The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I had heard so much about Hershey chocolate in the decades before I finally travelled to the U.S. When I eventually got to try it I was underwhelmed, to say the least.
My taste buds are not what they used to be but I would generally agree. They have changed over the years and more interested in money than taste. Hershey does support the Milton Hershey School which helps disadvantaged students. I would love to have an Hershey bar or kiss from my youth to compare to the ones they make now, many of their products are made in Mexico now. I helped build equipment for the factories they have down there.

Thunderstorms around 2 to 3 and lots of rain early this morning came through. The major damage around me was too much water. The more severe storms went to the South. Are you ok MissK?
So far...there.wertr tornados in illinois.... what in the hell is going on with this weather..... all these fronts coming through 70 one day 35.the next

We should start a band with three drummers. You guys have the talent, I could just hit the drums hard like Bonzo, and fast like Philthy Phil Taylor.

Here’s me I my prime on the Rutgers daily paper in 84 or 85ish when I was in Skid.

I’ve never actually played in a “real” band…well, once in 6th grade…but it was a one time thing…my lifelong friend and band mate is now a preacher…he still plays in the church praise band. I guess I could start walking in the light again…get me some of that Ol’ Time Religion?
This right here….

A great start to a story

A song
Thanks! It’s got country song vibes all over it. Might need to take some liberties with it…you’re right…it’s got good bones!

Wiped out from PT yesterday, so didn’t get much done. My human cat crawled up in my chair w me and we napped a good part of the afternoon. Had a chat w momma and all’s well. She got another All Clear on the cancer front. So that made my day! OH! I found my knife! Bonus.

Don’t have the photog info for today’s MZ…

Young E. Only Elvis story I have is a good buddy growing up saw him for his first concert when they lived in Florida. I’ve always been sort of, “Eh”, bout Elvis because he was my parents guy. I recently tuned up the E channel on the Sirius and I have to say…he’s got a ton of good work that never made the airwaves as far as I remember.

I will also say, his Christmas album has been in the HDH household rotation since my earliest memories. Christmas ain’t Christmas without those songs. So there’s that….

Everyone have a great day. It’s dart night, so no interruptions. I have to concentrate. 😄

I think you should b2.

I was thinking of doing the same abt 5 years ago. I think on Craigslist I found a bunch of barely played kits (all posted by the parents of teens), for not too much money.

Plus when my mom was going really deaf, her ear doc urged her to listen to more music or make more noise…. She started playing the bongos (I kid you not). She really enjoyed it!!

So getting drums may just be good also to stimulate your ear drum!
That’s a great idea! You can pick up some used Bongo’s or even a good conga set for cheap on the used market.

My youngest is on the scale and one of the “tells” or “ticks” he had early on was he’d drum…on mommas piano or just tapping out rhythms on any flat surface. When I started noticing patterns, and rhythm, I went a found a set of mini-bongos. Picked them up for around $30 brand new.

Brought them home and of course went straight to SOAK (Source Of All Knowledge…for the noobs) and we learned how to tap out a salsa beat.

Couple of months later, the local HS did a Lion King play and all the grade schools were invited. I chaperoned and before the play, a few of the band members dressed in costume were carrying conga drums around and letting the little ones bang on them.

When the gal came up to us I told my son to tap out his salsa beat. He does and the girl instantly recognized it and said “heeeey, that’s good!”

Made his day!

I feel the same way about Ghirardelli. I like some of Sees stuff but that is more like candy or toffee. Since the price of chocolate creeped up to 4$ a batch of cookies I'm a semi sweet chocolate slut. Lately the walmart brand is 2.99. At Lidle that tried to copy Aldi I got their brand 2 for 4.79$. Since Lindt are 5$ or 6$ a bar I do the walmart brand dark chocolate chips. I have to have them with milk. They don't taste right with the red wine.
You're in Europe so you can get chocolate without all the emulsifiers. All our chocolate has soy lecithin in it amongst other things. Try melting it. Turns into a solid.

Wonder if some of this is why our people are sick

Sounds very possible.

I have situations where my nose will run buckets for about five minutes after I finish doing a couple of activities. One of them is eating. It doesn’t happen every time, but it happens frequently. Another one recently is stepping out of the shower. Within five minutes, my nose runs buckets for another five minutes. It’s pretty annoying. Then it goes away and that’s that.

Go figure

Myself and several members of my family experience this. We refer to it as turns to liquid for no real reason.
We all notice that we never experienced this phenomenon before we were forced to get the COVID shot or lose our job or get kicked out of the retirement community.
As for the new labels on the common cold I’ve never seen a test to verify the condition exists. Seems they are labeling cold symptoms and trying to market medications. Almost none of the OTC meds that were available before COVID exist now. Each brand has the same ingredients. Which makes me curious what is in the remedies for the newly named common cold.
One change I was disappointed to see was in Canada codeine is no longer in Theraflu. The sleep after drinking a packet of that was priceless when you had the cough you couldn’t sleep with. Now a symptom of the common cold is it robs you of sleep. Or did it?

Well, after the shower makes perfect sense. Steam will cause moisture in your nasal passages which loosens the mucus, so your nose runs. As for the food, that is not uncommon in folks who may be sensitive to certain spices.

I frequently just tell people that I’m allergic to food. Apparently, I am also allergic to showers now. Honestly, none of this crap makes any difference at all.
