Technical question mister wat. I have 23 windows in my house.
Anderson Narroline 200 Series. I'm replacing all twenty three twenty two of them are double hung. One is a casement window. Anderson has a conversion kit for 400 series tilt and wash dual pane windows and full screens. I'm going to be installing them myself. Is $13,000.00 a good price? I had renewal by anderson come, and they gave me a price of $83,000.00 but if I signed that day, they would drop it by $28,000.00
We have 33? high efficiency Marvin Integrity double hung and some fixed pane (angled windows on large wall). This was a few years back now, but the cost of those windows including the 6 very large custom angled windows was $17K. Anderson was closer to 40K for similar. The Marvin's have a fiberglass exterior, and wood interior, which aesthetically is nice. Matching white outside, and wood inside really was a nice touch. As far as I'm concerned it turned out to be a superior window at half the money.

Having had experience with both now, I'd suggest at least looking at the Marvin options. At 9 years in I've had zero issues with these windows. We'll see in 30 years how I feel, but I'm pretty sure the fiberglass will hold up well. 30 years old Anderson that I have are rotting...

They really do a good job of holding heat back, too. At first I was concerned about seeing condensation on the outside glass in the spring and fall. But then I realized heat loss is so low, they condensed the same moisture as a cold car sitting outside. I had never seen any of my other windows do that before.

Anyway, probably at least worth a look.

It is not the first belly button attack i have had. My hysterectony was laprascopic assisted. This time felt more violent. I am not sure but site looks a llttle angry
:(

My wife has had a couple through her belly button too. She always feels so violated. 😂

I've only had the one. And she's pissed at me about it. Mine healed up without even leaving a scar. She'll poke at it once in a while, and grumble about how not fair it is!

Marvin quoted me forty thousand so that's gonna be out of the ballpark. What's nice?Is these are retro windows? So the frame stays you just do the side tracking and the windows themselves. The windows in there now are single pain. Two hundred series, their thirty nine years old.So when I popped them out reinsulate, caulk, the sides and the windows slide in takes twenty to twenty five minutes to replace the windows. If I had a go with marvin full frame, that means ripping out all the frames and everything. But I understand what you're talking about.
The thirty nine year old andersons are still in good shape. No rotting. I've taken out the existing windows already to replace the.Retention springs in the top header. So with this, it's just screws caulking and popping them in.

That last sentence is the huge red flag.

83k but down to 28k if you sign that day….

Yeah OK. So they could do 2/3 off by paying them right then and there?????

Needless to say, I threw the guy out of the house. When I went to order the windows from anderson, it turns out that renewal by anderson isn't the same company.Renewal has their own window that anderson manufactures for them.

They have a rep for aggressive sales... but that's also Red Flag #1 for "How to Identify a Scammer".

They have a good rep for their products, varies on their customer service, and pricing tends to be 3-5x higher than the competition.

Full disclosure: I've not yet replaced my windows... but have decided 100% not to have the handyman do that job.

That may explain the mixed reviews online.
My guess?
Renewal is scammy
Andersen is not - still may be pricey but not scammy??
The games people will play to make an extra buck
