The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Here snow of any substance is a once every couple of years kind of thing. Years like this ours was easy to move. So it comes and goes like an event. Pray the power stays on and feast sleep and keep warm. I’m not sure how I would tolerate repeat events. Sorry for you. Hope it’s not a problem.
You said you're near DC? Was there last fall, and wondered what the winters were like.

I'm guessing the summers are too hot for my liking. Cool fall, winter, and spring means we get a pretty cool summer too. So, it's not all bad. ;)

Goodnight everyone.

ok - here we go... oooh - another 2 part post due to the 10k character limit (again) 😂
Part 1:
I have about 83782578824 ideas for a band name. Let’s do it!! 😂
I have about 83782578823 posts bookmarked with @Wonderer67 band names so far... so that tracks :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
My kids took me to a bar trivia contest one night when I was visiting years ago. We lost by 10 or 20 points to a table of 6 because they didn't give me credit for my bad French pronunciation of Nostradamus's real name, which was worth 40 points.

We wuz robbed!!!
I didn’t know that he (Nostradamus) even had another name.

You WUZ robbed!
Definitely - shoulda got points for spelling to offset pronunciation 😤
They did have three portable a/c units that I did know about, and all were MIA when I last toured the jobs.
I'm shocked... shocked, I tell you! 🤭
Reveling in my hOOr-ibility.

💯 agree
Good news - it's said not to mutate as often or dramatically as some others making it a good candidate for a vaccine 🤞

I found some shade. Now I feel like I could fall off to sleep no problem
Don't do it... that trisky sun will move and so will the deceptive shade. Next thing you know... you're the color of a cooked lobster laid out in the ER with blisters and an IV 😬
Been snowing all day here. Is anyone even the least bit surprised? 😂

Lazy night tonight. Might do some reading, and not worry about dozing off if it comes to that. Sometimes that's what happens...
Shocked, I tell you... shocked and appalled :ROFLMAO:

Part 2:
My taste buds are not what they used to be but I would generally agree. They have changed over the years and more interested in money than taste. Hershey does support the Milton Hershey School which helps disadvantaged students. I would love to have an Hershey bar or kiss from my youth to compare to the ones they make now, many of their products are made in Mexico now. I helped build equipment for the factories they have down there.
I'd love one from my grandfather's youth... depression era chocolate... plus I distinctly recall him saying a Hershey Bar cost him a nickel. My price at the time was a whole quarter. And me too young for a job and no allowance. Of course I didn't even like chocolate for another 3 or 4 decades :ROFLMAO:
I have situations where my nose will run buckets for about five minutes after I finish doing a couple of activities. One of them is eating. It doesn’t happen every time, but it happens frequently. Another one recently is stepping out of the shower. Within five minutes, my nose runs buckets for another five minutes. It’s pretty annoying. Then it goes away and that’s that.
Can't tell you how much I enjoy driving down the road and having one eye (please just the one) start to water uncontollably for no apparent reason.
I figure something got past the air filter and triggered it.
Most times I need to pull over, put on the hazards, and press with a tissue until it stops. Safety first, right?
As for the food, that is not uncommon in folks who may be sensitive to certain spices.
Nothing better when stuffed up than a bowl of spicy ramen noodle soup to get things moving again. 😌😌😌
The only time I remember my nose running like that before is going outside when it is really cold in NJ. Specially if it was still snowing or I was shoveling snow. It happened to pretty much everyone. Being from the south I had never experienced it before.
Midwest here - am familiar

Where I went to college, there's a footbridge over the river. In winter the wind whipping over the river can drop the temps on that bridge to the lowest recorded in continental US.
IDK about you, but cold and windy winter days make my eyes water. So, on more than one occasion as I was walking across my eyes watered. You can guess what happened next, right?

The tears would freeze and my eyelashes would freeze my eyes shut. Functionally blind. I'd make my way to the railing and follow that to the end of the bridge.

