Up. Coffee. It's Mom's 93rd today. Not too many of the 1932 models left. There be leftovers for brekkies and then a trip outta here to go to see the B-day Gurl. Spent some Quality Time with TDK this morning.


If I ever am allowed to spend some quality time with Likes2, I intend to post something to mark the occasion like: "I'm hangin' with Likes2 and you're not. Envy me, bitches!!!"

L2 is as fine a person as you’ll ever meet! I can vouch for her!

No Pizza Slut here. Our Pizza Slut was Dominos. Ugh .

The best local ones were: Anthony’s, Buddy’s, Jets, and Cottage Inn ( my favorite). I rarely eat pizza but must have some after turkey on Thursday. Oops I forgot the Campus favorite from my hippie days, Pizza Bobs.

I have never been to a Pizza Hut till I was at Ft hood. Texas does but make good pizza!

But they did have pitchers of beer there!

But that does sound good. Pizza, a jukebox and a game of galaga under your belt!!

My first pizza was a Village Inn near our farm. Went there w my grandmother and it became a sort of going to the country tradition…then they built the Pizza Huts in town and other than a couple of mom&pop joints that’s the extent of my pizza expertise.

When I was at Ft Bliss, the local radio station picked up the Howard Stern show in the a.m. slot. He was bitching about Pizza Hut one day. Sent out for one and then trashed it for the next three hrs. I remember thinking…I kinda like PH! Can it be that bad?

Well, I’ve since had NY pizza and pizza made in no shit Italy…and OK…I grudgingly admit there might be some degrees of “better” pizza.

I adhere to to the old axiom though….Pizza, BBQ, and Sex…Even when it’s bad…it’s still pretty good!

My dad liked them. He once made Liver and Onions and had each of us kids try the liver. I did so under protest as I was mostly vegetarian at that time. It tasted like gritty liverwurst, warmed up. Nope!

Wat kinda liked liver-n-onions. After listening to you lot, you kinda ruined it for him, I suspect.

Liver&onions was Momma’s Tuesday night meal…for my whole childhood…I could only eat a few bites before the aftertaste took over. I then went into full protest mode…even when scolded about starving kids in Africa.

Wednesday night was stuffed peppers…I hate that to this day also. The weird thing? I love peppers raw or cooked with other things…Chili Rellanos? Love ‘em, Jalapeno anything? Love ‘em…green bell peppers…no…just no.

Mrs wonderer: (laughs…) um, no, cereal with some chocolate chips.

So goes our day.

Moved a bunch of logs in our yard. My frwind dumped a bunch of nice hickory and I separated out what I want to slab and what I will use for firewood and what I will use for smoking (not weed, but literally for grilling or smoking meat heh heh). Dumped a bunch of rotten wood and scrap into the woodpile.

I got the second door built and hung on the kiln. Moved a bunch of the best cherry boards inside. Getting ready to cook.

Then off to the property we manage in the next town over and raked, mulched and blew leaves.

Then home and knocked out some work for my day job that needed to be done while Mrs wonderer took a bath.

Dinner: turkey burgers with sautéed onions. Yum!

Now to figure out what to give Mrs wonderer for dessert…

@HumpDayHoratio shared a dislike of stuffed peppers. I agree - any veggies cooked down to mush? Ick! But also - it's what's put inside the peppers that I don't like either.

Gimme a raw, crunchy bell pepper of any color I like stuffed Annaheim peppers, too. Even Jalapeño poppers. I just can't tolerate spicy peppers anymore.

Lastly, was an outpouring of love for local pizza parlors.
I agree! There was a great place called Roseann's that was in The City when I grew up. We didn't go often but when we did? *Swoon!!*
It was the first place where I had square-cut pizza. SO YUM
Cracker crust, zesty sauce, fresh toppings, those little pepperoni slices that cook up like cups, and cheese.... lots and lots of cheese with great stretch!!

Years later another pizza place popped up. This one much closer to home. We loved it! Fashioned after a Medieval English tavern, it had the coolest pizza oven I've ever seen!! It could cook 30 pizzas at one time!!! Plus the kitchen was open-style so you could watch your pizzas being prepped and cooked. No one was doing that back then. It was called Barnaby's... and I only discovered tonight that it was a chain


The chain originated in Chicago and was popular in Indiana as well.
