Star Trek: The New Adventures

For my own sanity.. is it possible for people to put in like a header or something? Just a line that says...

M'Chel Raica S'Tarr - Marine MSgt - Holodeck

ie..

Name - Rank - location.

it would help me soooo much in unbderstanding what's happening where.

I shall try to remember this in future.

(Did you need me to go back and edit this information into previous posts? 'Cause I can do that, too, if you like.)

well, she priobably "felt" that mental exercise Jace did.

throwing up a wall like trhat probably made psychic noise

Except under extreme circumstances, i.e., if there's some kind of psychic bond between subjects, or the dream-interference from "Samaritan Snare," or really intense bursts of emotion like from the super-energised space calamari from "Encounter at Farpoint," I think Betazoid empaths are limited to in-room proximity and/or line of sight. For instance, Troi (and Matt McCoy's character from "The Price" whose name I can't remember) could read emotions from people with whom they were having realtime subspace communications, like ship-to-ship chats, even though these could be many kilometres (kellicams!) away.

There are also some species with unreadable brain-structures. Four-lobed, or what-have-you, most notably The Ferengi, these are immune to telepathy or empathy as employed by Betazoids. (For future reference, The Toorandi also have this sort of brain structure.)

Thus, if she can't see you across the way, or you're not in the room with her, she's probably not aware of your feelings.

Do that again in her presence, though, I guarantee you you'll blip on her psi-dar. :: chuckles ::

It would be helpful. But only if you want too. I'm not an admin or nothin here just a writer like yourself.

As for people reading my mind.. or arather my character's mind.. hmm.. If i put it in italics.. i guess it's safe to say it's being read.. or if she jerks awake dripping it sweeat that makes her clothes cling to her curves, a scream on her lips...

Actually he was probably about 10-15' away, he did it right outside the door to the briefing room.
but it's your call.

Huh.

Sorry, I thought he was still on the turbolift doing that. :: smacks self in forehead ::

I dunno. I think she's got enough going on with Nine that she'd have missed it anyway.

:: winces :: Sorry, sweets. Next time?

O.O

Not only is that a fantastic mental image, but I think it qualifies as "really intense bursts of emotion." She'd probably get that from a few decks away.

not every time you cast the line do you get a bite

that should be in the Mr. miagi handbook or sumthin.

no worries hon, you were having a very intense moment with a part Borg crewmember

requires concentration

Dammit.

See again, attempts to ward off omniscience.

I hope I called how everyones toons were acting right.

Still crawling into this guys head. Starting to get comfy in here, but he isn't Wraith.

Relax Chas. We have lots of time to have some character interaction.

Bat'letha vs. Uchigatana

Could be interesting!

Though she'd probably use a yan rather than a bat'leth in that sort of fight.

Or she might dual-wield a pair of mek'leth...

Yays!!!

*posts Bio*

Name: Lavinda Ecklas
Age: Unknown (looks Earth age 25)
Race: Blydian
Eyes: Coral sea green
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 120 lbs
Hair: Shoulder length wavy black, usually tied in severe topknot.
Ships Status: Ships Counselor
Rank: Lieutenant
Abilities: Can read aura's, or thoughts. Can interact in a psychic level with any sentient being. Can also use these powers to control minds - either directly or through suggestion. Can also morph into a creature unique to her world. A black panther like creature with six legs and a ridge of razor shaped bones that protrude from its spine (however this can only be activated with a Fresh Blood Feeding)

Lavinda also had a limited ability for telekinesis and has a natural speed and strength ten times beyond the ability of any human.

She has the ability to 'suck out' or inject any emotion she wants from or to the mind she is connected with.

Unfortunately, Lavinda can only gain nourishment from drinking blood. She can eat other foods, but it often tastes like fire in her mouth and gives little to no nourishement. Since joining the Federation she can 'eat' a synethised set of nutrients her body needs to survive usually in liquid form, however she is never fully satisfied and her abilities are often limited.

Racial History: Blydian's are a relatively new race to come to the Federation. They were discovered in the Gamma Quadrant. They had attained space travel one hundred of their years before. In that time, their system was soon plunged into an interplanetary war. Colonists battled with Origins (those that lived on Blydia) for control of the system.

In this time another species came into the fray, taking advantage of the Blydian's bloodthirsty nature and chaotic civil war. The Garosians, reptilian creatures, all but wiped out the Blydian culture - and soon gained rule of the System and enslaved all Blydians, using them mostly for bloodsports.

A Resistance formed and a few were charged with trying to find a species further afield that could help them. They found the Federation and were granted Asylum. Unfortunately, before the Federation could intervene, the Blydians were wiped out, their planets having been mined of its resources and its people annihilated. There were no further signs of the Garosians or their bloody occupation.

History: One of the radicals that joined the Rebellion on Blydia, Lavinda's hope for finding a friendly species in the wide universe had faltered before they had come upon The Enterprise. Their captain took them in, but it was with its Ship's Science Officer, the Vulcan Spock, that Lavinda made any connection with. Her history, and her apparently abhorrent needs for nourishment, were often hard for others to understand. But Spock gave her hope when he helped to broker an alliance of sorts with her comrades, understanding that her species was unique in the universe and needed to be preserved. Soon after, all traces of her species, save for the small crew she had flown with, had been annihilated.

Lavinda and her comrades had no option but the carry on and try to keep alive any part of their culture that they could.

Applying for a position in StarFleet (Spock being her inspiration) she worked hard for years to get where she was now. Finally, having finished her internment, she posted for a position on the Enterprise. Though the ship now had a new captain, it was really the Ship itself that Lavinda had made a connection with, and she felt that serving on her would be an added honor in her life.

However, she was requested to join the crew of the Arizona. Her unique skills to read people and situations were needed, but for what mission exactly she did not know.

No Problems

Dan, I hope I haven't offended you with what Kahlest's said to Nine. I'm just trying to have her react like a realistic superior officer.

I intend no detriment to you or your writing, because really, that's quite splendid. :)

Don't worry about it. She's reacting like a superior officer, he's reacting like someone who's still trying to figure out who (and what) he really is.

I love the way it went!

(And I love your writing Chas, top notch!)

Everyone has come up with some good rhetoric regarding the mission. Thanks for being attentive, your character's input makes it feel like we're all sitting around the table on a starship, talking about what we're about to do.

After Chas's character and WolfSister's character has their input, Harper will issue orders and confirm some ideas and we'll get under way.

Thanks again, everyone, for joining up in this thread. It's off to a great start, and only going to get better and more fun!

It's promising to be great! And a lot faster than some other threads I've been part of in the past. Fantastic!

Thank you very much, Dan. :: grins :: Coming from you, that means a lot.

And how bad-ass is Wolfsister's girl, huh? Geeze.

It's gonna be good to have her along, I can tell already.

Particularly considering our adversary. (I'm already wondering what Kahlest's cat's going to think of the gorgeous eerie panther-form. And Kahlest's own reaction to that form's spinal ridges...)

This thread is a serious wanI'.

I should be able to get a post in sooner or later. Shouldn't be long!

It's CHas!!!!!! *gives her a big hug*

There's something on the wing......

Of course, in all seriousness...there is a problem in the cockpit.

The cockpit? What is it?

It's where the pilots sit and fly the plane. But that's not important right now.
