The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Morning all. Had a productive day yesterday. Happy that the Elf problem was taken care of when I get up this morning and what do I hear? 😮. Fevered clawing and scratching! I go outside, and sure enough…there he is. Sitting by the newly Jerry-Rigged vent! Just looking at me. I clap and say “scat” and he runs a few feet, stops, and just looks at me. Not one ounce of fear in his wee bones.

So I laugh, thinking I’ve outsmarted this furry little bastard, when he runs to the one vent that I couldn’t reach yesterday (it didn’t look violated TBH) and stops…but he doesn’t go down. I’m grinning ear to ear when I think…maybe I should go make sure I didn’t trap one in there.

Go back in…SHIT…I hear him. Run back down and look up…no tree rat to be seen. 😭. So now…

The plan is to sit by the fire and observe…see if he’s going down the uncovered vent. If not…then back up on the roof to unplug the vent so the trapped bastard can get out…then have to decide…buy a trap and get him myself or call a guy who sets traps for $150 a day till they nab the critter(s)…or get a .10c pellet and brush up on my sniping skills…🤷🏻‍♂️

The first shot is from the attic…they’ve eaten the pipe a good foot down…plus the rubber boot and the roofing to make the hole bigger! The last shot I just balled some chicken wire up and capped it…BTW the caps I bought wont work because there’s nothing to attach them too…they ate it!

So…HoHoHO…it’s off to fight squirrels we go…

Happy Last Saturday Before Christmas
Got up early for the post office IYKYK
Winding down for a nap
but first a quick check in...
Cancel that new rule @Missk_2022
Here's a great way to sleep right through for six hours without needing a pee: play sport for two hours and instead of rehydrating with water, try mulled cider instead (fortified with a drop or two of scotch and ginger wine)!
Sounds like a recipe for a rager hangover  Yikes!
I feel a nap is needed
My perennial state - to be remedied once this is posted :ROFLMAO:
I got to see them use a Hoyer lift to get him from his chair to the bed. It was pretty amazing.
Never knew the name for it. I first saw one when I was a young child. An older relative's friend or cousin was in a wheelchair. They used that kind of lift to get him in/out of the car. I've seen several since then, but that was my first. I think it was the mass celebration for my mom's cousin's 25th Jubilee as a priest... and I think the man's name was Charlie. Wow - needed the Way Back Time Machine to go all the way back to that one. 😂
And there are always snacks to make a distribute
People snacks or kitteh snacks?
Asking for a friend :ROFLMAO:
make the best informed decision possible
This is me!
But, of course it is! How else are you going to have enough energy for that night's band gig without a good cat nap after your day job? 🤭
So…HoHoHO…it’s off to fight squirrels we go
Fight those furry little bastards with everything you have!!
Also - might be worth the money to install something they can't eat through?

And with that, I'm off to Nap Town
Later, spoonies!!

It was literally a drop or two of Scotch and ginger wine (the dregs of a couple of bottles happily emptied to make way for the Christmas provisions).

Both... although ingredients may differ

Up at 430. The old dog has to go out.

Forecast is for a warming trend up in the 30s from the blustery 20s yesterday. More temperatures swings all week long. Weird weather.

I feel a nap is needed

We're in the middle of a good storm. Had to go out and clear driveways this morning, and realized I needed fuel. So, off the the next town over for a couple of 5 gallon cans worth. They sure rape you for #1 diesel now. Damn near $5 a gallon!
(But still way better than having it gel up. Ask me how I know...)

Anyway, we're at 10F, 30mph winds, and snow falling.

We're supposed to meet some friends tonight for dinner. We haven't called it either way, yet. This looks bad, but as long as the drifting isn't too bad, it'll be fine.

WOW that looks really bad. Is that Lake Effect snow? / Snow Squall I live in Ontario Canada and they have closed a bunch of Highways because of Snow Squalls.

There would be death and dismemberment and hell to pay if that was my vent! WOW!

We had a problem with flying squirrels a few years back. I don't know if you've ever seen them up close. Very beautiful little critters, but destructive. Ended up setting som big rat traps, wound the trigger with yarn, and mashed peanut butter in there. (Must humane way I could come up with to dispatch them in the middle of the night).

Not sure what size squirrel you have , but maybe the same thing, but with a piece of steel wire added as a tether would work???

We have gray squirrels and reds here. They grays are awesome at the bird feeder, and I've never seen the. Damage anything. The reds get the 20Ga every time...

I don't think you're too far (geographically speaking) lake Superior lake effect.

Did you know the proper pronunciation is "lake e-fucked"? ;)
LOL I didnt know that was the pronounciation of it..That made me laugh thank you for that.. Im in the Deep South of Ontario in a small town between Windsor and Sarnia near Lake St. Clair.
