Story incorrectly rejected due to AI

Did the original drafts of the work, rejected by Lit as AI, ever return a guess of AI from a detector the author or you used? Like most, I haven't access to the rejected works. I'm not sure whether the problem is, a) that Lit's detector is eccentric or, b) that the flagged AI has been removed by human intervention/rewriting but Lit still rejects it.
I ran the author's second version of the story through the AI detector before I made changes; both resulted in non-AI results. Though, to be fair, I used the free version that limited the selections to 300 words at a time. I used several passages from the nearly 5,000-word story. Same results - it appears human.

Sipping a cup of coffee, perusing the forum, killing the day as usual watching the sun getting ready for bed. The clouds are few; a light breeze has the tree limbs waving slightly, kind of like the English Queen's royal wave - cute with minimum effort. The squirrels came for their ear of corn - my backyard neighbor provides that. I'm entertained as I watch two squirrels sitting on each side of the 4x4 post – like dining at a fine restaurant - well as best a squirrel can dine I suppose sitting upon the cross boards enjoying 'corn on the cobb.'

It's about time to get some outdoor air. Heading for the mailbox with my walking stick. Wish me luck. Hope I get back in before the sun goes to bed! :coffee:😄

Hi, everybody! It's me! I'm the author whose story got rejected three times on the grounds that it was AI generated. I'm done trying to convince the powers that be that I write all my stories myself. And I am not changing my writing style to appease whatever system they are using to screen submissions for AI. @dmallord is a wonderful person for reaching out and trying to help me. I love these forums, so I'm going to hang out and support you guys in your creative efforts, but I'm done writing erotica for now. The rejections hurt too much. I'll enjoy my stories in my head.

There are other free story sites. Storiesonline.net for instance. And your stories get posted in as little as an hour to as much as 12 hours.

Oh, the brutal irony: The fierce warrior against the machines is accused of exploiting them, while those who actually use them ceremoniously pass through the main gate... Knowing the person in charge, she probably simply doesn't like you, which is a good sign; it means you're human. Only the truly Loathsome Creatures who infest this place get along with her.
Ah, tis perhaps Gertrude's voice I hear....

Why you being so mean?

Why you being so mean?
One word: internet.
On a more serious note, I do agree that we shouldn't attack each other. We might not agree, but that's no reason to mock the other or ridicule them. I don't care which side someone is on, if they are a victim of a flawed system, they are a victim and it will not make me feel any better, that they do not see things my way.

If she tells, everyone will adjust their text accordingly, marking the inception of a dystopia where machines taming humans instead of the other way around. No one should alter a single syllable due to an algorithm.
This, a million times this.

Two stories sent back (won't bother resubmitting the first one for the third time), another heading for its second rejection. Two more written but not submitted. No reply to a conversation, not even a forum post or announcement to tell us they're doing something about it.

Blessed be the detector that sends us away from Lit.

I don't disagree. The outputs generated by LLMs are trained on a large number of samples of human writing written to the style guide provided by the trainers and written by humans for the purpose of training outputs, so it would be very surprising if detectors couldn't distinguish reliably between AI writing and all humans writing. What's weird is that Lit's detectors are so different to a whole range of other detectors.

Is there a thread or somewhere I can go to to ask for help regarding my work being rejected due to AI? My story has just been rejected a second time, and I would like to have someone help me figure out why it might be getting rejected as AI. I know we can't really tell the real reason or criteria, but i dunno maybe a second set of eyes could help me identify something im missing?

Have you tested your text in several of the common detectors? If so, what do they say - % flagged and at what probability etc?

Okay I tried on some websites:
https://www.zerogpt. site/ - 88.87% human
https://contentdetector.ai/ - Likely Human (38% likelihood of AI)
https://undetectable.ai/ - Green response which according to the criteria = 100% human

I've never written stories before and only decided to start writing now because I wanted to share my erotic fantasies/thoughts. I don't know if my bad writing style is triggering AI ugh.

edit: checked out your profile and noticed we are from the same place! very cool. Didn't think i'd run into someone from the same country haha. Could I possibly start a conversation with you? The option does not seem available

Writingwhatilike just made a post saying he was going to retire due to this. Unbelievable! He is one of my favorite writers and I will never forgive Literotica if he does...

You can ask in the Editor's Forum for editing assistance. There is also this list of 'active' Volunteer Editors: https://www.literotica.com/editors/ (Note that the list is sorted by profile page updates)

I hear your voice pointing out the difficulties of editing as being challenging. Yet, Lit has a sign-up of volunteers to do just that, and those who volunteer offer services for no charge.
What I meant was that there are regular posts where people complain that they can't find an editor. So it's all very well for Lit to say "ask for a volunteer editor", but if there aren't enough to go round, you're stuck. And given the work involved, it seems a bit unfair to demand that more people do it, or those that are already doing it do more.
Am I also hearing your voice hinting that you might share some of those 'easy tricks that anyone can learn and make their text flow more naturally' - less like AI? Perhaps you might create a 'How to NOT Write Like an AI' submission for Lit? It would serve as a good deed and not be directly serving as an editor but a 'teacher' proffering help via another story under your belt.
I'll do another "what I wrote and why" post shortly focusing on some particular writing and style tips. Whether they'll help with sounding less like AI or not I don't know, but hopefully they'll be of some use.

My observation is the Volunteer Editors are attuned to helping with writing issues, e.g. grammar, syntax, second language user English, and a rare effort regarding plot or character development. Nothing on the volunteer section remotely says 'I can improve your human appearance in your writings - make you less AI-bot-like.'

I did see one volunteer editor mention AI. I am going to give them a PM and ask for editing assistance. The series I'm working on is the first time I've ever written a story aside from anything required in my school days (and I was a business major so not much literary stuff). I'm thinking maybe my terrible writing might be triggering AI detection lol. Worth a shot since I'm on the second rejection anyway

I agree, and when I was a VE, I limited my offering to line/copy editing/proofreading. I wasn't qualified to do structural editing, and it's something that most don't advertise for.

I think it's a mistake that Laurel recommends that an editor review the work because no one knows anything about how stories are getting kicked back for AI. Fixing basic grammar may help, but that's good for anyone.

Thanks!

I recommend contacting kenjisato if you have no luck. He was my VE when I published here, as MrCurrie, and was fantastic. Not only for catching my many grammar errors, but also for pointing out confusing plot lines. When my stories were rejected for AI, he offered to help revise them, but I decided not to burden him with the additional workload, as he has a large list of authors he helps. Good luck!

A lot of this could be cleared up if Literotica was more transparent with what AI detector they are using. Whichever one it is, it is obviously way to sensitive. Either that or there's a very large AI usage problem on the site.
