The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Better to be safe than sorry. I would open up the attic stairs and throw some salt up on the roof. l had a friend that was a roofer and he fell off a roof but survived. Maybe a flat roof would be OK to clean off but even they will melt over time. Anyway, BE SAFE
About 10 years ago we had a big snowfall and the north side of he roof started to ice dam. Water wasn’t coming in the house but it was a real worry.

We read online to take old socks - Fill them with rock salt or ice melt and lay them perpendicular across the gutter.

It worked and they melted channels for the ice to drip across the frozen gutter and right off the roof.

I didn't know about the socks, great idea. I might tell my friends about it back in PA.

I have been there! I worked on a project up that way for several weeks so I had to drive over.
We went on GHD last year. The night before was loads of fun, but standing in the northern tier of PA in 5° wasn’t all that great.

That part was actually pretty not fun. Getting up at 230, finding a parking lot, then getting bussed there, freezing our brass monkeys and then waiting to get back out for busses.

Too many people and for what??? 🤷🏼‍♂️

I understand the cold. There is a lot of natural gas up that way in PA and I visited a house where they had a pipe running into the ground that collected the gas and they used it for heat! They had a flare outside burning all the time.
I always recommend merino wool for cold weather. I recall my first sox and then long johns and then a sweater.

I dressed appropriately, hand and foot warmers and the whole bit.

But when your smooshed together with 10k of your best friends and can’t move is when the cold starts getting you. We were outside from 330- 11am. All you could do was stamp your feet to get some blood flow going.

I may do it again but in a few years when it’s on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

That is too long outside in that cold and just standing around. St least when I was hunting I could walk. I forget when frostbite sets in. I almost went to the South Pole one time to work on some equipment. They shipped it back.
