Star City- The Heroes of Tomorrow OOC

Yep.

Definitely loving this Jaime Reyes.

Though I do hope we can do something to try and help him get his old joie de vivre back, it's interesting to see him all grown up, surviving this long with The Scarab in his head.

Scarab? You mean that the Blue Beetle isn't this guy?

...

What's your perfect Sunday?

On the look for this character sheet thing for Blue Beetle I actually came across this question. I know that my answer is not in the vein of the reason that this question was asked, but here goes:

Waking up at 09h00
Drinking coffee at 09h30
Taking a shower at 10h00
Sitting down in front of my PC at 10h30
Narrating to my PC as it writes the stories I'm too lazy to type at 10h31
Making lunch at 12h30
Eating at 14h00
Narrating more at 14h50
Have a beer at 17h00
Visit a friend at 17h30
Sleep at 19h00

OR

Just spending whole day on the internet downloading pics of busty warriors, busty girls in bikinis and downloading e-books for the rest of the week... :D

I have to say I love what everybody is doing. It's really wonderful to see and take part in such a story with such talented writers. I'm doing my best to keep it simple and just tell a very human story about Jaime's journey.

Couldn't agree with you more!

That's the balance, isn't it? That delicate tightrope. We have this cosmic playground, but it's up to us to keep the people mucking about in it rooted in believeability. Quite a challenge, and one I've often enjoyed.

Hahaha! Maybe I should've gone with the Tick instead. I could've played stupid and heroic and given everyone a laugh, instead of playing dark and tragic and making everyone cry.

No man, you're doing a great job. It takes a lot to get me more depressed than I am normally so you're not even scratching the surface. Keep up the good work man, I like reading about the Beetle dude (PS can I take the Wiki page as the same thing for your guy? Or at least direct me to your character sheet thingy, I feel like an idiot round about now)

Check out Page 7 it should explain everything. The links in that post of mine will help also.

Man after reading that Venom seems far inferior to everybody on the team :O

How so?

Venom is bad-ass!

I mean, Beetle is capable of power with "theological implications," but only when he's adapting to fighting enemies like The Spectre.

But we got all levels, here. Artemis is street-level, about on the level of your Tim Drake but below Arrow and Batman.

J'onny and Jaime and Supergirl are at the top of the spectrum, impossibly powerful.

Rose varies from street-level to mid-level most of the time; she has one Hero that can hit the high notes but there's only a one in ten chance (if that) that she'll ever get Roentgen-Ray Rose.

But Venom is a solid mid-level combatant, capable of surviving against high-level guys and mopping floors with functionally infinite street-level goons. You have Spider-Man's powers and then some, that's not nothin'.

Honestly I am hugely impressed with the array of heroes we have conjured.

Normies/"Low" Powered: Arrow, Guardian, Artemis, Batman/Nightwing/Robin(somewhere out there), John Constantine, Rose(Sometimes)

Superpowered: Flash, Impulse, Zatanna, John Constantine(when he really tries), Venom, Rose(Mostly), Static(Assuming Wombat is still with us), Atom(For the most part)

Omnipowered: Jaime, J'onn, Others yet to appear.

While there are some characters that are capable of truly ridiculous feats, they are also constrained with the morality of those actions. One thing that I always like to point out when talking about power levels of supers is that it isn't the raw power that always matters. Batman once out did Darkseid. Squirrel Girl has kicked the ass of a lot of VERY scary villians.

It is about the heart, the inner drive and the story. Not the muscles and the god-like flexing there of.

Also, sorry I have been away for a few days. Holidays in Retail. But things are getting back to normal. Should be more present. Also, if there is anything anyone wants to do storywise, ideas that they want to pitch, I am always willing to hear thoughts, suggestions, etc. I want everyone to get the most they can out of the experience.

Yes. Also, you have to understand that right now, Jaime isn't at his best, nor does he have access to all the powers he could have. He and the Scarab are having an 'argument' about some things. In fact the powers Jaime has got right now mean Venom is about his level. Ohhh...and the Scarab might even KNOW the symbiot.

Hmn. It makes sense, they both come from outer space.

Just occured to me, if Venom doesn't tick of god-like heroes, he can actually get it on with a few of them. Just correct me if I'm wrong, didn't Grundy once battle with Supes? I can swear I've read that somewhere. I also had a comic where he pursued Dagger, nobody could stop him. Not Spidey, not Black Cat, not Cloak, not even Kingpin...oh wait... That wasn't Grundy...that was some other animated corpse cyborg thingy.

Think the only way I know Grundy is from the animated series of Justice League, where Green Arrow only joined because Black Canary has them friggen fabulous long, sexy legs.

...which cybernetic corpse was that, a Deathlok?

In the comics, Grundy is an improperly resurrected plant elemental, basically powered by The Green corrupted by (I think) The Grey, which is why he's such a problem for Alan Scott, his Ring no likey the plant-matter. His power level and personality tend to change each time he is destroyed-- he self-resurrects after a period of time, not unlike Swamp Thing-- and thus he has varied from Bane-level dull bruiser to borderline Savage Hulk to heroic strongman to cold and calculating mastermind.

What transpired to make Mirakuru!Grundy more like his comics counterpart over the last ten years has not yet been fully fleshed out, at least from what I can tell.

In any case, the version we just fought was apparently channeling The Savage Hulk, at least in terms of persona-- though Lunar's prose implied that next time he might be different.

The fact that Venom got all up in Solly's grill and did not get rent limb from arachnid limb is points in his frelling favor, DK, and no bones about it.

Yeah I think its that Deathlok dude...

God I should stop typing when I'm intoxicated. I even did an IC post!

Well to be honest, I just realized that if Beetle knows Venom itself, Beetle would be ancient, if Beetle knows about symbiotes, that is a different story. Also, since Venom would most likely kill sombody down the line, I can expect somebody to have a severe talking to with the two of them. John would not feel much remorse, Venom will be ashamed for the loss of control...but not much. That is why the chewing out would be so nice to add.

OK imma shut up now.

Sounds like something Ollie might be down with doing, ripping someone a new one for killing on the job.

And of course this would give Artemis an existential crisis because she was raised to kill and the moment she slips up she's on double-secret probation for the rest of her godforsaken days.

It's not the Beetle...the Beetle is the man and the scarab combined, to make a power suit of kick-ass. The Scarab, Khaji Da, is ancient. The Reach are ancient, they may have been around long enough to have programmed the Scarab to see Venom as an enemy on sight. Much like Constantine and his magic...

Uh...just a warning, that I'm gonna get reeaaal weird with it.

0.o Scarab is a beetle not true?

:D

Kidding just kidding!

You do know a face to face confrontation might jar a few more memories of the suit loose and that could make him become more powerful...that is kinda the idea I got/had. That Venom is only like a mere shadow of himself, that there's more untapped power that he doesn't know of due to the experiments done on him.

Or not, ever seen a confused symbiote? I can utterly do that :D

We'll PM about it when I am more awake. But I was thinking about something along the lines of the two sort of instinctively recognize each other and respond against the wishes of their hosts.

Like two cats meeting each other for the first time, they will hiss, raise their hackles and growl threateningly... doesn't mean they will attack... but... they just... might...
