths and careers. One of my Uncles was a pharmacist and ended up with a lot of problems because of it. I've heard stories about pharmacists weirding out in different ways. I've dealt with the same with attorneys and clinical psychologists. Some people cope with stuff better then others technology or otherwise. Its by no means fair but is what it is.

Very lively conversations today.
Let's see:
-I did not back up my stuff before switching phones. Strike one against me.
-Technology to me is a tool just like all other tools. It can be good or evil depending on the intent. My three major tech items are ,my laptop (6 years old), my phone (1 day old) and my DS (three years old.) I am not usually into the newest and best, but I stick with what works.
-Balance is the key. You have to balance everything to be content. And it's a challenge. I feel for you Chris and the 14+hour days. That's one reason I do my best to destress whenever I can.
-Love the outfit Tiamo.
-Thank you for the complement, Paul. :D

Tonight's plans are about four hours at the pizza place during the football game. I am so looking forward to my do nothing Sunday this weekend.

Tiamo - Great costume and new AV! ! Told ya it would be awesome even without all the accoutrements! !

C_M - Not pretending to know all your history, but for me I couldn't do the Corp. IT stuff either so after 7 years, started my own consulting company where I could call my own shots. Hope you can find something that can fill all the professional and personal desires.

Hope you all have fantastic evening! !

Starry, thanks for the pic! I learned a lot in the past day about cupping.

It is my belief that people who expose themselves to bacteria and microbes often are the healthiest. Children who play in the dirt, people that garden, and people with pets tend to get sick less. I am fascinated with all things bacteria/virus/parasites, but maybe I shouldn't talk about that little hobby.

I need a bar to hang out in. This one looks good!
Welcome ERM!

You are amazing. And the bottom line is you look so out-of-this-world fabulous.

Thanks for the costume compliments all. It's not going to be a Lit-Sexy costume with boobs, ass and cleavage, but a fun, colorful one.

Thank you for the welcome Tiamo and your costume looks great. I'd love to see more.

I need to back up my phone before doing a reset. This is suppose to fix my awful battery life. I hope I get it right and don't lose it all.

Thank you ERM! I ordered another, higher quality costume from a better place. The jacket and shirt are separate. When I get that version, I'll post real pics.

Good evening spacers. Hi ERM welcome. Tiamo cute costume.

Technology and I have not gotten along this week. 2 laptop hang ups. (Both in the shop) So had to get another because most all my daytime job is on the computer.

Otherwise good week.
