We had a problem with flying squirrels a few years back. I don't know if you've ever seen them up close. Very beautiful little critters, but destructive. Ended up setting som big rat traps, wound the trigger with yarn, and mashed peanut butter in there. (Must humane way I could come up with to dispatch them in the middle of the night).

Not sure what size squirrel you have , but maybe the same thing, but with a piece of steel wire added as a tether would work???

We have gray squirrels and reds here. They grays are awesome at the bird feeder, and I've never seen the. Damage anything. The reds get the 20Ga every time...

Went back up on the roof to undo the Hillbilly cage I put on due to one trapped critter. Sat out all day but never saw him escape. Rolled the dice and went back up on the roof…for round three. Reattached the screen…No scratching like yesterday this morning…hopefully I’ve got a temporary fix till I can do this right…after Christmas of course.

We have Grey Squirrels and Flying. When this Non-Native Killing Machine was alive, his dawn patrols eliminated both (I haven’t forgiven him for the Flying…they were pretty tame)


Cooking for the tribe today. Wrapping some presents. Keeping fingers crossed I don’t here the pitter-patter of little fury bastages…

I went to the pet store and looked at the adoptable kitty cats... they had one named max that was enourmous

Wat has what he calls his SSS - Squirrel Sniping System. It's a Marlin 60 with a Bushnell 3x9 scope zero'ed gnat's ass at 25 yards with subsonic ammo. The semi-auto will still cycle that round, oddly enough. It doesn't alert the neighbors.


Of course, Out West, There are almost no neighbors to alert.

Funny…I have that same Triple S…. Minus the 3x9…wait…I have an old Bushnell off a Pellet gun I had as a kid…now for that sub sonic ammo…

I’m right there. I have a hard time w iron sights now.

Focusing on the target, the blade sight and the notch/peep is maddening these days.

So yeah… sights on rifles. Except my old shit. Can’t bubbarize classic rifles.

We’ll see how bad my sight is when we mass-a-cree the pumpkins in a week or so.

As Sgt York said famously in the movie about himself…”the Haze needs to be cut on that front site…”—something along those lines. It’s all a bit hazy beyond that front iron for me now and I like a dot or magnification more and more.

Good Idea on the alternate site. I had a friend drag me over to Discord a couple yrs ago and it’s passable. I hate to admit I never quite figured out the whole site but as far as chatting with her, it worked great. Just exchange Discord handles and accept friendship vows.

I might need a helping hand for sure! SWMBO is even considering a new kitty. Could have nabbed a free one a summer ago, but she didn’t want a pet…till her house got invaded!
