First the people of Washington DC don't get to call their own shots. You name a city or two but lets look at states. Red states are pretty much without any variance hell holes.

A great example is they would have legalized weed years ago but cannot because they aren't actually in charge of their own soil. As we're seeing here Trump is legally within his rights to sent the National Guard. Which shows even more clearly how much he clearly approved of J6. He could have ended it any time he pleased via multiple means. He actively chose not to.
