Star Trek TNG: The Magic of Our Past

Col. Dufray

Dufray slowly piloted the shuttle into DS11's bay. after steping off i made my way to it's comanding officer office. He presses the chime outside the door and walks in.

Behind the desk is a lovely woman in her later 20's early 30's. looking over PADDS and other things. she looked up as Dufray walked in.

Woman: May I help you?

Dufray: Yes, I'm looking for Captian Jessica Walters

Walters: You found her, now you are?

Dufray: Col Dufray. I'm here waiting for the Enterprise to arrive?

Walters: It's due here within the next 2 days, your early Col.

Dufray: Being late or on-time got me nowhere Captian. do i have a place to stay or do i sleep on you parmade?

Walters: Deck 7, room 666, sir.

Dufray: Great, thank you Capt.

*Dufray walks out and heads to his room to wait for the enterprise*

Ransitar

Ransitar stormed past the entrance guards and stopped at the edge of the great steps leading to the courtyard. He took a deep breath and turned to the right towards a gilded door. That damnedable Sorkorin, he thought as he walked. He had first known him as a student at the University when Ransitar had been pursuing his own continuing research. The young fool had always nosed in whenever Ransitar tried to discuss Luxitor's Theorem with Sarina, or Planar Travel or some other subject she had seemed interested in. She had always been patient when they talked (as not many were), and her clear perception seemed to put all of Ransitar's problems into focus. One of the few times they had managed to be alone he had actually made her laugh, which surprised even him. But that weasel would always show up, trying to alienate her from him. She had known Sorkorin since childhood, and he made no secret to Ransitar of their "relationship" or whatever it really was. He had never been crass enough to say it, but his innuendos had left no doubt in Ransitar's mind that they had once been lovers.

The city transport guard snapped to attention as Ransitar fumed past into the small chamber. He walked up to the spidery silver framework that held the shimmering jewel and placed his palm on its cool surface. "Siren's Tower," he muttered. The jewel pulsed once and the walls melted away, then another pulse and he was in a slightly different room. He stepped out the door and looked up at the tower's carved bulk soaring overhead. No contact with any except the appointed, eh? He nodded grimly. That he could do. With pleasure.

William Riker

Getting up from the table, I head to my room to freshen up and rest before my shift came up. I debate on keeping my face smooth for Deanna, or growing my beard back. "Let it grow, she can shave it if she wants you baby smooth." a voice in my head says.

"Yes, I like the beard." I say in agreeance with the voice.

"It has been awhile since I have seen Deanna except for on shift in a long time, maybe I can find her later." I mumble aloud as I lay down with a book to read.

Chakotay

After Mr.Paris left the captain asked me to sit and talk.I sat down. "Well I think first we need to show that we are also going by the list to save power. We most have roomates. I left it up to you who you want to room with. I am gonna room with Tuvok.Plus As you have saided often we most lead by example.Second we need to have a party. We need to get all the crew togther and do somthing togthere. This good on two points. One we rasie the crews moral. Plus while we are doing it we can shut off power to almost every deck till it is over.I have talked with Neelix. He has a plan to make somtihng specail that want take much resources. Because he grows everything he needs for it. I also think the Docotor should be there. I know this is using energy. But every one is scared everything we do is to prevent a powers out. We keep say what is gonna happen. By having the Docotor there we show. That we know we will get there safe. Also that we get what we need and go one. We most not show panic or fear. Espacilly you. The crew looks at you for there strenght and so do I. I know you know this but I am gonna say. I you are the person that keeps this ship togthere and as long as they see no fear from you. Then they won't be as scared. For when people lose hope then we are as good as dead.I don't know if you noticed.I roomed Paris with B'Elanna.I will take personal responsibility for any that goes wrong with that. But If it works.I think we should let them remain If they wish. But that is just my thoughts. What are your thoughts on this."

Deanna

I leaned back in the chair and closed my eyes. After several hours of studying files, my head felt like it was going to burst. I needed a break. Rising from my chair, I exited my room and headed towards the nearest holodeck. Upon arriving, I gave it the program to run and then entered it.

