The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

@MrPixel, we had a bit of luck. The truck turned up at 7.30am today, two days early, which was great. Got the coffee machine set up, followed by the bed and living room. Looking forward to a good night's sleep tonight - hopefully the pup's internal clock will adjust itself soon.
Glad to hear you set things up in the correct order

Baby, it's cold outside despite the bright sunshine. 1 degree right now with a slight breeze to take the windchill well below zero. The birds are all fluffed up and huddling around the vent from my furnace which is pumping warm air outside.

At least the coffee is fresh and hot. The teapot is steaming away and the hot chocolate is on the back burner. There are donuts and some rum balls on the counter. The bowl of Christmas candy is full again. The presents are really piling up under and around the tree. One of the presents for @NotWise looks like it was wrapped, unwrapped, and wrapped again so someone is peeking ...

I'll be over in the corner working on my new story. I got some more words down and, as usual, a tale that started out lighthearted is begining to turn dark and introspective despite my best intentions. Why, oh why, can't I just write a little happy tale?

Who, moi?

Little Boy on Santa's Lap: For Christmas I want a 'letric guitar so when I grow up I can be a famous rock and roll musician

Department store Santa Claus: Sorry kid but you can't have it both ways

Made it out yesterday to do some shopping, which was really good. But I'm paying for it this morning with some extra pain. Got up long enough to eat breakfast and take meds, now I need to lay back down.

I am so tired of being in pain. Yesterday was such a good day. I'm disappointed it didnt last.
just remember that recovery in not lineal. you pushed yourself yesterday, but it sounds like you went a bit too far. the pain is the price for that. There is a reason why there is the saying "no pain, no gain", even though i don't really buy it.Rest, let your body rebuild its reserves, go out again.

Christmas candy? I've somehow managed to survive 68 years without knowing of any Christmas candy other than andy canes.

Our current stock of Christmas candy is mostly "Christmas Crack," which means different things to different people. This one is a thin layer of brittle covered with a layer of fudge and topped with crushed nuts.

never heard of it, but don't eat brittle.
Trying to figure out something for the staff room (40 employees) after not getting out yesterday because of the cold, which limits my range of stops (and office closes friday for the season).

I'm already dreading tonight. Why is it, I love getting off on Friday mornings at 8:00 to start my weekend, and hate Sunday, the last day, because I go back at midnight?

I'd call that time to find a job that you can stand wthout the anticipatory dread.

Actually, once I'm there, it isn't so bad. Other than the inept employees I supervise, bad coffee, boredom, and all the other crap that one has on all jobs where other people are involved. LOL

It's 26 degrees in OKC right now. Thank God, and the repair man, we got that heater sorted out. I'm about to get back to writing, been playing with my son, fixing some lunch for all of us, and having one last cupamagic before back to it. How's everyone's Sunday?

Dang all of you talking about Christmas candy (and other sweet treats). Even my doctor admitted how tough it was going to be to follow her dictums this holiday season about my encroaching Type 2. I'm trying so hard to be good, but I had a cookie yesterday at the concert reception and the ground didn't open under me. But, alas, I sha'n't do it again. I hope.

Concert had C stuck at home all day, and I am paying for it with a pouty partner. Because we can't both leave the house without taking the dog everywhere we go, and I'm the one with activity outside of home, she pays the price. This is why we eat out most of the time - to air her out, limited to a selection of restaurants where the dog can see us from the parking space (extreme separation anxiety). After I'm off here I need to badger her into getting dressed if she expects to go out, like I do nearly every day.

😞

Oh... currently 13° in a big run-up to a high of 14. Low this morning was 7. Ugh. But it's clear and quite sunny. Good day to lay out and work on my tan.

I think even your doctor would agree that one cookie IS "being good". Its about balancing your carbs and sugar, not avoiding them completely. You just offset that cookie by having a very low-carb dinner.

All your 14 degrees this and 26 degrees that makes me think y’all are on the other hemisphere, the one down under, enjoying late spring transitioning into early summer 😛

I weng to a small fun concert this afternoon. An interesting quartet -- flute, cello, guitar and clarinet. @MrPixel I would have preferred an oboe, but that wasn't a choice. It was two couples, both my age or older.

Played an interesting mix, some arrangements (by them) of classic rock (4 by beatles, one from yes). But also some south american music, including a tango and some Brazilian dance music, a traditional french carol and a sone from Mali.

They were very good and it was a lot of fun. And in a beautiful old church (almost 200 years old) I had never been to before.

Broncos win!

My blood pressure didn't skyrocket on this one. The Broncos seemed to take control of the game as soon as Parsons went out.
