The Clinic ~ Ask me anything, I'm a nurse.

Bruising

I have some huge, dark bruises right now that i got last night. They are tender, but they look much worse than they feel.

Is there anything I can do or put on them to make them fade faster?

I tend to be accident prone and a little dangerous so it might be too late for these but I know I will have more soon.

Thank you!

Baking brownies and muffins was my plan. I'm going up to my cottage this weekend and we're gonna' try that, only the preparations are long compared to just rolling a joint or smoking from the pipe. I know I used to have asthma as a toddler, then it went away. If it came back it's most probably due to lack of cardio-exercise.... which I'm gonna' start intensely starting today for at the very least a month.

And do I need to see a specialist to take a peak flow meter? Or can I just wake up a 6:30, stand in line outside for an hour and a half to get an appointment at 3 oclock and do it?

You can see your regular doctor. It's a very basic piece of kit that every GP should have. If you suffer with allergies, don't forget to discuss that because asthma can be triggered by allergies. And you can talk about smoking as though you've taken up smoking cigarettes. The Dr may think you're a moron, but at least you can get an accurate picture of how you're likely to be affected.

And be careful to start exercising gently at first. Stretch your muscles out before you begin, do just a little at first and then build it up. Pay attention to how short of breath or wheezy you get as that's the sort of thing your Dr needs to know.

If you bruise too easily then that's something that maybe needs to be checked out. If you cut yourself, does it take a long time for the bleeding to stop? Bruising too easily and bleeding too long can indicate a problem with clotting. If your blood doesn't begin clotting within 5 or 10 mins, you need to see a doctor.

Arnica cream or lotion is good for bruises and applying ice for 30 mins a few times a day can help. Avoid taking aspirin for pain because it thins the blood and will affect your healing time. Paracetamol is fine though, unless you're allergic of course.

Here is a differant one.

What experiances have you had with insertions that have gone wrong, what excuses have you heard and how much do the Medical professionals laugh (as I know I would)

Thought I was going to have to go to A and E once myself in my younger years ( Girl friends at the time now wife) and I was experimenting with Prostate play! Lesson Learnt!

Oh people were always inserting things. We'd have the same people in every few weeks sometimes, which was exasperating in terms of wasting resources. People insert bottles and lose the caps, fruit/veg that snaps in half during removal. I heard about a guy who some jewellery while anally fisting his boyfriend. A woman lost a vibe in herself that was still going.

The worst case I ever heard of though, and I've seen the x-ray, was a couple who were brought in by paramedics still... attached. The guy had a piercing in his foreskin that got lodged in the wall of her rectum. The pain caused her ass to clamp down on him and he had taken viagra (and I think cocaine) so his penis wouldn't soften. I have no clue how they were actually separated.

Oh, and just a short Public Service Announcement to various guys who have pm'd me about pretty much the same thing.

You cannot have bareback oral or penetrative sex with anyone of any gender without risking an STD. Even pretty cocks and pussies can harbour disease. Accept the risk or keep it in your pants.

There is no excuse for exposing your unwitting spouse/SO to a risk of STDs just because you're desperate for cock or a different cunt/ass. I don't care how precious, neglected or misunderstood you are, MAN the hell up and either leave or be faithful.

And if you can't do that, the very least you should be able to do is bag it the fuck up at all times.

Thank you for your attention. :rose:

Just wanted ask why you think he should lie about what it is he's smoking? Wouldn't Doctor/Patient confidentiality keep his doctor from reporting his drug use. I thought situations like this (where you may need to reveal something to a doctor to get an accurate diagnosis but its something that could cause you trouble if others knew) ws exactly why such rules exist.

Yeah, you're right. He could be honest but if he hasn't got the balls, a half truth would be better than none.

Thanks

These people pm me because they know what they'll get if they post that kind of query here, but sadly I have no magic wand with which to create super-inpenetrable invisible cock forcefields.

Men

Geeze... i think just bagging it would be more pleasant of a thought...

