Sneaky spy bastards, them tomatoes!Technically, tomatoes are a fruit and not a vegetable, and as such, they are the only fruit I like in my salad.
Yes, Sometimes with just green olives and maybe a splash of the olive brine as the 'dressing'. That's about as naked as I let them get.Sometimes I find I just crave and need raw vegetables. Whatever everyone has their own thing, and that is mine (most of the time).
It's not like that every day... just many days.@likes2watchU that's gotta be tough with no vinegar and no dairy on salad.
Beans and corn is my solution. I do black beans corn and garbonzo and one other, usually Roman. Roman are a little larger and taste a bit like a raw peanut when you first dig them up. Red beans small or regular are my second choice. Those from cans rinsed well. Dice a red onion a red pepper and 3 or 4 jalapeno including seed and all. I make a small dose of italian dressing from scratch to keep that moist and stirred up in the fridge. I make it myself so the worst thing in it is the oil or honey I add. I serve a cup of that over iceberg lettuce at lunch. I like Ken's Country Style french on the lettuce before I put the beans. Sometimes I put left over meat on it. Ham is great. Steak and chicken work. Haven't tried tuna or Ahi yet, but very rare I have leftover fish.I know this sounds sacrilegious, but do you ever have salads without dressing?

Oooh... ex BIL? Single?Wow, that’s commitment!
My ex brother-in-law owned a bagel place, and he got up every day at 2:30 to make the bagels
I have raw veg all the time... just typically not with lettuce or other greensI know this sounds sacrilegious, but do you ever have salads without dressing?

That's what the nuts and/or cheese are forI’ve been told that the fat helps with processing of the nutrients in the greens.
Wait a minute... that must mean I'm one of those girls... you know the ones... the girls that like the "bad boys"Sneaky spy bastards, them tomatoes!
Botanically a fruit.
Culinarily a vegetable.
Two faced, good for nothing, rotten...

Always drizzle top quality olive oil over a salad.I know this sounds sacrilegious, but do you ever have salads without dressing?

Nightshade familyTomatoes are poisonous. Anyone that ate one before the year 1900 is dead. Proof positive.![]()
Glad you reached out to whomever and that it helped! Takes a village sometimes. Thanks sincerely to a couple of you Spoonies for the wondemous chats we had today. It's nice to know that there is plenty of experience out there to share, and that it is available for the asking. Gonna wrap this day in a few. It needs wrapped . . . .

Yes, plus peppers, chillis .. and even rhubarb! The acid causes extreme pain in my hands.Citrus can flare arthritis for some people, too.
Citrus is on my No Fly List for that reason
Edited: for word choice & phrasing
No! Not rhubarb, too?!?Yes, plus peppers, chillis .. and even rhubarb! The acid causes extreme pain in my hands.
Ha! I remember those days as kids, pinching fruit from nearby farms and neighbours' gardens. No! Not rhubarb, too?!?
Honestly - I haven't eaten any in over 50 years.
But - I have fond memories of going into a neighbor's garden and pulling up a stalk for a snack when I was around kindergarten age.
She didn't mind, but she did call my mom. Not to snitch so much as she was concerned the raw rhubarb might disagree with "the delicate constitution of such a little girl".
Ah, those were the days. Cast iron guts - eat anything without a care or concern.![]()
It's why newborns wear knit caps!My mom said keep your head and bootie covered and u will stay warm

I hope you're feeling better by now, DKA!Wow, slow day (or couple of days). Just can't get moving today. I'm thinking it's exposures to allergens and the kid brought a bug home. It seems we've been having similar symptoms. Yesterday was zero energy and long naps, today is about the same.
Trying to catch up a little, but most of the last few days of posts will be water under the bridge.
The curse of the competent.I am currently very interested in a workplace Strangers on a Train scenario.
You take care of my weasels; I'll take care of yours
Do they honestly think I don't have enough work of my own that I need to fix <REDACTED>'s mistakes all day, too?!?
