Support the AH Halloween Contestants Thread

Fredrick Carol,

A nicely done, enjoyable story. I voted and left you a PC.

C2C,

Place a link on your sig line and leave PC's at the contest stories you read and you should still have time to pick up enough votes.

Heh...well I did as advised...although my attempt at inserting a link in my sig line seems to have failed...at least it can be copied and pasted I guess. Thank you Rumple Foreskin for the good advice. I tend to not ever...uh...'push' my stories. Never saw a need until...heh...just lately.

C2C,

Here is the code I entered for my link. (I had to add a space between URL and = to keep the sucker from working) Try substituting your url and title and see if it works.

Thank You

Thanks, folks, my total of votes has now crept up to the dizzy heights of 25, and my little tale is now in the contest. Unless one of Laurel's sweeps removes any of the votes! :(

Thank you, too, to sack, Boxlicker101 and RumpleForeskin, as well as the two anonymous, for the PCs.

There's no way I'll win, but at least I'm in!

No problem, FC, it was a good read.

Two of mine, 'Absorbed' and 'Miranda the Witch' are stuck on 19 votes having had some removed. Miranda is 8 Lit pages long so it takes stamina to get to the end and vote.

Morose Monk is my other runner for last place with a rating of 3.88 and exactly 25 votes.

Anyone else short of a few votes? I have read and voted on many but I may have missed some.

Og,

By now, if it wasn't for PC's, I'd have no idea which stories I've voted for. I'll try to get by today and "exercise my franchise." Who knows, maybe I'll even vote?

FC,

I did read and voted yesterday evening, but somehow my pc never got posted. I remedied that.

Soooo...that's how it's done...thank you very much Rumple Foreskin. I think I may have learned enough from you to know how to do this in the future as well. I owe ya...big time.:)

No thanks needed, C2C. Just another fine service of:

No Hope Enterprises,

Just before I got into the threads, I looked at my Halloween entry. It is down to 77 votes now, from a high of 80, and the average has gone up to 4.65. Still an also-ran but I don't feel too negative about that. I wonder where it will end up.

Winners

Congratulations to the winners especially Dr M's moth-eaten story and Cloudy.

I hope all those who participated feel that the angst was worth it in terms of views, votes, PCs and feedback. I know I do.

I will be reposting the rules for the coveted last place together with my contenders.

Og

Last Place Contest...

Rules for Last Place contest.
****

Order for coming last:

Lowest voted rating for a genuine attempt at a story multiplied by number of votes if less than 25 divided by 25.

So - if rating is 3.00 but only 12 votes the score would be

3.00 x 12 / 25 = 1.44

If rating is 3.00 but more than 25 votes, the rating stays the same.

I suggest ignoring number of reads except as a tie breaker when least number of reads would *win*.
****

My contenders:

Absorbed: Rating 4.30; Votes 23; Views 3465. 4.30 x 23/25 = 3.96

Miranda the Witch: Rating 4.68; Votes 19; Views 1331. 4.68 x 19/25 = 3.56

Morose Monk: Rating 3.88; Votes 25; Views 3904. No divisor because 25 votes = 3.88

Sister Nun: Rating 4.36; Votes 116; Views 44586. No divisor = 4.36

Women in White: Rating 4.39; Votes 28; Views 6218. No divisor + 4.39.

So, even though Miranda the Witch has my only H it is my lowest scoring story for the last place contest at 3.56.

Anyone beat that?

Og

Whoop!!!

Congrats to the winners.

I am so glad with this outcome.
Very happy to see true stories got on top after all.

:D

Adding my congrats to the winners--excellent stories all, as were the others I read (and if I didn't have this dadblanged flu bug, I'd have read more of em). And thanks again, you authors, for inspiring me (with your writing) to participate. You're a talented--and very nice--group of Litsters.

So -- how did the "also rans" fare? We've seen Og's results. Anyone else care to post final views/votes/score ?

Congratulations to Doc Mabeuse and Cloudy. It's nice to see actual good writers winning here.

9,993 :) was the number of views for my only entry. The last time I checked, which was about two minutes ago, "Melanie and Me in the Haunted House" stood at 4.65 with 77 votes. Perhaps I should have included more sex action.:)

I just checked the top-rated horror stories, and I see that, as it stands right now, even though I won second place, my story is tied with Angeline and beaten by Cloudy and two of The Mutt's stories.

How does this happen? Does this reflect votes that have come in since the contest closed?

In any case, it shows you what a close and fickle thing winning a contest is.

I actually thought for a while I might have a chance of a place :(

Final scores:
Be gentle with her: 4.81 from 136 votes, 21612 views, 17 PCs
I knew there was a reason: 4.75 from 115 votes, 8578 views, 5 PCs (not bad considering it isn't even shown in the list of contestants!)

Alex

Edited to add PCs

Pretty much middle of the road efforts, neither overwhelmingly good, nor contenders for the bottom I don't think.

Grats to all who participated :)
