Spenser's Irish Pub

Ahhh thanks

Yes the power is back on finally after 4 days.
And shadow I would love to have someone come and snuggle with me... (however I think your guy would be a bit pissed off if you were to be that someone!)
I am sorry you are going under the knife but I do hope that you will be up and around before too long and that you will have a very successful surgery. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

To the rest of the board... hope all is going well with you all.
Supposed to dry out for the next 2 days but then nothing but rain and storms all next week... YUCK!
We don't need any more rain here... turning into a mud slide as it is.

But thanks for all the good thoughts coming my way....

Glad to hear you got power back on. It's no fun being in the dark (especially by yourself  ) You're right about my guy he would probably be pissed off if Iwere the one to snuggle with you. He'd whine also. Oh well I guess in spirit I can be there for you although it's not as good as a warm body

I recall when Hurricane Iniki tracked through in '92, we were in the dark for quite a spell and had rolling black outs; as a result of that there were a whole slew of babies born 9 months later, hehehe. ;) And to top it off new relationships began as a result of people being stuck together for awhile since the roads were impassable.

We've got rain then sunshine then rain - the weather is so screwy (the National Weather Service would shake their heads and scold me if they heard me say that since I used to help with a volunteer program called Skywarn which trained people who wanted to learn about our weather and what they should call in reports by phone or ham radio - that's another story). Anyway I can sympathize with you dealing with rain and storms and things turning into a mud slide. Just be sure to drive and walk safely and be careful where you step. :cattail:

Well got to get his lunch ready for work so it's time for me to say hasta la vista. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. I'm glad I came across this thread. It's such a nice, comfortable place to come to and I must say you make everyone feel warm and welcome. :) You're in my thoughts and prayers also.

Aloha from rainy with sunshine Hawaii

:nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: (my version of doing the hula, lol)

I'll be lurking in the shadows later

Greetings Spenser...I hope your life has settled down some...it seems we never catch each other online anymore but I do want to let you know I keep you in my thoughts and prayers always....  :rose:

Good morning to Spenser and the rest of the gang here. Hope you had a good weekend and that the week is good for you. Cya later

Hi Shadow and thanks for the warm wishes and thoughts. When I was in radio in the Tornado Alley areas we had Skywatchers which were men and women who drove around during bad weather and let the NWS people know when they saw funnel or tornados. Very exciting work.

Things are all dried out here and getting better. A break from the rain for the next few days then they come back again. Oh well.

Good morning to all the people here in the Pub and hope you all had a great weekend.

Hi Spenser. I am sure that you will get caught up soon. And then you can come online and visit. Have a good day!

There comes a time

when you have to deal with life and you have to focus on the things that matter.
As many of you know, I have had many things happen to me over the past few months. More things are facing me and I have to focus on what is the most important.
That means giving up some things so that I can do what is priority.
My time on line and on Lit is going to have to be cut back greatly. I knew this a few weeks ago when I said it was time to close the doors on this thread but you all were so sweet to me and said keep it open. And I wanted to but as you can see since that time very few things have been posted as I just have not had the time.
I am at what they call my mid life time. Things in my life are changing big time. My 30 yrs in radio are coming to an end and I am faced with having to start a new career or do something else in my life and to be honest, I have no idea what to do.
I was a high school drop out and used to sing in clubs and was dared to do radio when I was 17. Radio has been my life, but radio has changed so much and is no longer the place I grew to love. And at my age of 49, there are not that many stations that want someone my age. Radio (thanks to Clinton and the FCC) has been taken over by huge groups like Clear Channel and have made a lot of very talented and radio smart people without a job.
When you buy out 7 stations and only keep staff from 2 of those stations, there are 5 groups of employees that no longer have a job. And when radio uses satillite programming for their on the air jocks or puts all of it on the computer and where you had an job of 4 hours on the air and 4 hours doing production or remotes, now you just voice track your part and you can do that all in one hour, your full time job has now been reduced to 8 hours a week. And small owners of a station, like I was, can not compete against guys like Clear Channel who force little guys like me out of business. No matter how good of a job you do, people will shop at Wal-Mart before they go to the local guy, and that is why there are so many mom and pop businesses shutting down.
So here I am, almost 50 and the all of what I have done in my life is now over and I am facing a new chapter and I have not even the slightest idea of what I am going to do.
In trying to get other jobs that I know I can do like PR for a company, or computer tech... I can not get those jobs either because they want someone with degrees, and I have no degrees but 30 plus years in radio doing everything from DJing to managment, to programming... I have built 4 rardio stations from the ground up, but I can not get a job because I have no degrees and because of my age.
So, I am going to have to spend some time in looking at what my options are and where I want to go with my life. And it is with that I must say, goodbye to you all. I am sure from time to time, I will be back, but not on a daily basis and not enough to keep this thread going.
If you all want to keep in touch, you can email me if you want. If you will PM me I will send you my email address.
Thank you all for being so sweet and thank you for your friendship and love.
I wish you all the best in all that you do, and you all will be in my prayers. One thing I am learning to do is to let go, and let God take me to the next place in my life. I am sad to say, I have not done that enough, but I am tried of doing this on my own, and I am ready to let God do what He wants for me.
Thank you all again for your friendships and may God bless you all greatly.
All my love