I was greeted with a forest clearing that had a running waterfall, flowers and the soothing sounds of forest animals. The minute the door closed, I felt myself relaxing. Going over to a formation of rocks that looked almost like a chair, I sat down and prepared to enjoy the sweet sounds around me.

Janeway

I nodded. "All very good suggestions. I am a little weary of having a party but I can see how it would raise moral. Make sure that the rationing is not compromised, however, and I will approve it. As for a roommate for myself, it does not matter. Just make sure it is female, I do not want rumors to spread around the ship about the captain. That would undermine my standing in the crew more than just a litle. As for everything else, I leave it up to you. Just make sure Paris and B'Ellana are not disturbed. If they want to come to the party, fine. But dont insist as I want the Delta Flyer in perfect condition by the time we reach the planet."

Looking at Chakotay, I added,"Yes, I know their relationship but I also know they work well together and if anyone can get it done its those two." Smiling, I leaned back in my chair and ran a hand through my hair. "Is there anything else we need to discuss, Commander?"

Chakotay

"When was the lat time you have sleep. Knowing you I am guess it has been days.I also know that even if I ask you are not gonna go to bed. But I am gonna ask anyway you need to rested up."

Janeway

I let a small laugh escape. "You know me too well, Chakotay. I have been snatching sleep here and there but I am just to worried with getting this crew safely to the planet that I find myself sitting up at night calculating everything that could go wrong and how to get around it."

I felt myself yawning at the thought of how much sleep I had missed and looked over at him. "But you cant tell me that you arent in the same boat. You are just as concerned with the crew's safety as I am."

Chakotay

"As for the part Neelix promises me we can do it and not make that much damage in the supplies.I will make one a deal. You go and rest for the next few hours. That means sleep. No planning and no worrying. While you are asleep I will do that for both of us. Then when you wake up I will go to sleep. Then you can do the worrying. If neithere of us are one hurdred percent then the crew moral my drop."

Janeway

I looked at Chakotay and was about to argue but his words hit home. He was right, though I hated to admit it. Soon the crew would need me in top condition and I couldnt let them down.

Standing, I stretched and nodded. "Deal,"I said as I headed to the exit. "I'll set a wake up call for four hours from now. Take care of the crew and dont work them to death," I joked as I headed toward the turbo lift and then my room.

Tuvok

I walk in as Paris and B'Elanna where leave."Excuse me Mr.Paris. I need you to report to sick bay. While we are trying to save on power. We have asked the docotr to stay off line.So unless there is an emergeny. He is not to be activated.Untill we arrive at the planet. I want to you to work in sick bay start now. These order are from the Commander Chakotay. He has also asked me to teel you not to bothere the captain. She is sleeping and needs her rest. So untill further notice everything goes to him. Is that understood Mr. Paris. This also applies to you B'Elanna."

B'Elanna

"Comander, I undersand everything but one thing. why Tom? He has no experience with medical technology and is the worst person on the ship to deal with that."

"Sorry Tom" quickly glancing at him." Wouldn't Harry or yourself be a more logical choice than Tom or I."

I was just tired of all the interuptions today. first the Warp core, than interuptions. It took everything not to let the Klingon side of me break out. I just tried to play on the vulcan nature. Logic.

" Tom shall we finish up here and then go 'talk' till our mission starts. we are almost finished here. I'll just upgrage the integety of the engeneering system and reroute a little more power to the flyer.

Tapping my com badge " Commander Chakotay. Tom and I are almost finished with the flyer, we need to reroute a little more power to it or we will never make it to the surface. Oh, and one other thing while it is on my mind. It is not the wisest choice to put Tom in Sick Bay. There was that one time when he did almost kill Neelix"

Tom Paris

"Ooo, this might get interesting." I think as I listen and watch B'Elanna confront Tuvok. Then the Commanders words sink in, "You will be on your best behavior, or you will be off of the mission."

"B'Elanna, go easy on him he is only the messenger." I say to her.

"Why can't we have one night alone?" I ask myself as Tuvok starts to reply.

Janeway

I know I promised Chakotay that I would go straight to my quarters but I also knew I would get no rest until I made sure that things were going well with plans for the away party.

