A few times, Dad took us to the mess hall for Thanksgiving dinner. Us kids were wide-eyed with delight! Both of you qualify for military cooks! Dad was an Army cook. We would laugh at his Army cookbook such ss the number of pounds of peeled potatoes for mashed potatoes.
I hope you didn't have arguments this year, A! To me, a turkey dinner is actually one of the easiest to make. However, if Mexican is in her wheelhouse, that might be easier for her.*steps in. hugs @ImpishSeraph *
This will be the second year in a row that I will not be having a "traditional" Thanksgiving.
It seems as if my SO has decided that since it will be my three and her sister's four that we are doing Mexican this year.
In the past, she had went all out for the holiday when her parents were still around and my daughter still lived at home.
It was difficult for her because it was well beyond her skill level at times, especially since she always overdid it on food.
Last year, our holiday was late due to illnesses. So it was a smaller affair.
I am looking forward to the slimmed down menu because of the hopefully lack of arguments.
To those celebrating, I wish for the best.
To those not, I hope you have a wonderful day.
As for me, it's too early to be awake on a day off.![]()
It was just better for her this year.I hope you didn't have arguments this year, A! To me, a turkey dinner is actually one of the easiest to make. However, if Mexican is in her wheelhouse, that might be easier for her.
Whatever the menu, I hope you had lots of food, love, and leftovers!![]()
I love duck and pheasant!I have been in your shoes before. Once I helped my sister who prepared everything but the duck and pheasant which were my responsibility. I never cooked them before. But the orange marinade worked like a charm. But never again!
I'm so sorry for your loss, A! Hugs from me, too.It feels a bit bittersweet this year.
Since moving back to the PNW in 1998, I have had this day with her family and never my own.
A little over a month ago, I lost my mother. This was heavy on my mind yesterday with the work potluck.
*hugs you tighter*
I'm just glad I got a hug from you this year for it, my friend.![]()
Thank you, B2!Whether you lost a partner, friend of family member you loved dearly, holidays can trigger deep feelings and emotions. It’s ok to not be ok. And big![]()

We put up our giant 8’ Christmas star on the back of our barn, which faces the road. I addd more lights, so it looks really good.
You too BSK. As they say in these parts, "bon courage"Sorry for the absence. It’s been a hectic week. I’m also not in my best frame of mind. The holidays suck and it’s just been a tough week. I’ll check back in on Monday. Hope you all have a good weekend. Please stay safe.
I'm actually pretty careful about the words I choose. I rarely offend someone unintentionallyI am.quick with a come back...sometimes they just pop out....
Gorgeous pic, H! It looks magical!Looks like most are up and at ‘em getting the bird in gear. I slept in…too many G&T’s at the big dart throw last night but the best part about G&T’s is they don’t give a hangover….
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Probably the best shot of Neuschwanstein I’ve ever seen for MZ!
