Stupid Question about Vacation Attire

I have to disagree....48 is not too old to wear a bikini with a body like the poster has. I'm sure she works hard to keep herself in that condition and age should have nothing to do with it. I'd much rather see her than some of the flabby under 35 year olds wearing bikinis that I see quite often. I bet she is the most popular mom with her sons male friends.

Honestly, I think any woman that wants to wear a bikini should wear one and anyone that doesn't want to look can just not look or go fuck themselves. It's her body and she should be allowed to wear whatever she wants. Besides, whatever you look like, there's men and women out there that would like to see. Of course, from a personal perspective, I wish everyone would just walk around naked unless there's some reason to wear clothes. Seriously, people that think you should have the body that they want to see are probably shouldn't even be allowed to have sex because they're still too immature.

You can play this safe. Pack your bikini, another suit you're more comfortable in and a sarong or something similar to cover up with. Maybe wear what you;re already comfy in until you've got a base tan and then flaunt the bikini once you're in full-on holiday mode.

And I agree with Eilan - check it's not transparent when wet and that it stays in place when you swim.

Well, check to see it's not transparent and stays in place if you're not planning to flaunt your privates. They're good qualities if you want to "accidentally" expose yourself.

Sorry to post and run, but I had to take the oldest boy to college orientation and I just got back yesterday!

Thank you for all the positive feedback, encouragement and advice. I didn't even think about what it would look like wet, so I'll try that out today. THAT is why I knew I could count on the great Lit people to steer me right!

I do have some nice cover ups and don't intend to go anywhere but the pool to the chaise lounge in a bathing suit. I agree, if you're not on the beach, cover up. Not everyone wants to see everything. : )

I will definitely post some pics of the tan lines when I get back. Better soak up the sun before the government taxes THAT too!

I didn't know who else to ask. I wanted an honest opinion and my friends are all too nice.

Anyway, I'm going on a cruise with my husband and 3 teenaged sons. Most of the day will be spent in a bathing suit. Do you think it would be creepy for a 48 year old woman to wear a bikini? I'm trying to stick with black and subtle prints, but I did buy a pink one. I don't think I'll wear this one, but it's how I look, basically.

I'm 5'3" 110# and in reasonably good shape. I was planning to wear a modest cover up (not walk around on deck grossing people out) but I really want to max out my sun time. (Unhealthy, I know...)

Any thoughts?

I'd ask the husband and 3 teenage sons. They might find it creepy if they're not used to seeing you that uncovered. I doubt anyone else would. I'd be thinking, "Damn. I hate her and her tight bikini body." And then I'd order another cocktail.

imo - screw what everyone else thinks.
But - you really need to think about how dressing like that will affect your teen age sons.
If my mom were to dress like that, i'd probably not go anywhere near her nor claim her as my mom untill she changed into something a little more age appropriate. It annoys the hell out of me to see older woman trying to look like they're still teenagers and their actual teenagers being stuck in the crossfire.
Now - if it were a vacation with just you and the husband - i would be saying go for it.

I would at least give them the courtesy of knowing that you'll be looking like a cougar before hand, or at least ask them their opinions. They count too.

I reread my reply and i sound a little more ......bitchy than i had intended, was only meaning friendly advice but i guess my actual mood is making me look like an ass - i apologize.

you don't sound TOO bitchy. LOL Actually, you make a good point, so no harm done. It's not like I've gone from wearing a skirted one piece to a scrappy bikini, so it's ok. Sadly, that vacation is old news and a fond memory. Someone revived the thread. Still lots of great comments, though. Thanks to all. I never wore that suit, by the way. I DID wear several of my two pieces but not that one, it seemed a little too young. And...there were plenty of women who should have been covered up who weren't. Something about suntan lotion and alcohol brings out the wild in people. Thank goodness!

I work for a cruise line and can agree with you 100%. Some people either have no shame or no mirrors...LOL
