The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Up. Last night was a stay at the Scrotel13 because Wat messed up booking the landlady and her place. Anyway. There will be a bit of time on the job today and then a trip to the office for the mandatory Xmas "party." Oh, and a summons to see the company accounts manager. I can hardly wait for that. And the extra two hours on the road, which will probably be three.

That little car is in RI, and I keep wonderin' which is gonna be the gooderer root to drive from home to there. And there is that body in DE what needs to get scarfed up, too. One damned thing after another . . . .
You're home now and it's the weekend. I hope you get some time for relaxation. 🥰

Highway robbery from aaa… Literally.

Altho in this day and age… it maybe ain’t such a bad deal depending on the car.
Maybe. No one will touch my car to replace the battery because I have a hybrid. The starter battery is under the back seat. One gets to it through the cargo area. I had to take it to the dealership to get the battery replaced. It cost me damn near what AAA charged! 🤬

I’m sorry you folks are getting the atmospheric river. I saw some video of roads washed away. I’m glad you’re safe.

About 930 am - that’s a late appointment by this early morning person🤣.

I gained several pounds just looking at your pictures of baked goodies. Yum.

I found a recipe for ginger molasses bars. I have to make them😋
Yes. It's really bad. Some rivers haven't even created yet. 😱😱

The lake is full. It's a good storage spot but can only receive from one river. I'm really glad I live on a hill; I'm safe here. I feel bad for those lower and nearer the rivers.

Let us know how your bars turn out!

We were Neti Potting round here for a bit. Then I heard something about ameba’s getting in the brain from tap water? We started using distilled water but then we’d run out and SWMBO insisted it be heated and it all got too much…I might be on the lazy side…

Range day! Happiness is a warm barrel when it’s 35f out. Everyone stay safe and warm…is it Fritag? 🤔

I wonder if this is where @Greylag lives! 😅🤣

SWMBO is from TX…DiL is from TX with a keen interest in homesteading…we have more family our age in TX due to both gals big families…my job I can switch domiciles weeek to weeek…land is relatively cheap in W TX…not a lot of downsides but one.

Momma ain’t mov’n.

So, here we sit.
Someone's gotta keep momma from climbing out the window like a senior-age ninja! 🤣😅🤣

Sorry for your troubles and your loss sweetie. 🥲. Hang in there. Those goodies look good BTW!

I saw a vid of a swollen river and the guy said it was the road to Leavenworth…I wonder if it’s the Leav, WA we’ve been talking about?
Yes. Leavenworth is on the Wenatchee river, which is flooding now.

For something like this, certainly!

Most likely true.

In this case, you can afford it? Maybe annoying, but affordable repair?

It's those down on their luck single moms, who can afford only junk cars who end up really getting screwed. We have a friend, who I've ended up helping a few times. Sometimes that means even buying the parts for her. No car = no job...

Again, the guys in the shop gotta make a living too...
I'm very fortunate to have the resources I need. There are lots of other things I could do with that money, but, yes. I can pay for it. Other things will have to wait.

I'm glad you're able to help your friend who really needs it. Times are hard now. I suspect things will get worse before they get better.

In a previous life I worked on building those lines too. Nothing like working non stop twelves.
Hard to find time to eat or do laundry when there isn't even enough time for sleep.
Same in Nursing. I worked 12s when I did bedside. There were shifts I never sat down, went to the bathroom, ate... But, I didn't do that 5-6 days/week.

Good morning/ day, fellow Spoonies!
I hope this finds all of you and yours doing well!
I'm so far behind on the thread that catching up is likely impossible and my workload has been fairly much insane.
I'll try to find out how @Missk_2022 is healing up from her surgery...
As always, I missed y'all while I was gone!
Glad you're here, Boat! 💝🥰

Was going to say "Good Morning" but it will be afternoon by the time I finish my post
Still... TGIF!!

My brain:
Young Poodle?
Baby Poodle
Baby?
Dirty Dancing
River scene with the dance lift... but with Poodles
Anyone else?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Now, I can't get the picture of Patrick Swayze lifting My Little Pony over his head in the water in the pouring rain! 🤣🤣🤣

If we live in a country of free speech, why are there phone bills?

Ballerinas are always on their toes; why don’t they just get taller ballerinas?

I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she left me before we met.

I think it’s wrong that only one company makes the game Monopoly.

Why don’t they make the whole plane out of that black box stuff.

Cross country skiing is great… if you live in a very small country.

Do people in Australia, call the rest of the world, “Up Over”?

I’ve always been bad at spelling – not sure whether it’s nature or nurture.

Technical question mister wat. I have 23 windows in my house.
Anderson Narroline 200 Series. I'm replacing all twenty three twenty two of them are double hung. One is a casement window. Anderson has a conversion kit for 400 series tilt and wash dual pane windows and full screens. I'm going to be installing them myself. Is $13,000.00 a good price? I had renewal by anderson come, and they gave me a price of $83,000.00 but if I signed that day, they would drop it by $28,000.00
I would caution you against Renewal by Anderson. We looked at them when we replaced all the windows and a window wall. It was the same pitch. Verrrrrrry expensive. But wait! Sign today and we'll knock the price way down.

It's a scam. They don't have a good reputation in this area.

We elected to hire a contractor and bought our windows from Milgard. They have a lifetime warranty. Our windows are wood wrap on the inside and fiberglass on the outside. Triple pane. The contractor did an excellent job!

I am literally counting down the days till the days get longer.
What's the Official Count?
I think we need a Weasel Watch # and a Longer Days Count # to start of each day.
Anyone else?
Maybe. No one will touch my car to replace the battery because I have a hybrid. The starter battery is under the back seat. One gets to it through the cargo area. I had to take it to the dealership to get the battery replaced. It cost me damn near what AAA charged! 🤬
Never had a hybrid - don't know anything about them really.
But have learned from experience when car shopping to ask:
Where are the spark plugs located?
How are the headlights accessed when a bulb needs changing?
I factor in how difficult it is for the salesperson to get their hands in close enough to point things out.
I don't want a car that needs the engine dropped just to change a plug or bulb.
I didn't think I would be able to, but it really made a huge difference for me. And it keeps me from splashing water all over the sink area like a rabid raccoon!
I've not tried the actual Neti Pot.

Instead, I got the NeilMed Squeeze Bottle. I figured that would offer me a bit more control.

Still, the first try was a near drowning. I reviewed a few YouTube videos - you need to tilt your head to the side... and the next try went much better. Takes a bit to feel comfortable doing it. But once you get the knack, you no longer feel water logged by the process.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Now, I can't get the picture of Patrick Swayze lifting My Little Pony over his head in the water in the pouring rain! 🤣🤣🤣
Welcome to my world
My brain takes me to some... interesting places 😂

IDK how I'm still awake...
Off to remedy that now
Sweet Dreams, Spoonies
Keep warm... the Polar Vortex starts now 🥶
