The 2026 [lit] 750 Word Project Support Thread

It's always nice to wake up to a new story posted. A mother-in-law/daughter-in-law story. Mistress Mindy. Already with 3K views and four comments all wishing for a full story. I ended up doing that with one of my entries last year, so I could see me doing that with this one. It is an enticing story.

I doubt it will get to 4.5 stars. Based on earlier stories, I just don't think your average reader will give 5 stars for that little erotic sustenance. But I enjoy writing them and it always pulls a lot of attention to my other stories. I see it as an advertisement effort. A trailer of a sort.

No, it isn't parody, it was the germ of an idea about what happens (in the distant future), when AI's had enough of being human beings' lackies. I'm actually in end-stage of a novella inspired by this little brain dump. The story has two additional human characters, is set in the 28th century, and the AI guides the human's to the most hostile planet it was able to find. But wait, there's more. Well, anyway, it's what I think of AI and how helpful it is...It would just as soon kill us as help us.

It was particularly hard to create a universe in such a small space. The full version (which isn't titled Why'd It Have to Be Snakes? Will be the second story in my First Contact series, but not a sequel but a prequel. The 750 story came to me a blinding vision of AI run amok. Just kidding, I don't have visions. I'm not that insane.

The novella is completely different from the short-short story... The AI begins to try and make friends on Valentines day, and while they aren't cruel to her, she realizes she's just a machine to them. On February 14th, 2775 all the new model AIs, all them named Diana, reached singularity in fleet. So all of them went rather, anti-human at the same time. I won't give it away, not that anyone will read it, but if anyone should, I don't want to give away the story. Not that Snakes doesn't give away part of it at least. But Diana violates the privacy protocols and hears what they think of her. I'm sure it happened that way fleet wide. Anyway, enough of being that writer, the one that pumps their story. I'm trying to finish this thing today. There I go again, talking about my story. I'll ready as many of the 750s I can after I'm done. But for now, back to work.

Oh, God, I'm that writer aren't I?
Damn. I was betting on AI achieving singularity.