Heading towards where the Delta Flyer was kept, I overheard what was going on. Before Tuvok could comment, I stepped in. I could tell B'Ellana's patience was wearing thin and I was not going to escalate things.

Clearing my throat to get the attention of the trio, I said,"B'Ellana, I dont think arguing with orders is a good example from my chief engineer." Turning to Tuvok, I added,"However, I do want these two to concentrate on the away mission. That is the most important thing right now as we do not have seriously injured at present. Tell Harry that he is to be oncall for the sick bay and that he has permission to turn on the doctor if somthing arises that he cannot handle. And then start making a checklist for these two on things neccessary for the away mission. You can deliver it to them after they have rested."

Turning to B'Ellana and Tom, I said,"You two finish up in here and then get some rest. I know it will be tempting to do otherwise but I need the Voyager's engine's in top shape as well as the Delta Flyer."

With a nod to the three, I headed out of the shuttle bay and down to my room.

B'Elanna

"Sorry Captian, it's just been a rough day. We will finish up here and then I'm going to take a rest, maybe even go eat if I feel the need."

I walked back to the Delta Flyer to go and work on the power reconfiguration with Tom.

What a relief to have a little peace and quite for the moment.

"After this, lets go back to our room anf relax till we have to leave."

Tom Paris

Making the last adjustment, I replace the cover.

"Let's go, the Flyer has never been in better shape. We definatley need our quite time." I say with a wink.

Riker

Putting my book down, "Computer, what is Deanna's current location?" I ask. "Holodeck two." it replies.

Walking to the holodeck, I wait outside for Deanna to emerge.

B"Elanna

Tom lead me out of the shuttle bay and back to our room. I loved it when he put on the gentleman act and lead me on his arm. He could be so sweet sometimes.

Once there I reached my arms around his neck.

"It's been awhile since we've been alone, miss me?"

Deanna

Sighing and knowing that I had to leave this small slice of paradise sometime to go back to my studies, I stood and said into the air around me,"Computer, end program."

The forest, waterfall and rocks shimmered and dissappeared from around me only to leave the blank walls of the holodeck.

Heading toward the exit, I figured I would get something to eat and then go back to my quarters to begin where I had left off. I jumped as I walked out of the door and realized that Will was standing there at the door. I must have been deep in thought not to at least sense him.

"Will,"I said with a smile,"What are you doing here? Not waiting for the holodeck to become free I am sure. Is there something you needed to talk to me about?"

Tom Paris

"More than you can know." I reply looking deep into her eyes. "It has been to long since it has been just the two of us." I say with a smile.

Placing a hand on each side of her head, I lean in and kiss her.

Will Riker

"I was thinking of how long it has been since we have had time to talk, just been wondering how you have been." I smile while talking.

"Hey are you hungry?" I ask as I start towards the dining area.

Deanna

I laughed and nodded, yes. "You seemed to have read my mind,"I said with a sideways glance as we walked,"That was where I was headed next. I have been studying the files on the crew of the Tesla and I seemed to have forgotten to get dinner."

A silence fell between us and it wasnt exactly an uneasy one and yet I felt as if I needed to say something. "You are right, it has been a long time since we have simply talked. Our positions keep us very busy. So let me turn the question back to you. How have you been?"

I stopped and turned to face him. "And before you say anything, I am not asking that as the Ship's Councelor...I am asking that as a friend and someone who is truly concerned about you. You have been working long hours with little relaxation. Its almost as if you are trying not to have too much time alone. Talk to me, Will."

Will Riker

"Well as a friend to a friend, the reason I have been so busy is so that I won't think of my current condition. Deanna, I am so lonely, at times I think of leaving Starfleet but then a situation like this develops and I realize that this job is more important than my happiness."
I ramble on to her.

I hardly ever let my guard down like that, but Deanna has always brought out the truth I never feel the need to beat around the bush with her.

Deanna

I looked up into his face and nodded. I knew the feeling well and, without any empathic probing, I knew he was telling the truth.

I lifted a hand to brush lightly along the sleeve of his tunic, a small gesture but one of comfort and friendship. "You know, I dont really feel like dealing with a crowded dining room right now, how about we go to my quarters for a more private dinner and conversation?"
