Interesting. According to this the TOTAL number of immigrants living in Canada who were born in the USA as of 2021 was 256,000. https://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-recensement/2021/dp-pd/dv-vd/imm/index-en.cfm. So the net is strongly in favor of the US.


I've always thought it's very useful to look at how people "vote with their feet." It's clarifying when people make comparisons between the US and more socialistic regimes. The net migration trend almost always favors the US. It indicates that people value freedom and opportunity at least as much as, if not more than, security.

Of course, in the case of Canada it may have nothing to do with politics. Just terrible weather.
