The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

And we get a Cold snap this weekend. Indian Winter.

Did I mention that the new stereo kicks it??? It does.
I saw that. 25 at night again. Do I need to drain my hoses? I'm not taking them down. I missed having them. Clean car and the ability to spray the green gunk out of the heated birdbath is priceless.
Otherwise I will take the cold nights. Might see a spider or two but no noseeums or mosquitos.
Last night was still warm. About 6:30am a cat and ? another cat, raccoon maybe were having at it. The cat was white when I saw it from the window. The other had a tail like a racoon. I just never heard of a cat raccoon fight. It wasn't a skunk. I haven't smelled that for a few days now. Come to think of it I have not seen the fox either. With no snow cover I guess they don't come this far out of the woods.
I love a new stereo. Makes the music sound new.

Good luck with PT. I recently had a bad experience but most of the time it’s good.

You used to drum on Ludwig sets? I did too. I sold my set when my X wanted a new dining table. That was a mistake. I would love to try and play again.
OK…here’s the rest of the story!

Grandaddy traded a dood a pistol for this Ludwig drum set. My parents were overjoyed…as you can imagine. So, yes, a six year old, had a 7 piece Ludwig set…mother of pearl to boot…keep that in mind.

So I banged on these things for years, never really learning how to play other than by what I could copy. See, our local indoctrination center deemed you couldn’t learn drums till Junior HS…Grade school I had to settle on the trumpet…my dads choice, not mine…because, you know…he played the trumpet way back when. 🙄

So I sort of dropped the horn after a couple of years. Not because I wasn’t good at it, just because sports and surfing and girls started encroaching on practice time. The drums I always circled back to, but they suffered the same attention deficit I gave the trumpet.

When I went off to college, to gain a little knowledge, momma, who can’t stand clutter, asked if she could “donate” my drums to her church who had a praise band. I figured I probably wasn’t going to pick them up, so gave in.

Fast forward many years later, and I take her to church. “My” drums aren’t nowhere in sight? They had some drums, but not my drums. Well, when I finally got serious about music a few years ago, I took some lessons and my guitar teacher was telling me a seven piece Ludwig drum kit in Mother of Pearl is fetching north of $10k nowadays? That explains my missing drums.

I’ve never really got over it. Especially now that my youngest plays the drums!

Lesson learned here boys and girls…never ever ever…sell your musical instruments and guns. Just don’t!

Yes do not sell them. I had formal lessons. My drum set was a snare, 2 tom-toms , a base and a floor tom. I had cymbals, hi-hat, crash and ride. The colors was sparkling champagne. I taught as well as in a couple of bands. I never should have given it up. Who knows, I may buy a set and play for the fun of it.

Today is a nice day. The AC says 96 so the sun must be shining on it. Its 85. The deck is 126, feels good under my feet. The siding reads 111 and the water in the birdbath 84.
Out front I bet it still feels chilly in the damp shade of the house. I wish it was going to last. deck2.jpgdeck3.jpgdeck1.jpg

I love the laser temperature thingies.

I have a couple of them. They may have been bought by former employers . . . .

Wow. Just got a call from my favorite subcontractor from the former job. He called, his words, to thank me for making his job easier. He told me that Wat made his lead supervisor look good. He said that Wat just made stuff run better, and that there are "struggles" now. I know, imagine that. Wat met him the second day working there, and after talking to him for maybe as many as 30 minutes, he told Wat that he, Wat, was the smartest guy working there. And now this.

Who knew?

Just . . . wow . . . .

And some cars.

I sold a gun once. I regretted it not long after and it still annoys me.
I'm gonna miss this car when it finally wears out.
I still have dads old bb gun that shoots way low to the right. Last time I was shooting it I noticed it wasn't low and to the right. It basically throws a screwball consistently low and to the right.
I have not sold a gun. I do have a fooseball table from about the 1969 era with wide feet. Needs a little professional care and has been taking up space since '89 when I rescued it from a neighbor's house they were going to tear down the addition that went bad. One day I will try to fix it. I put off taking the men off the rods and fixing the warp long enough the floor needs replaced again. I did a pretty good job using particle board to match the texture of the original equipment. Problem is I assume I thought I would never replace it and am not sure how to un-glue the French flooring from my particle board and corner ramps.
Yet I will never pass on the table. Waking up from that dream would be like losing a finger or a toe.

The laser thingies are useful. It won't tell you the temp inside the grill. However, if you measured when you did have a probe in there you can estimate without having to hook up the smoke pro. Cooking on an 18" grill opening the lid is like starting over. And too much flame/heat it is so easy to burn chicken. My goal is to always have some edible skin. I think I like it better than the chicken.
I like the instant read for sensing meat. I have a water proof probe for the sous vide. I saw a 4 pack of wireless probes at costco and managed to walk past them. Went back the next week and they were gone. I am thinking I will have a set of those before long. Shrinking one in the bag for sous vide will be interesting. See how long it takes the middle of the food to actually get to temp. Not to mention the rotisserie.
Speaking of instant reads.... I turned the AC on the first time today and my Mom called. Completely forgot to find the difference from the blower and the return. I should need it tomorrow I can test then. After that we get a blast or more when the cold front comes in and won't the AC for a while. I wonder if it feels colder than it was after feeling real air the last few days?

Talking about how cloudy our memories were the other day…I don’t remember a band. I only remember JC out singing. I do remember getting home and attempting to pound out Kaw-LIga on a 7 piece Ludwig drum set (The story of my drum set…is for another day…safe to say I’ve never forgiven Momma for her hand in it’s demise…😡) my grandfather had traded a pistol for. So, there had to be a band backing him…

Maybe that ameba got to my brain after all? 🤷🏻‍♂️

We should start a band with three drummers. You guys have the talent, I could just hit the drums hard like Bonzo, and fast like Philthy Phil Taylor.

Here’s me I my prime on the Rutgers daily paper in 84 or 85ish when I was in Skid.