But then I was stuck haha... with about 200 feet of curving sidewalk to navigate before the closest campus building.

It was stand there forever or be bold.
Little Freshman Me: *loudly*
Is there anyone who can guide me to the Fine Arts Building? My eyelashes froze shut and I can't see.

Might take 2-3 tries but I always found someone who would guide me into the building. I would then find the wall and take 3 steps away from the doors and just stand there until the ice melted and I could open my eyes again.

Honestly surprized I never lost a contact lens with that BS.
For any of you on campus when "that girl's eyes froze shut on the bridge"... Yep, that was me. I've outed myself now :ROFLMAO:
soy lecithin?

Rumor has it a lot of Europeans don't like our chocolate because of that. We have a friend on the isles, who brings bags of M&M for us, because they taste different than ours.
While derived from soy (one of the top 8 allergens), it's said there isn't enough soy protein in it to trigger a reaction in most.
But - if you're sensitive to it... it will play a mean bongos on your GI system

Wiped out from PT yesterday, so didn’t get much done. My human cat crawled up in my chair w me and we napped a good part of the afternoon. Had a chat w momma and all’s well. She got another All Clear on the cancer front. So that made my day! OH! I found my knife! Bonus.

I'm guessing the summers are too hot for my liking.
I avoid DC in the summer. They tend to get some wicked Mid-Atlantic humidity that I cannot handle. 🫠
From after the Cherry Blossom season (early April) until mid-October I tend to steer clear. 🥵

Weather aside, it's an awesome place to visit IMO. So much to do, places to visit, libraries, museums, music, food... never ending possibilities.

Plus I have family and family-of-choice there... so guaranteed a good time!!
Cool fall, winter, and spring means we get a pretty cool summer too. So, it's not all bad. ;)
IDK if I could handle all that snow - couldn't clear it myself. That's for dang sure. But cool summers? Sign me up!!
*Makes note to visit the UP in summertime* 😁

Goodnight everyone.
When I lived in Jersey there was always 2 weeks usually in August that were too hot. Some years a few more weeks.
Here we get about 6 weeks that I could do without. For a few years I think it was 22 and 23 the summers were under smoke cover from distant forest fires. Notably cooler and liked it.
Dont remember when it was but sometime after 2012 we had one summer we only broke 90 a few times. In the 90’s I don’t remember how hot it was but on the lakes in VA and NC where I had family it rained every weekend while it was warm enough to get in the water.
Of my 20 years in Jersey I do remember liking the cooler summer. Many years needing a sweat shirt to be comfortable watching fireworks. How “cold” nights were at the shore.
Hot summers here when I have to be outside I pace myself. I hate feeling like the heat is actually beating me.
Growing up in SC I never had an issue with the heat. Reveled in it. Sun bleached hair my sheet white skin tanned dark. No way I could spend full days on the boat much less throwing back a case of beer.
I’m still motivated to make the move further south. Need to get back to where family and life long friends that are considered family. I’ll still be outside only in shade with a fan. Which is what I do here. Awning on the deck so I and my house plants are not baked by direct sun.

Another long ass day…. This week has suck balls…

Fuckin work
Then I made dinner
Then tax stuff
Took a break around nine to watch the episode of Jeopardy that we recorded
Then back to it to finish up more financials
Now I’m going to fuckin bed

Is there no end to your wondemousness???

Make sure it’s after mosquito and “no-see-um” season. They are nasty. They will drive moose into the lake to get away from them.

Up. Coffee. Daily high temp was at midnight and it'll drop all day. Rain starts soon. Sneaux at sunset, maybe. Injun Winter. The joys of Changing Seasons.

I reckon that I shan't haul any trim material today as the weather ain't conducive. Wet, you see. Not sure that 8 foot stuff quite fits in the back of the truck. It might, but why risk it, and I'd still have to carry it into the building anyway. No matter, there is plenty to do here, too.