I'm actually always wheezy. It's like I have bronchitis without the coughing... well, at least with less coughing. I really hope this is asthma and nothing more. Or allergies, that would be even better.

But thanks for the advice, though! I decided to cancel my class on monday morning to get up bright and early and head to the clinic. Thanks again.

I wholeheartedly agree!!

Selfish sex = unsafe sex = damaged relationships and partners

Get wise guys!

*wonders "Ohhh.. does that sound too moralising?"*

Worth repeating one more time.:rose:

Sounds like asthma to me as I suffer mildly myself. You should really get checked out and prescribed inhalers if necessary. Allergies and asthma often go together, exacerbating one another for twice the fun, sorry. That makes it doubly important to get both under control though.

Hope the appointment goes well.

It just astounds me though how many men assume that so long as they wear a condom for penetrative sex (which with a special kind of logic, does not include oral) everything will be fine. I think condoms can become a kind of security blanket, allowing some guys to think they can merrily exchange fluids with people so long as their cock doesn't touch them (anywhere except the mouth).

So yeah, newsflash.

Well, if you're not actually touching them, then you're not really having sex, which is great for those that like to fuck around without their partners consent.
Except for oral obviously, but then again everyone knows that oral is the new kiss on the cheek, so that doesn't really count either.

Sir's doctors all know He smokes pot, no one has had a problem with it.
They ask how He copes with pain, and He tells them - simple as that :)
Pot is illegal here. There's no medical marijuana programme like there is in some US states (worse luck :( )

fuckmeat, i think you've already established yourself as a HT regular and i think this thread is a terrific idea!

I know asthma isn't really "curable" but should it be that, is there any chance it'll go away on its own... or would that take years? Would physical exercise (cardio) help or is that more dangerous than anything?

Childhood asthma often resolves itself by adulthood but people who are diagnosed as adults tend to be stuck with it for life, sorry. As with anything else in medicine though, there are always a few walking exceptions to every trend/rule.

It's not curable so much as manageable and once you're on the right meds you should be far less bothered by it. Exercise is always a good thing but you just have to go easy to start with and listen to your body telling you what you can handle. Many asthmatics aren't sprinters but can do a short burst of cardio followed by more gentle exercise that they can then do for quite a while, such as walking or low impact cycling. You could also think about weights to improve muscletone.

I'm joining the gym this week. I've been complaining to myself for the longest time that I have to start getting my heartrate up... and here I am now, stuck with asthma. Lesson learned, I guess.

Thanks a whole lot, this has really helped out. I'm going to the clinic on monday, so I'll know for sure then, but I'm pretty sure it's asthma... triggered by allergies, cuz I'm also sneezing a lot and my nose is leaking. So there you go.

I'm taking a bit of Alegra to help with the allergy symptoms. What I don't understand, though, is that it's not allergy season :S

That all depends on what you're allergic too. It could be that dust mites in your home are triggering this, or perhaps contact with a family pet. Once you become susceptible to allergies I'm afraid there's a whole smorgasbord of random crap that your body can over-react to. Some people with food allergies get sneezy and wheezy when they eat the wrong things. If you're confident it can't be pollen setting you off, you need to start investigating what your triggers are. That's also something your doctor should be able to help with.

I ended up waiting for 2 and a half hours outside the clinic this morning only to be told that the clinic was closed but that the doctor had forgotten to post up the notice... so 20 people ended up waiting in front a 7:00 am for nothing! I'll go to a private clinic tomorrow!

And my last allergy check was 6 years ago, it said I had allergies to bed bugs, pollen, those white, barky trees and apples...

I don't eat apples, so I'm pretty sure it comes from outside, unless I developped new allergies. It might be my cat, but I've lived with cats all my life and never had a problem.

I'll see tomorrow I guess, but thanks just the same for all the advice. Really a big help!

'Beg bugs' basically means dust mites, unless you let your bed get infested with parasites. Try hoovering/dusting your place, including the bed, and see if it makes a difference. Knowledge is power hon.