My heart goes out to you :( knowing how the times you are going through (I've gone through something similar a few years back). I wish you the best in your endeavors and hope you will find a job soon...there is something out there for you despite the typical company/corporate attitude  of needing "a degree or two" in order to find a job in your field of expertise. Is there a local county/state government agency that posts jobs that you could look into? That's how I found mine after searching for awhile (like you I too don't have a college degree).

I do not like to say goodbye because to me it sounds too permanent :( therefore I say "until later". Remember you have friends who stand beside you on your new journey in life. :)

I'm sure the others will try their best to keep this thread going and will await your gracing us with your appearance when you are able to. :)

Take care and you will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Never say goodbye to those who mean so much to you.

I understand sweetie! There are so many of us, some with degrees and some of like you and me who do not, that are losing jobs and having hard time finding jobs even though we have done great work for the companies that we work for. I still have a job, but like yours, mine is changing too! They are creating more and more machines to be operated by quite a few less ppl. I wish you the very best in what life has to offer you. I am kind of like you in that I hate my job, and being that I was hurt on the job and cannot do some of the jobs that are available I do not know what is going to happen. So I am looking into grants, financial aid,etc.. to learn a new profession. ((((((((((((((Spenser))))))))))) I am sure that you will find something and hopefully it will be something that you love and can contribute to our society in a positive way!

 :rose:

((((((((((Spenser)))))))))))))) have a great weekend. Take care sweetie! Hope all is going well for you!

What I did was click on the button and then went up to the edit button on my browser clicked on copy and then pasted it to a miscrosoft word doc and then copied it in my sig line. Good luck, at least you found out what your sign was. I thought mine was pretty good a Taurus is actually a Taurus!

bumping the hula and saying Aloha to everyone today.

Let's keep this thread going and keep Spencer smiling. :)

Ahhhhh

You girls are so sweet. Thanks for keeping the thread going.
Life is ok. It has been raining almost everday for about 4 days and we are now under a flood watch. If this keeps up and we have most strong storms, we could see more downed trees as the ground is so soft. Their root system will not be able to handle the strong winds ( one city near me reported 70 mph) and when that happens trees will come down and I could lose power again. :( That will not be fun.
Other then that nothing much new is going on. Just trying to get work and keep my head above the waters.

Toni, you sweet thing, thank you so much for keeping the place open and for being the kind and sweet dear that you are.

Dream thank you for your sweet and kind words. I am doing the best I can with what I got.

Shadow, I hope you are feeling better and all is going well for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Well I need to make a phone call, so I am going to run... you all have a good one and thanks so much for all the sweet and caring thoughts. You all are dear to my heart.

And you are Dear to Us as well Spenser ....

be careful of da Storms hun .....hope ya have a basement??

Shadow ..Hope ya feel better sweety

Toni (( Huggs)) have a great day:heart: :rose:
