Star City- The Heroes of Tomorrow OOC

Oh, I'm sure you haven't.

It's perfectly normal to go a few days between posts.

I have to admit I'm interested in Constantines response to a 7ft tall robotic bug-like suit of armor beating itself up and talking to itself. Will it make him less afraid, or MORE?

Xenotech isn't John-Boy's strong suit. (Haha, "strong suit," pun.)

But he usually has enough tricks up his capacious sleeves to cope on unfamiliar territory.

Sorry guys. Due to ..well due to what the Rest of Literotica is and my stupidity in not leaving it alone long ago, I wont be able to continue in this thread or any others. I'm done and I've got to go. Hope all of you have a great time and I really enjoyed playing with you. Please remember me well. See you down the road.

I could be wrong in my assumption about what this is about, but I suspect it has to do with the significant other APPROVAl-NOT of this website.

That's my great-est of fears, personally, when writing here. And working with other writers. I lost someone -- because of a 'significant other', and that person's approval rating of this site, NOT okay -- that I grew close with last year.....to...something like this. And everyone comes here, for something else. An outlet of some sort.

It's tough. For co-writers. For GM's. For any and everyone. And most especially for those that are 'attached' with people in real life. I personally couldn't see myself without this creative, artistic outlet in my life. But yeah. If and I'm *interpreting* that even remotely accurately.........suck-a-tash! (the only positive that I could garner besides the writing experience is at least *he* was able to give actual word of his departure and not just......"drop off the face of the earth"...)

Not to belittle the more important topic here by switching gears for a moment(if I may)....but how IS that Constantine show? Haven't seen it yet. Can't get Keanu out of my head. I'm not caught up on the thread, but I'm taking it the character has appeared in the roleplay?? :)

I've already said my piece to Nevyn via PM. I respect his decision and wish him the best.

Yeah, Constantine has made several appearances in the story thus far-- and it is the Matt Ryan version of John, which is much much closer to the version that appears in the "Hellblazer" comics than the Keanu movie-- though Keanu did an appreciable job. Lunar has integrated "Constantine" into this thread's backstory, just as he's done so (brilliantly) with all the current (and near-future) live-action DC TV shows, regardless of network.

If this series is a thing that intrigues you-- and it should! --I encourage you to start watching it immediately, whether on Hulu or NBC.com or on the TV channel itself, as it is an amazing show but on the verge of cancellation.

Sadeness.

Was actually looking forward to have Beetle and Venom have a go at each other. Had a few ideas for that little spat.

But anyroad Nevyn, if you still get this, take care and I wish you many good journeys.

At least I still have Chass and her variety of superheroes to entertain me. Also I read up about Constantine. Wow. Great character. Makes we want to pull on a trenchcoat, doff adamantium claws and go lose my life in pursuit of meaning...

OK that sounded wrong. Perhaps it is.

-shrugs-

I'll die anyway, why not go out in style?

I am truly sorry to see Nevyn leave us. I was really interested to see where he was going to take Jaime. But I understand that real life takes precedence. Nevyn, if you see this, thank you for the brief time we wrote together. I really enjoyed your ideas and your plans.

I have to head out to work but will be posting some more stuff tonight I hope.

This week's episode of "The Flash" made LDoK!verse "Original Recipe" Rose a mite twitchy.

Also, I never get tired of Dominic Purcell's voice.

As much as I adore Nevyn's work and wanted to stick to his vision, there's no way I'm using Comic Sans.

Ever.

Thank you Chas for taking up the mantle of The Blue Beetle for me. Not only is it not a version there of which I am really familiar with, what preferring Ted, but honestly, I am out of legible colors of text as it is. Stupid not enough good colors that fit the characters personality or otherwise have a connection.

Anyway. Yeah. Tired. Worked really late and had this in my brain begging to get out for a few days. Work again in like 4 hours. Hrhg. Off to sleep. I hope.

Honestly I am hugely impressed with the array of heroes we have conjured.

Normies/"Low" Powered: Arrow, Guardian, Artemis, Batman/Nightwing/Robin(somewhere out there), John Constantine, Rose(Sometimes)

Superpowered: Flash, Impulse, Zatanna, John Constantine(when he really tries), Venom, Rose(Mostly), Static(Assuming Wombat is still with us), Atom(For the most part)

Omnipowered: Jaime, J'onn, Others yet to appear.

While there are some characters that are capable of truly ridiculous feats, they are also constrained with the morality of those actions. One thing that I always like to point out when talking about power levels of supers is that it isn't the raw power that always matters. Batman once out did Darkseid. Squirrel Girl has kicked the ass of a lot of VERY scary villians.

It is about the heart, the inner drive and the story. Not the muscles and the god-like flexing there of.

