Wat's Tactical Meatloaf:

1 cup fine fresh bread crumbs. You may use canned at your peril
1/3 cup whole milk. I often substitute half and half if it's in stock at the house.
2 medium onions
1 medium green pepper
2 eggs, extra large preferred
1/2 cup Paul Newman's own marinara
5 cloves garlic. You may substitute the jar kind if need be. I use 2 tablespoons if I do.
2 heaping teaspoons salt. Sea salt is better to open
1.5 teaspoons black pepper - your call
2 tablespoons olive oil - use the better stuff and not the cheap shit
1 tablespoon Dash - and a touch more for good measure
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Sauer's BBQ sauce
1 tablespoon A1
1 tablespoon good Italian dressing - I like Newman's Own
1 pound ground chuck, or sirloin if it's available.
1 pound mild Italian sausage - hot if you prefer, but you might want to hold off until you've made this version first and tried it.

Preheat oven to 375*F

Soak breadcrumbs in the dairy bit in a mixing bowl.

Finely chop the onions and pepper. Put the oil in a frying pan and saute the onions, green pepper and garlic. Add a bit of the salt and black pepper as it cooks. 5-8 minutes is usually good.

Add this mixture to the mixing bowl. add half of the marinara and the remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly. I use a power mixer as stirring 2 pounds of meat gets old quickly. It also seems to blend things better. Pack mixture into a loaf pan and add the other half of the marinara on top. Bake for 75 minutes.

Note: I have added bacon strips on top, but it doesn't cook to a very satisfying texture, so I stopped using it. You might like it - who knows? You'll be in awe of the meatloaf.
This looks fab. Mine is similar, but instead of milk I used eggs - I was told it was a binding agent to keep it all together. Maybe milk does the same?

I know ai is all the rage, but didn’t think you could put it in meatloaf.

Who knew??

Dates are a common sub for sugar unless your bakery item needs to retain a lighter, whiter color.
Eaten alone they will spike my blood sugar but I like baking with them.
While it's an extra step, I prefer to remove the pit myself. In truth buying them with the pits already removed may not dry them out. There's a great Middle Eastern Deli about a half hour drive from me that sells scrumptious Medjool Dates in bulk. They're like Nature's Caramels
I get pit in and they are so much better

I just talked to my mom and apparently gracie is sleeping in the chair i normally sit in
Of course she is 😻
I ran out mid recipe.... had to go to the dollar general for more
oooh - I hate that! I hope it was at a point where you could just pause and not have to toss everything up to that point and start over  Because that game is really fun 😏
I get pit in and they are so much better
I agree... my arthritis/tendonitis sometimes stages a protest  😂
Urgh. No cussing and swearing but the two doughs rolled up for shit.

They’re gonna suck (visually) but I’m sure they’ll taste good.

I am not a baker.
I'm sure they taste just fine. I've never tried making these, but have read the instructions. No judgment here
They do taste pretty good!
See?!? And half your batch look just fine... that's the half you give away. My family? Some would intentionally screw up half the batch because clearly that's not "company worthy" and must be held back  :ROFLMAO:
Wait a minute... 🤨 😂

My orange bread tastes a bit bitter... too much zest?. I am going to put some frosting on it tomorrow.... if it still sucks it can go to dads dialysis nurses.... or in the garbage
A thin confectioner's sugar glaze will fix that right up
Poke a few little holes in the cakes, too... narrow ones like from a bunch of toothpick pokes
Isn't that what they call those Poke Cakes that are so popular? 😋
