If your provider isn't partnering with you in your care, you do need to find another. Consider seeing an ARNP. This is a Nurse Practitioner educated to at least the Master's level. Most recent ones now have a Doctorate. They are licensed to practice independently and, generally, will spend more time with you. Good luck in your search.

I got on an Isak Dinesen (Baroness Karen von Blixen) kick a couple of years ago. Had just introduced SWMBO to the movie (how has an English LIt major not seen this?!) and thought…I need to read the book! So I did a deep dive.

Not just with Out of Africa but then because I’m a geek, nabbed a biography on Denys Finch-Hatton, (the Redford character in the movie) Too Close To The Sun (Sara Wheeler), and that led me to Beryl Markham’s (she is the character in the book who was the Tomboy breaking horses…forget her name in the movie but they couldn’t use Beryl’s real name due to legal issues) book West With the Night.

All three books were great reads and paint an amazing picture of post WW1 Africa.

Well, birthday party was a success. Fresh flounder and all the fixuns…today, they’re having a Bonsai viewing of professionally done plants at our local arboretum. We had a big storm roll through last night so if it isn’t rained out, headed that way.

I LOVE that movie! I have the DVD and the soundtrack. The score is so dreamy! I've also read Dinesen's book. I haven't read the biography on Denys. I should try to find it. Now, I want to watch the movie again! 🥰

2 my 85/86 year old parents would take care of the animals up to and including getting their shots and spayed spraying the yard for fleas, buying some of their food etc...
3. Their rooms look like a bomb went off...
4. The upstairs bathroom is ruined and will require repair because they dont know how to get in the shower without praying water everywhere
5. The 10 yr old talks to my mom like an adult and is disrespectful as hell....
6. They do nothing to be helpful....nothing
7. Throws my mom's silverware away


So a couple weeks ago There was a heated conversation where she ...let's call her b... and my mom talked about it being told she needs to find a new place to live it has been 2 years and it's time to go. She threatened to not take care of my sister anymore if she couldn't live there ...and how my other sister and I dont help pat but his sisters do (we aren't welcome) and then she was like i dont see why it is such a problem just because you dont like the dog... my mom had to explain to her about 8 months ago that she isn't a dog sitter a cat sitter or kid sitter .....

Well tonight my parents were going out to dinner for father's day and b and the brat were on their phone doing laundry. They put the dog out on the chain ..with no water... when they got back from the pizza place. My nephew heard the dog making noise and asked if it was OK. Mom said yeah it makes those noises and they went intside. Apparently it wasn't.. they dog was in distress.... as they were rushing by my nephew said " I asked grandma if the dog was ok" and b called my mom a fucking bitch and rushed to the vet....

Update: the dog died

My mom did nothing wrong... has never except given an ungrateful bitch a place to live.... while my dad sits back to be Mr good guy.... I am so fucking over it

Any way you can get power of attorney and evict them? There are agencies and nonprofits that could help with adult disabled child. Regardless your parents should not have to put up with that situation. I am sorry you have to endure this situation. Vent all you want.

It may come to that.... but my parents are the ones who have to initiate. Always better if they just leave.

My sister lives with her husband not with my parents.... so that is not a worry. As far as I am concerned if pat still wants her you work for him then he can move that mess in to their house.

Pat is a good husband to my sister but he does not like me or my sister and the feeling is mutual

Exactly this. Your parents should not be burdened with this AT ALL.

That's a very tough situation with a family member needing care with elderly parents in the mix. Throw in free loading trash "helpers," it's unsustainable. Sorry you are dealing with that. I know a small bit what that's like and the stress is a killer.
