Star City- The Heroes of Tomorrow OOC

Hey guys. I had a...conflict with another user (well them and their friends) In another thread. My Girl knows I post here and has never had a problem with it, as I don't really have any interactions for her to worry about. I just had a misunderstanding and a lot of stupid drama, which led to me getting some PMs and I just needed to run away.

But I really really really really want to write with you guys. This is one of the most awesome things that I've ever taken part in as a writer and I don't want to give it up.

My worry is that some of the jerks who I had a problem with will follow me here and disrupt things. I do not want that to happen. I'm unsure what the right thing is here.

So I will leave it up to the group. You guys decide. If my personal conflicts with Lit are too much, then I will bow out and go away. But if you can accept me, I'd be grateful to keep going with you.

Sup bud. Can't you just ignore said individuals and move on? Maybe without the 'attention', they will also move on their 'merry' way as well. Then...*everyone* wins?

Conflict is no bueno in my opinion but maybe that's me, not knowing the situation.

I'm sure everyone wants you to stay. At least that's MY vote! (and I'm glad it wasn't the dreaded significant other deal!) :)

Nevyn, I would honestly love to keep you around if at all possible.

What sort of problems are these guys causing you? Could we report them to mods?

Nevyn_Black. I mean this whope heartedly, you are not only welcome to stay, but you damn sure better. Jerkwads and jackasses are an unfortunate side effect of the human condition. But giving up on something that brings joy to you not to mention to others, over these types is just wrong. I accept you as you are. We all bring baggage. If they become an issue then we will follow proper channels to alleviate the issue. Nevyn, one thing I have truly come to believe is that you can never let people take away your happiness. They will try, but that is when you lwan on your frienda, trudge on and do whatever it takes to surpass these types. They are never worth sacrificing somethibg you care for for those that do not care for you.

Like a great man once said: "Frag them." Oh wait that was the wrong guy.

He said: "I may not agree with what you say, but I will die for your right to say it."

Practically the fact that some people are giving you grief means that you did something right bud. If they do follow you here and try to disrupt our, YES yes I know its Luna's story, but we are writing it as well so it has become our story now. IF they follow you here and try to disrupt the story, proper actions will be taken.

If you didn't shag the president(or whatever leading figure in your country)'s daughter's sister's brother's uncle's underage wife, then I will gladly have your back (not that I say the leading figure's daughter's sister's brother's uncle has an underage wife)

If the significant other is fine with you bashing up a few bad guys then bugger the rest, her opinion is the only one that should matter (and of course our's)

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you -- the Heroes of Tomorrow...*today*!

*points!*

Need more be said Mister "Nevyn_Black"? :)

(seriously though, that's awesome unity/family-like-effort/'message' even. Think the bad guys stand a chance against THAT? Hah! Think again.)

;)

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

Actually it was a lady who said this. Evelyn Beatrice Hall wrote this in her biography on Voltaire to describe his point of view, though it's often misattributed to the man himself.

Don't make it any less valid, though.

So say we all.

Volwho??

Gotta excuse me, I'm an ingrate when it comes to history. Unless it's WW II :D

*wipes tear* Thanks guys. I am humbled beyond words. And Chas can play anyone. Everyone in fact. One woman show in her future.

*bows, fist to chest in Roman fashion*

Thank you, Dark One.

I endeavor only to do my best.

Feel free to ignore my one post as Beetle and rewrite it with your characterization intact, I can always delete my post for continuity if need be.

I don't know a lot of history, but I absorb random factoids like a sponge, and I like to research for time travel stories and flashbacks to immortal pasts and that sort of thing.

Don't worry, that's a very common misattributing.

I thought it was perfect, it stays. And if you ever want to use the character for a scene, just let me know.

Thank you, that's an honor!

(Gosh, all this power is gonna go to my head.)

But honestly, I'd much rather have the back-and-forth. I am well-practiced in talking to myself, but I enjoy this medium because of the opportunity to play off of each other.

We all have wonderful voices, it's the harmony of them that's the magic.

Writing wise, I'll see if I can get something out during the middle-ish of this forthcoming week. Ideally, one post every other week from me would be FANTASTIC....but we'll see! It's certainly motivation, and also means I have to be writing in my own roleplay during the other weeks...

Doesn't hurt to dream. Have a good weekend everyone! :)

Have a good weekend, too, Lachy.

Good to have you with us, in whatever quantity.

This article and video just make me wonder how bad-ass Ollie, Roy, Artemis, Hawkeye, and Legolas would be if they weren't holding back.

After all, Inigo Montoya fought left-handed.

(Though I am annoyed no mention is made of Katniss Everdeen or Susan Pevensie.)

I've seen that before. He is pretty cool and it's really impressive that he has been able to learn all of this on his own through study. But that guy narrating sounds ridiculous...like the dude that narrates your homemade LARP movie.

Maybe the "Honest Trailers" guy was busy that day.

*laughs* Well it's still cool. And I am not surprised really, that the old time archers did it way differently than FakeWood would have us believe.

Everything you see in movies is fake. From gunfights (which take place usually something like 10 yards apart in RL) to martial arts fights. In real life, all the flashy shit is useless. You try an aerial kick at me and I will punch you in the crotch.

Take as a prime example, hollywood depictions of sword fights between Samurai. In real life those duels lasted for 2-3 moves. The initial rush when each opponent strikes and parries, the second strike as each spins, and MAYBE the third blow that kills one or both. Why? Because samurai were trained to strike KILLING BLOWS not wounding blows. Real fighting is dirty, bloody and fucking brutal. It's not about who is the best trained, or the most physically fit, or even the most experienced. Real combat is about who has the greatest will to live.

If you can take more punishment and pain than the other guy and keep on fighting, you win. I don't care if you're fighting a U.S. Navy Seal. It's all about the ability to take punishment and keep dishing it out.

I try to keep things as realistic as I can, but I also enjoy playing with the tropes of the fictional worlds that we're in. For instance, even though I may have Artemis start holding arrows with her drawing hand when she's seriously under fire, she'll keep using a back quiver because that's what Ollie keeps using on the show.

I believe, however, that there's a spring-loaded rack mechanism in Ollie's quiver in the comics so the arrows don't jostle around or fall out when he's running about and that sort of thing, and it makes sense to me that Ollie would have a similar methodology in the show's 'verse.

That's what Artemis was talking about when she was telling The Atom about having her arrows' positions memorized-- because the rack holds the arrows in place in the quiver until the instant she draws each one, she knows exactly where the arrows are in her quiver and which trick arrow she's reaching for. Given the above-Olympic athletic feats of many of the heroes in this world, with training she could still keep up a blinding rate of fire even with having to draw those arrows from behind her.

It doesn't solve all the problems that this great Dane has presented, but it does okay enough for me.

That's what I love about being a writer. I like to take impossible things like magic and explain in some fashion that makes sense, how it happened. To me, that is more entertaining than just saying that Ninja's can do anything.
