The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Alleregretto! Exactly what I experienced in Saturday's concert. I had a fistful of notes as it was where my fingers were barely keeping up at the mm140 the music called for, and damn if the conductor was feeling concert nerves and cranked it up to mm165! I fell apart into blurs.

Sadly I had no influence over the tempo. As we were breaking down I asked the 1st-chair flutist, "Was it me, or was Cliff running away with the tempo?" She's been with the group longer than my 20 years. Her answer was, "You know he always does that, right?"

Yeah. I do.

I am running a fever again.

This sucks.

I just want my goddamn life back.
I wish you a quick recovery. I had (have) a cold that would not let go. I left work early on Thursday, locked the bedroom door (because Mrs Duleigh believes that rest and recouperation is for women, not men) and didn't come out from under the covers until this morning. It helped, but I have a list of Honey Do's a mile long waiting for me.

Hmmm ... the story side was down but seems to be up at the moment.

It's -1 degrees Fahrenheit right now with the sun shining brightly. Brrrr. While the knee is a little stiff, I seem to not need the Meloxicam anymore so my blood pressure is now normal and only spiking into the low 140s every once in a while.

I've got a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot. There are snacks galore on the counter and the pile of presents is almost burying the tree. It looks like Christmas morning is going to be a fun time.

I'll be over in the corner working on my story until the pile of gifts spills over into the seating area. I have to admit that I didn't know my Muse was so kinky ...

My vodka tonic last night was made with flat tonic water. How do you open a new bottle of tonic water and it be flat? I've been working since five thirty this morning. I can't believe how much work I've had over the past few weeks. Not complaining, Christmas isn't going to hurt so much this year because of it. Now where's that French press, I've got my beans all ground and nothing to brew them in!

I took my trusty Ranger into the Ford dealer at eight this morning for scheduled maintenance and repair. I'll get it back some day . . .

The trip there took me through parts of town where I used to live but don't usually visit any more. Can't say as I've missed them.

Now, back to the beachy scene in Belize.

I had my pre-op anesthesiologist call this morning. I'm now really amped for my knee replacement surgery. Except, I paced during the call and now my knee is killing me. Snowing again here, but it's not bitter cold. We might actually get above freezing later this week for the first time since late November. Typical highs now should be mid 30's, so this has been unusual, even for us. I guess I lot of the Eastern US has been unusually cold.

I finished another chapter of the draft of my novel this morning. And I got some grading done. I think I could have the last three chapters written by the end of the day tomorrow if I didn't have to do this damned grading. See if I can get some more grading done, then maybe write another chapter. I'm in that mode right now where the words want to come flying out. I hate grading.

does anybody like grading? I have just resolved to give it only slightly more than the time it deserves.

There are actually times I do like providing the feedback. It always becomes drudgery, but that can offset it. Right now, I'm about as anti-grading as I think I have even been. :(

Probably partially mentally checking out towards retirement.
