Star City- The Heroes of Tomorrow OOC

Or let me ask you this...
did you read any DC titles before 52 and then after 52?
Are you OK with the changes?
If so, why? And, if so, why are you not OK with changes when they make movies?

Many of the changes I was upset with were deletions of characters whose stories I desired to continue. Wally West, for instance, and Cassandra Cain.

The overall storytelling direction of DC's corporate editorial was that people couldn't be happy together. And while there will always be an element of tragedy in heroes' lives, there must also be triumphs-- and some of those triumphs will include happy marriages, because this is a thing that happens to people and that merits stories told about it. This resulted in the murder of Buddy Baker's son and the crumbling of his family, a King and Queen of Atlantis that oddly cohabitate together without being wed, and editorial refusal to allow Batwoman to marry Maggie Sawyer.

I approve of the concept of The Multiverse. But in my experience and humble opinion, the overall quality of the stories in the New 52, of the characterizations and the writing, that's suffered most of all. If Scott Lobdell is one of your tentpole scribes, and other writers are ditching your label like the plague, you're in trouble.

Like I said with the movies, I'll stick with the stories if they're good. DC stopped being good.

Maybe "Convergence" will change this. I hope it does.

But thats sort of my point. Comics change their continuity all the time. DC tends to do it suddenly and dramatically, but Marvel, especially with their sliding timeframe, also does it. If you are OK with continuity and character changes in the 'source material' (and I use that term loosely), then you can't complain simply because there are continuity changes when brought to the screen or TV. You can say that "Hey, I like the character this way rather than that" but getting upset simply because there are changes is, y'know, fairly inconsistent with being a comic book lover.

And no, Convergence won't change anything. It is filler at best. DC's editorial staff is, obviously, made up of marketers who have never read a comic or talked to someone who reads comics. Therefor, they continue to play to their 'base', and wonder why they don't get new readers.

Have I mentioned I love Jonathan Hickman?

I don't complain when there are changes between universes except where they reduce diversity in the cast.

I complain if the stories aren't as good.

Post-New 52, my opinion is the stories aren't as good, and I chalk that up more than a little to the corporate direction and interference.

It's like a sexy version of The Blinovitch Limitation Effect.

...and I am...

...definitely feeling my limitations.

Also updated Profile to include a face to the man in the suit.