Also, sorry I have been away for a few days. Holidays in Retail. But things are getting back to normal. Should be more present. Also, if there is anything anyone wants to do storywise, ideas that they want to pitch, I am always willing to hear thoughts, suggestions, etc. I want everyone to get the most they can out of the experience.
I'm glad my initial instincts were right about you, Mister "Lunaramblings"! I couldn't agree more with this statement of yours from a bit ago. The whole 'power' thing always put me off for characters like Hulk or Superman -- characters that seemingly *APPEARED* invincible. With their unbelievable feats of strength. If it weren't for the heart and morality of Clark/Kal'El, I really...the character for me personally.....would mean so much...less. And at times, I struggle with him doing just that. That's why I was also drawn to someone like Peter Parker, because of that....oh-so-relatable *HEART*....that he wears on his sleeve. He's so much more interesting, to me. Than someone that can "defeat everyone" no matter what.

Bart has power, but clearly he doesn't know what the hell he has. He doesn't have any kind of awareness....of...almost....*ANYTHING*. And it will be my absolute privilege to 'illustrate' that -- or at least attempt to -- each time I write. Be true to my character.

I live for the interactions though. So in a group roleplay....heh. Hopefully people aren't "shy".....because no one is 'safe' from *ME*! So to speak. ;)

And you both -- "Lunaramblings" and Miss "ChasNicollette" -- I do like how you identify your different characters with color coded dialogue(in fact I *THINK* I've noticed your....whole "pack" of people do it? Miss "TearsoftheWorld" included, etc). Something I personally probably will not do. But I respect that form, like I said I like it...and I appreciate it all the same! (must be tricky to keep track of which color applies to which hero/heroine though, right? haha) :)

And why am I not surprised that Miss "ChasNicollete" is taking up the mantle for yet *ANOTHER* character? Hahaha. All Star. That's pretty cool.

On a side note, I hope the original Martian Manhunter returns to play when things get less busy as well!

(love the t-shirt by the way. love the *ahem* Conner one more....but I'm a fan-boy, what can I say? hehe)

Oh and....anyone....have any ideas for a possible banner, that 'we' might be able to use. For this roleplay? A group photo perhaps? A landscape/cityscape for Star(ling) City? An *ARROW-head* even?

I'm big on tagging my roleplays in my signature, and with 'each' having a banner of some kind. No pressure. Just thought I'd mention it. I know you've been busy "Lunaramblings"....hehe :)

First thought:

She's completely adorable and she's worked with The Flash before, awesome synergy!

Second thought:

Shit, I'm gonna hafta watch "Glee" now, aren't I?

Hang in there, sweets.

I'm sorry for your struggles. Fiscal year'll be over soon, maybe then they'll let you take a breather.

I'm happy to be of help. Anything I can do to ease your roll on this end, you let me know.

DON'T DO IT!

Actually, Glee's first season or two had its moments. Mostly I got tired of it.

I like that there's a couple of "Heroes" actresses in it, but the characters almost entirely infuriate me.

I have a mild crush on Dianna Agron, but that's mostly due to the aforediscussed "I Am Number Four" rather than Quinn Fabray.

Jane Lynch is my mortal enemy.

"Kal-El" is hyphenated. :: winks :: Respect the hyphen.

Have I mentioned yet that out of all the superheroes I love, Spider-Man is my actual favorite? Because of that heart you mentioned.

And I look forward to seeing Bart's enterprises under impulse power!

Actually, I think I picked up the color-coding habit from Tears herself, when I joined a "Last Daughter of Krypton" thread or two. It breaks up the flow of text a little, helps distinguish one character from another when reading, and if you can establish a symbolic color for your characters, expresses subtext rather like a cinematic motif. Rose's color is a skyish sort of blue because of her recurring optimism-- and thus the people in her family around her are other shades of blue because of their link to her. (Jaime Reyes has suddenly switched to Royal Blue rather than straight Blue because Rose's mother Ceri is already Blue.)

Artemis is dark green because she's a protegee of Green Arrow with a dark past.

Felicity is red because that's the color-code I used for Chloe Sullivan in LDoK, another ridiculously pretty hacker with sassy wit and dyed-blonde hair.

If you're struggling to keep up color-coding, Lunar, can I suggest simply italicizing the dialogue for villain characters that you may not be using more than once? I did that for Sidearm and Razer.

As for Blue Beetle, I'm only writing him long enough to give him a proper phase-out, and to give Venom that Whiskey Tango Foxtrot moment of clapping eyes on Beetle and vice versa. I live to serve story progression, though I regret that I have thus far been unable to recapture the darker vibe that Nevyn gave Jaime-- I'm more familiar with him as younger and brighter.

After that, I may bring in Vixen, in advent of her introduction to the canon "Flarrowverse" later this year in an animated series.

And, yes, I really do hope AmenRa can rejoin us as J'onn. He's one of my favorites.
