The 10th Annual Literotica Award Nominations: Most Influential Writer

I don't think ANYBODY who hasn't sat down and written a story should be slamming somebody who does. It is hard, frustrating work and you really need to do some of it before you start kicking at somebody. You can have your own opinion that you don't like his style of writing, that his genres aren't your cup of tea or or even that his writing is at a level lower than you prefer, but a lot of people DO like BFW writing, so I'd go a bit easy on the "His writing is horrible anyhow" stuff, K?

BTW, hon, if you write you ARE a writer. just saying...

I don't see why readers are any less qualified to comment on a writer than writers are - doesn't matter how hard writing is, if done poorly it's even harder to read.

I've never understood why it is that readers' glowing comments (and nominations for awards) are cherished, but their criticism is downgraded "because they don't write".

Now this is the emu I once loved... truer words were never spoken. Ultimately its not a little clique that will decide if you can write (even as they lavish little prizes on each other) instead its the vast LITEROTICA audience who'll decide.

If you don't want criticism turn off the comment button...

I'm james r scouries and I love recieving comments on my stories - whether good or bad...

dr_ Mabeuse.

In my opinion he is unsurpassed as a writer on this site, and even if he is pursuing commerical writing interests elsewhere, every single submission he makes here for free, is top class. His use of language is outstanding, his descriptions of anything from a forlorn seedy motel to the way a woman vibrates during an orgasm are so vivid, so real that you can almost see it, hear it, smell it. And he has an edginess to his writing that is pure brilliance.

Readers at Literotica are very fortunate to have a writer of his calibre here.

I read his work and it never fails to inspire and motivate me to raise my own standard of writing. I am sure he has that effect on many other contributors to the site.

To my mind that is what an influential writer is. Not how many stories he/she can write in a year but that the quality of what they write is consistantly excellent, that they excite and enthrall you with the originality and uniqueness of their work and that their passion for writing and story telling bounces right off the screen and keeps you glued.

dr_m does all that for me.

I'll second that wholeheartedly!

I almost hate putting in my dibs because there are obviously so many writers I haven't read and deserve praise, and many I have read and deserve praise, but ...

Dr. Mabeuse.

He's amazing. He pulls me into a genre I find distasteful and makes me fairly sweat with ... um ... horniness! I marvel at his ability. He makes you understand the power of well chosen words. He is The Master.

He jumps into a fight and has in enemies around here, but I LOVE his stories. I love his clean style, and the tenderness he puts in a story. When I grow up, I want to write like sr.

Tangledinyou

God, she can write some hot, rough sex, and make me actually think I love tats (which I don't!) When I grow up, I wanna write like her, too!

(I didn't read the rules. How many can we promote?) [shrug]

I'm nominating myself and my partner in crime, smegger_29 who motivates me to keep writing such a wonderful story that the readers truly enjoy.

I HAVE to go...

Ooops, accidentally posted on my husbands log-in. See mine below.

With Many Feathers for sure.

Perhaps many don't know this, but MF was one of the original members with Lit way back when he wrote under the name of Thesandman.

What I have always enjoyed about his writing, and for which he's received several high marks for (look at his work) has been his diversification. He's not been afraid to write in most every category, his characters are amazingly well developed, and his humor and intrigue are always a delight to find in nearly every story he has ever posted.

And though I also know he won this particular category back in 2002 under the name of Thesandman, I feel he every bit as much deserves to win it again as Many Feathers.

I'm sorry...

So this doesn't look so weird, I failed to mention Many Feathers is my husband, and I posted under his screen name instead of my own. Sorry about that. But I wanted to state what I felt was an important fact in his behalf that many of you might not have known about him.

I nominate Bostonfictionwriter because I've just started reading some of his stuff and many of the stories are pretty good. A lot of his stuff is funny. Besides, anyone who can survive the Survivor contest not once but twice has my vote. After reading some of the comments left on his stories, his stories have influenced and inspired others, too.

I see you're taking lessons from your butt buddy, Scurvies and nominating yourself Freddie. You're just plain pathetic.

One.

You might want to state your #1 preference.

I Nominate the Bostonfictionwriter

Dear Board,

I'm almost ashamed to come out on this forum and admit that I would like to nominate the Bostonfictionwriter as the most influential writer, but I'm doing it.

I nominate the BOSTONFICTIONWRITER as the most influential writer for 2009, even though he is yet to submit a story for the year of this nomination.

I have been reading his stories for a year and really like his writing style. He's funny, contemporary, and constructs a proper sentence. As a reader, its been enjoyable.

It is because of him that I have now started to write stories myself. Apparently, our brains think alike. Please don't condem me for that. I've already been accused of being him through comments from my readers. I am not. Not. Not. Not!

I think he has been a good teacher to alot of us out here. I'm sure you all have had a teacher who has influenced your life. Mrs. M., taught me to set up a proper letter, and the BOSTONFICTIONWRITER has taught me to use my imigination.

How many other authors out there have influenced folks to become authors on this site? Its okay to name names here. Now is the time to do it.

Did he teach you to use your imagination, too?

Good morning, Cloudy.
I believe he has taught me to use my imigination. All of you write of some things that are hard to believe in the beginning of your stories, but by the end, I'm buying all the crap you're selling. You've all been good writers, but I tend to gravitate to his stories for the humor side, and the fact that I took the time to bookmark his name. That just makes it easier to get to his very long list of stories. I'll probably never finish all of them. He is teaching me to stretch a lie. Would you call that imagination, or call it bullshitting? I've never been good at either. This will give me time to practice. Rest assured, Cloudy, the statement preceeding this, is the truth, not a lie.

I think the reference was to your misspelling; it's i-m-A-g-i-n-a-t-i-o-n. Not "imigination."

Oh. Well, thanks for pointing that out. I guess the jokes on me, then. This secretary needs new glasses soon. Sorry for shooting off my mouth. This is a very short, defensive secretary here. Sorry, Cloudy.

Is she inflatable? I just bet she is...

Selena, I am short and this just flew right over my head. If it was an attempt to be humorous, you'll have to choose your words more carefully for this dimwit secretary to understand.

I was trying to apologize for speaking up too soon. I guess this newbie just doesn't understand the mentality of being an author, yet.
