Support the AH Halloween Contestants Thread

Mine is doing pretty badly, a serious last place contended. High voting average, my second highest Lit, but only 16 votes. It's Erotic Horror.

I should have known, my last Lit story also EH has only 6 votes but a perfect score, quiet so's the trolls don't hear.

Feedback? The usual proposals from CV, very little otherwise. Apart from some useful comments from Black Tulip.

One of the reasons I didn't rush my entry, is because it's an erotic horror, and I know that category is hardly read compared to others.

If I did enter it this late, I'd put it in science fiction or something, because you get the reads and the votes in there.

I didn't write a contest entry - I really hate Halloween, many awful things have seemed to happen in my life around that date - but I read Lucifer Carroll's Death of the Party and it was really great. Gave it 5 and a PC!

I've posted a second.

Trashy group sex story written in less than 2 hours, submitted six hours ago and already posted.

It already has more votes than my erotic horror submission, though a lower average which is quite fair as it does read like it was written by someone off their head.

Maybe I should just stick to pulp fiction.

'Morose Monk' is a good contender for last place. It has 7 votes and is rated 2.27.

Now to read the others. I've been ignoring them until mine were posted. I didn't want to be depressed by the high quality of everyone else's.

It reminded me strongly of a poem I had to learn by heart once, as I was not exactly a model student.

I searched a bit and translated the poem for you. I did not make it into an English poem, merely made sure you could understand the sentiment.

I've both read and enjoyed the english version of that poem/story. It never fails to make me laugh whenever I see it.

In truth, death is always interesting in how he's presented in stories. Terry Pratchett's Death is phenomenal especially in "Reaper Man" and Neil Gaiman's friendly yet dutiful female Death in the "Sandman" series is equally poignant for completely different reasons.

And there was a great story a while ago, don't remember the title, but it was turned into a Twilight Zone episode where a travelling salesman keeps Death on a salespitch until it is too late for him to take a sick child and he is forced to take the salesman instead. Very sweet and dark tale.

Wow. My entry Bonking for Britain has had 8 votes removed and the average improved by one whole point. Presumably some multiple voted several times. Cant understand why someone bombs humour, all the PC's say they laughed their head off.

Happy Fucking Halloween is doing nice and mediocre ( 4.13 after 15 votes), which is fine since I entered just to expand my audience, but a bit surprising since last year's entry is one of my highest rated.
