The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

I assigned myself the afternoon task of repairing a shower that's been dripping for years. I waited until my wife left for some shopping so I could turn off the water while she was gone. It was still off when she got home.

I got the faucet apart, but couldn't get it back together. Sprayed water everywhere a couple times and otherwise just had a frustrating afternoon. I had some trouble getting the thing back together on the first attempt, and I probably damaged a spring or washer doing it. I eventually put the old spring and washer in with the new cartridge, and it worked in one go. It just took three hours to get to that point.

They can, but I try to behave.

Don't do that.... I think most of us like you when you're feisty! ( of course, I'm still known for liking the "bad girls." ) In college, my frat actually put up a cork board near my room and posted pictures of quote "Bad Ass Bitches" Unquote that they thought I should date. at first I kinda liked it because it was pics of tough girls from movies and stuff... but it later became like stuff from the enquirer about "Florida Woman Burns Boyfriend Alive For Cheating" and that kind of stuff. No thanks. I was cool with the pics of Joan Jett, but not the newsprint horror stuff.

Many jobs are like that. What appears to be easy turns its head and laughs or snickers at us. In your case, perseverance won out. Just smile at the thought of how much a plumber would have charged you!

'Good job, husband; I'm proud of you,' is what I bet your wife said.

A new day. I finished the New York Times hard Sudoku in 20 minutes. No surprise conference calls yet. I need to re-start day three of the WIP. Maybe I'll plant cantaloupe and Armenian cucumbers later today. I planted sweet corn yesterday.

My audience of cats awaits breakfast.

Oh, I so want that mug.

Today was the first day I seriously thought about retirement. We've got a problem with a new pipeline for a district heating system, not helped by the building maintenance manager neglecting to tell me some crucial information for starting the pumps back up. My acting manager's response? Printing out the contract, highlighting one section, ordering me to a meeting with the Director and tapping the contract demanding to see the inspection and test plan for commissioning. Like that would have helped. What would have helped was the usless maintenance manager slipping into the many conversations we've had about this - "Oh, by the way, you can't run the system at the designed 80psi. You have to wind it back to 25, or you'll blow the shit out of the old stuff."

And we did. Nearly $30k of shit.

Im so pissed off.

Just sayin', D.

Sorry I'm late with the coffee today. I was so into editing and finishing up my story I lost track of time.

I found an empty coffee pot on the burner and whoever did it better 'fess up. I've started a new pot and made sure the teapot was hot. I found some danishes in the back of the fridge so I hope they're okay.

Now I get to start working on a new story! :nana::nana:

Not me. I was asleep, dreaming of gruesome ways to inflict pain on the keeper of silos.

Hoping today will be better. It's starting with a three hour software upgrade meeting, so yay. 🙄

Ah, the smell of roasting marshmallows on the burner for the coffee pot ... not!

I have a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot. I baked some blueberry muffins and iced them with cream cheese icing so they are warm and on the counter.

Don't you just love the smell of a fresh sheet of paper that has no words on it yet? I had that pleasure this morning as I started my next story. So many possibilities ... I can't wait to see where it ends up. Pantsers uber alles!

Thanks CK! I'll have one of those muffins.

I finished this morning's NYT hard Sudoku in 24 minutes. The rest of the morning starts when I drag the garbage bins to the street. Then I'll have my second cup of coffee and Alex can explain his idea to Zelda. Zelda may have her own take on the subject. She always does.

I don't know if the shot is already kicking in, or it's the placebo effect kicking in, but my knee seems to be feeling better this morning. I had anticipated that the shot would hurt but had no real idea how much until it was done. Now I know and I hope it really works because it will take me some time to psych myself up to get it done again.

Enough about me. I've got a fresh pot of coffee going and the teapot is steaming. There are pastries on the counter, including some donuts with handles on them for dunking. The cappuccino machine looks lonely so I hope some of you give it a try today and make it happy.

I'll be over in the corner working on the last scene for my story, a steamy sex scene where our hero finally works up the nerve to go out on a date for the first time ...
hooray for hittin the last little stretch.... for me, knowing the words The End are in sight is always motivating. I hope you get a good push on it today. I feel like I'm hopelessly stalled on my two total novices try BDSM story. I may have to put it aside for awhile and work on something new.

Ah. you did get the final push! great and congratulations!

I forgot to mention that I was serenaded by a murder of crows and a laughter of jays who were in separate trees arguing over who controlled my backyard. It got quite loud before the crows decided to find somewhere else to congregate. The jays then bombed my feeder, emptying it to get to the peanuts among the other seeds in the feeder. Now the squirrels and chipmunks are feasting on all of the sunflower seeds ...
