The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Although my parents could be that way at times, the rule was you had to take one bite. If you didn’t like it, there was peanut butter and jam. It helped me to acquire a more robust appreciation of foods. At least we avoided the stubborn stand offs.
That would have been preferable to me. However, my mom felt like it undermined her authority. It was a control game for her.

Up. Coffee. It's Mom's 93rd today. Not too many of the 1932 models left. There be leftovers for brekkies and then a trip outta here to go to see the B-day Gurl. Spent some Quality Time with TDK this morning.

If I ever am allowed to spend some quality time with Likes2, I intend to post something to mark the occasion like: "I'm hangin' with Likes2 and you're not. Envy me, bitches!!!"
Happy birthday to your mom! 🫂💖💝

Haha.

It was actually never spoken of in our parts. There was one a bit away, but why would you do that when you had Nicolas pizzeria right in town?

And Scuzzeris a town over. And various other places around our county, rural as it was.

It was great living in the pizza belt.
I would rather go to an authentic family place than a chain for pizza!

Sorry, spoonies... no recap today.

Then talk shifted to foods...

I'm with @Missk_2022 and @B2fromA2looking4U in the Hold the Cilantro Club 😣 Ick!

@HumpDayHoratio shared a dislike of stuffed peppers. I agree - any veggies cooked down to mush? Ick! But also - it's what's put inside the peppers that I don't like either.

Gimme a raw, crunchy bell pepper of any color 😋 I like stuffed Annaheim peppers, too. Even Jalapeño poppers. I just can't tolerate spicy peppers anymore.

Lastly, was an outpouring of ❤️ love for local pizza parlors.
I agree! There was a great place called Roseann's that was in The City when I grew up. We didn't go often but when we did? *Swoon!!*
It was the first place where I had square-cut pizza. SO YUM 😋
Cracker crust, zesty sauce, fresh toppings, those little pepperoni slices that cook up like cups, and cheese.... lots and lots of cheese with great stretch!! 🤤

Years later another pizza place popped up. This one much closer to home. We loved it! Fashioned after a Medieval English tavern, it had the coolest pizza oven I've ever seen!! It could cook 30 pizzas at one time!!! Plus the kitchen was open-style so you could watch your pizzas being prepped and cooked. No one was doing that back then. It was called Barnaby's... and I only discovered tonight that it was a chain

The chain originated in Chicago and was popular in Indiana as well.

Finally - thank you to all the compliments 😊 I'm truly humbled and so lucky to have found this thread amongst the tapestry of options here on Lit 🤗
Thanks for the links, Likes! I bookmarked them for when the kids come.

Another day of finishing the thread! Do I get a participation trophy? 😂😂

Today was a busy day for me. I was woken up early by my boat guy who KNOWS I go to sleep late-ish. Grrrrr. Once I'm awake, that's pretty much it. I'm up.

My helper came today. I had a list for him I thought he could probably do most of unsupervised. Not so. 😤😤 I ended up helping him on EVERYTHING! Even disconnecting and coiling up the hoses. But, I did get him to accomplish most of what was on my list.

My boat guy also was here. He's not thrilled with the new boat cover I got and was grumbling and grouching about everything. I call him Oscar! 🤭🤭 He did commandeer my helper for a bit. But the boat is covered.

We only got about half the lights on outside that I wanted to do. I guess I'll be working on them this week.

My dishwasher died last week so it's replacement is coming tomorrow. Thankfully, I have a 12 - 4 window!

After everyone left, I finished working on the tree that hangs on the wall. I've had it for decades; it periodically needs a tune-up. This year was nearly a complete overhaul. But it's done and I'm thrilled!
