The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Hangin' in there, with tenacity and dedication. However, I feel a bit more bettermus today.
One of my daughters had a virus for five or six months last year that came and went. She eventually had it cultured and the virus was identified as . . . A cold.

Not all colds are created equal. The one I came down with in October followed the usual pattern: symptoms appeared on day one and were worst on day two and three. After that they faded and it would be hard to say when it was over, but it didn't take much more than a week.

Good luck with yours.

Thanks. I think I'm on the mend!

Our autumn storm is getting a little out of hand. The weather service is predicting six inches of snow in the city, which is rare, and nearly four feet of snow in the mountains and along a many-mile stretch of Interstate 25 between Santa Fe and Colorado.

It's coming down now, but it's about half rain and half snow.

We're less than halfway through this storm. I-25 is closed north of here, I-40 is closed east of here, and driving conditions on both interstates are "severe."

Santa Fe got a ton of snow, but here we have maybe a couple inches and (for now) sunshine.

These storms usually get worse as they move east and north. Good luck to folks out on the plains.

I went to the doctor again today. Not great news. I have walking pneumonia, whateverthefuck that is. So more meds, more bed, less writing, less chatting. Well, more bed rest, at least. So, how's y'alls day?

Walking pneumonia is on the upswing in North America, Millie. Do stay away from people (well, maybe not your enemies) until you're all well.
It's a form of pneumonia which can be very long lasting and debilitating, but not sending you to bed.
I'm doing okay, though some of the close relatives are down with Covid again.

still having high 90s here but supposed to drop down to low 90s/high 80s this week; still no rain; latest tropical storm is supposed to go very far East of Texas (again). Still running A/C full blast 24/7; still wearing sandals, shorts and tank tops. Hopefully October will be cooler and maybe some rain; last of the great-grandkids birthday coming up then (and also the deceased husband's birthday--he would have been 75).
We finally got rain in Houston. It has been a while

What is a jammie dodger?

The ski slope at the edge of town is open, thanks to three feet of snow in the last couple days. I don't remember the last time they opened this early. Last year they didn't open at all.

What is a jammie dodger?
According to Wikipedia:
Jammie Dodgers are a popular British biscuit, made from shortcake with a raspberry or strawberry flavoured jam filling. Bought by Burton Biscuit works in 1960,[1] they are currently produced by Burton's Biscuit Company at its factory in Llantarnam. In 2009, Jammie Dodgers were the most popular children's sweet biscuit brand in the United Kingdom, with 40% of the year's sales consumed by adults.
