We have a small pond on our farm property. It is loud. In a good way! They hibernate down south too. I read once that something triggers like an antifreeze in their blood that allows them to survive until spring. When the first warm spring rains come, they overrun roads getting to ponds. The sounds at night can be deafening. I hope spring comes in March.
