~Texas Cantina~

I usually only play for friends, so their references would be worthless. You'll just have to give me a try out. I work for tequila - nothing else required, though tips are welcome. Try this one out....

*strums guitar*

Well, the bus is pulling out and I guess Id better go
Before I make a grave mistake and let my feelings show
And twenty miles away she waits alone for me
But when I try to picture her you're the one I see
And in another situation I could put up a fight
But you will be my downfall tonight....

Wow!

That reads well and I bet it sounds even better.

LOL @ references

I have plenty of Tequila, I'll get you a tip jar. Play when you can/want.

~smiles~

Cool - I do love my music. Maybe we can play a guess my lyrics game from time to time. From MrT to MsT - thanks for the gig. I'll be down the street in my book store if you need me....

Thanks MsTexas. It is an honor to work for such a fine lady....

Gotta finish my song and then go find some food. Tequila always makes me hungry....

***strums another chord***

So the night is coming down, drowning us in blue
And it all points towards the things we know we shouldn't do
And as I look at you and I fall under your spell
Well I know I should be thinking of her lying there herself

And when faced with temptation you know a man should stand and fight
But you will be my downfall tonight

Be my downfall be my great regret be the one girl
That I'll never forget
Be my undoing, be my slow road to ruin tonight

So the bus is pulling out and I'm grounded here with you
And I want to say the sweet things babe I've always wanted to
So tell me now the tail-lights have gone out of sight
Baby won't you be my downfall once again tonight

Have a good evening folks. Don't forget your waitresses and bartenders....

Good evening to the pretty bartender and fellow patrons. A round on me it's Friday !!!

Evening all. Thought I'd slip in for a song real quick, but I can't stay long. This one goes out to everyone who had a dream and realized that they don't always come true the way you planned.....

It was raining hard in 'Frisco,
I needed one more fare to make my night.
A lady up ahead waved to flag me down,
She got in at the light.

Oh, where you going to, my lady blue,
It's a shame you ruined your gown in the rain.
She just looked out the window, and said
"Sixteen Parkside Lane".

Something about her was familiar
I could swear I'd seen her face before,
But she said, "I'm sure you're mistaken"
And she didn't say anything more.

It took a while, but she looked in the mirror,
And she glanced at the license for my name.
A smile seemed to come to her slowly,
It was a sad smile, just the same.

And she said, "How are you Harry?"
I said, "How are you Sue?
Through the too many miles
and the too little smiles
I still remember you."

It was somewhere in a fairy tale,
I used to take her home in my car.
We learned about love in the back of the Dodge,
The lesson hadn't gone too far.

You see, she was gonna be an actress,
And I was gonna learn to fly.
She took off to find the footlights,
And I took off to find the sky.

Oh, I've got something inside me,
To drive a princess blind.
There's a wild man, wizard,
He's hiding in me, illuminating my mind.

Oh, I've got something inside me,
Not what my life's about,
Cause I've been letting my outside tide me,
Over 'till my time, runs out.

There was not much more for us to talk about,
Whatever we had once was gone.
So I turned my cab into the driveway,
Past the gate and the fine trimmed lawns.

And she said we must get together,
But I knew it'd never be arranged.
And she handed me twenty dollars,
For a two fifty fare, she said
"Harry, keep the change."

Well another man might have been angry,
And another man might have been hurt,
But another man never would have let her go...
I stashed the bill in my shirt.

And she walked away in silence,
It's strange, how you never know,
But we'd both gotten what we'd asked for,
Such a long, long time ago.

You see, she was gonna be an actress
And I was gonna learn to fly.
She took off to find the footlights,
And I took off for the sky.

And here, she's acting happy,
Inside her handsome home.
And me, I'm flying in my taxi,
Taking tips, and getting stoned,

I go flying so high, when I'm stoned.

Ahh, that one I recognize as Harry Chapin. I didn't recognize the other one. A good one.

Let's fly high !

The other one was by Del Amitri. Great band - bad promoters.... Guess I'll pour myself a tequila.....

Thanks. That's the expensive stuff.

Only the best for MsTexas' customers. How 'bout another tune?

When I was a boy,
I thought it just came to ya
But I never could tell whats mine
So it didn't matter anyway

My only pride and joy
Was this racket down here
Bangin' on an old guitar
And singin' what I had to say

I always thought our house was haunted
But nobody said boo to me
I never did get what I wanted
Now I get what I need

It's been a slow turnin'
From the inside out
A slow turnin'
But you come about

Slow learnin'
But you learn to sway
A slow turnin' baby
Not fade away

Now I'm in my car
I got the radio on
I'm yellin' at the kids in the back seat
cause they're bangin' like charlie watts

You think you've come so far
In this one horse town
Then she's laughin' that crazy laugh
cause you haven't left the parkin' lot

Time is short and here's the damn thing about it
You're gonna die, gonna die for sure
And you can learn to life with love or without it
But there ain't no cure

It's been a slow turnin'
From the inside out
A slow turnin'
But you come about

Slow learnin'
But you learn to sway
A slow turnin' baby
Not fade away, not fade away....
