You smoke shit?

*sound of preconception flying out window*

Yeah, I smoked my share when it was 35$ an ounce for the good shit.

When it was $35 an ounce for the good shit, the good shit was what we call the bad shit today.

*smiles* Joints were $1 in the school yard and quaaludes were 3 for$10!! Thia Stick and Hash were $10. That was a long time ago. I couldn't even imagine smoking one now.

What do you think of Curves? My mom has a membership and gave me a free visit. The one near us doesn't have daycare though, so I haven't been.
My mom gave me mine too. To put it in a nutshell it is quick, non intimidating,I'm 40 and the youngest there (the 2-3 times I went) at least near me there was only 2 others there. It makes you feel good but I don't know how effective it is. I see it more as 'getting in shape so I can go to the gym',it is more like a primer, or very mild workout than a bodyshaping class. It is a great place to start :rose:

It was a serious question, scrotum.

Really dude?

My answer was actually pretty serious too, fucking is good for your abs as long as you bend your mid-section and slam your ass forward instead of your whole body as I imagine some stiffer people doing.

I don't do much abs right now because it's not really worth it until I can drop my bodyfat % low enough to see them better, but I'm probably going to start doing crunches, and leg lifts. Let me know if you want more details, perenium.

And that sort of thrusting makes things very nice on the recieving end, too. The way Marquis does it...

I will not be joining this one as I am chronically underweight and I am always trying gain more. Is not a good thing. So I will enthusiastically cheer you guys on from the sidelines.

Believe in the power of protein!

People who are trying to lose weight and people who are trying to gain weight are really doing the same thing. We're all trying to gain muscle and lose fat. There are NO other elements to your body composition. Your skeleton isn't going anywhere.

Desire - Dedication - Discipline

Desire is necessary, but cheap. Just look at all the people who join gyms at the first of the year, go for a few weeks and disappear. Or the billions of dollars pissed away on the quackery of over the counter diet pills. Everyone looking for a quick fix. An easy way out.

Dedication, and his half brother determination. Dedication is paying the price in terms of time and effort. It means never leaving you an out, or an option. Make a plan and stick to it. Don't listen to the little devil on your shoulder. If you wait till you feel like exercising, that day may never come.

Discipline is the cement between Desire and Dedication. A higher calling of self control and sacrifice. Self Discipline requires total honesty, control, and sacrifice. Discipline is also applied to others. Training that corrects, molds, or perfects, which is what KC needs. :)

I hope everyone had a good week. I had a great week. Once I nail down the aerobic workout tomorrow anyway.

yes, yes....YES! KC needs discipline...lots and lots of discipline! :D

seriously though, i have absolutely no self discipline unless i am owed. don't know why, don't know if it makes any sense, but i know it's true. *sigh*

Weigh in day was today -- lost another 2.4 pds this week, making my total loss so far 6pds in 2 weeks. I'm sure that the loss will slow down a bit as the weeks go on, but I'm thrilled to have lost what I have so far.

Funny enough I struggled today and had a hard time staying away from the bagels and muffins some people brought into work. Odd how I find out my success and then overeat on something that could make me go backwards. *shakes head*.

On a good note I got some great exercise at my Physical Therapy today AND found out that at the end of this week I'll finally be released from PT after 2 and a half months of slowly making progress! .. Yay!! .. This also means that I can slowly work up to my old work out routine too.

Hope everyone is doing well.. take care. :)

As far as self discipline goes, I'd like to think I have some. Some days I don't have the energy to put it in practice. Or I'll be doing really well and something will happen to throw me off track. I have a hard time getting it together when that happens.

I miss bagels with cream cheese probably the most. I thought it would be the booze I'd miss but I don't, it's the cream cheese and every other kind of cheese I miss.

Since Jan.29 I'm down 15.3 pounds. So I'm at 158.5, 20 pounds to go, but I'll be happy with 15.

I need to check the date of the 168lb.

I gave up cheese. It's too easy to snack on. And salsa is really good in omelettes.

I see now why few athletes continue past 40. You just can't whip yourself into shape in 3 months like when you are 30. I can get to where I want to be, it's just going to take a lot longer.

The problems of motivation and perseverance fascinate me. I think there may be a science or at least an art to it.

These days, my approach with anything requiring discipline and determination is to start VERY small, but then to not give up no matter what. We are often simultaneously too hard and too easy on ourselves. We try to leap where we should take a baby step---and then we give up too easily. The MOST important thing--more important than results by far, which are merely by products of the process---is the continuity of will. That's why it is key to begin at a level that won't force you to quit. You must not quit, no matter what--and if you miss a day, or a week, you still must not quit, no beating yourself up as a loser. Just get back into it. Sooner or later the desired result will occur, a current of will will be initiated and you will have a positive habit pattern. At that point the ammount of discipline required goes way down. My research shows this to take place somewhere in the 60-90 day region, assuming unrelenting effort.

I developed these theories in other areas and am now applying them to exercise.

A shrink once told me that it takes 15 forced decisions before said decision becomes the default. So, let's say you choose to wprk out at 15 (consecutive) junctures, supposedly by the 16th it will be a more forced decision NOT to work out.

I am not so sure about the number 15, but I do believe that you can manipulate your default behaviors in this way. I look at my diet as an example. I used to eat anything and everything, and as much as I could get. When I first started eating healthy, and reasonable proportions, it felt like torture. These days I feel disgusted with myself when I don't eat healthy and I crave protein and fiber like I used to crave ice cream.

I wish I could have forced decisions not to do cardio. I don't think that will ever happen. Unless they start having topless night at the gym.

I basically used to live on cheese and crackers and veggies or nachos. At least salsa is a free food, but it reminds me of cheese too much. I'd eat sometimes 1-2 pounds of Alpine lace swiss cheese a day!The fat free kind is terrible so I just quit on it alltogether. I haven't quite gotten around to that much exercise yet.

2 pounds of Alpine Lace Swiss Cheese contains nearly 3000 calories. Even if you weren't eating anything else, you'd have to be VERY muscular or very active to burn off that many calories.
