I don't know this band. Can you share anything of theirs with us?

Absolutely! They've had several songs (around 5, not bad for having only released two albums thus far) make serious radio time on any station that plays new rock. The first and arguably most popular was "Judith" ("It's not like you killed someone/It's not like you drove a spiteful spear into his side"), but both "Weak and Powerless" and "The Outsider" have been played a lot in the past couple of months.

The lead singer (and I believe the main creative force behind the music) is Maynard James Keenan, frontman of Tool, if you're more familiar with that group.

Thank you, Quint. My daughter knows this band and is going to play me some. I'm kind of out of touch with a lot of the newer music, I admit that. I've kinda gotten into a musical rut.

Do you know Five for Fighting? I like them and was just introduced to their music recently.

Okay I am really showing my age now... but it was Three Dog Night in their prime.... songs life Try a Little Tenderness and Easy to be Hard among others are classics.

Chicago when they were fresh and new...

The Dooby Brothers... such a fantastic show that was... I can still hear them playing Smoke on the Water and that was when it was a top 40 hit not an oldie....

The Loving Spoonful...

The Trogs...

The best by far was the Moody Blues....

Liza Minelli.... oh what a performer she was when she was young.

There were others but the memory is elusive....

Sorry, hun...The Doobies didn't do "Smoke on the Water". Now, their name does imply that, though.

the memory is elusive!

What is it exactly that you don't understand?

Maybe I was vague in my reference, or the reference itself isn't as wide spread as I thought.

It was something said, when people would drink and then go swimming (I did a lot of swimming, when I was younger). They would drown, because their senses were dulled, in situations that wouldn't exist, when sober. It went along with the "drinking and driving don't mix".

See, I noticed both song titles had the word water in them, and well, my emagination tends to ramble. This explanation has done so, too.

Just go with it, OK?

Didn't any one ever tell you that water and wine don't mix?

And, maybe the pepper spray is still in my system.

Duh.... I did not see the last part.

I understand now!

Still friends?
Well, that last part wasn't in the original post. I added it, when I thought it could be a factor.

Still, you have never heard that saying? Like I said, it was for boaters or swimmers, during tue summer months. Just like they said "drinking and driving don't mix" they also said "Water and wine don't mix". It was meant to be a catchy thing, so you would remember. Well, maybe some of us didn't catch on?

OK, if not, forget it. It could be I only heard it in my area, and someone took it from the other saying and kind of converted it to fit.

this is confusing
Llfe is confusing. That's partly what makes it so interesting, sometimes.

Just let it go. That's what the voices in my head are saying to do.

Remember where I am from? In the bible belt that would be a moot point...

However, it is not a say that I have ever heard...

I will keep it in mind for future use....:rose:

See that you do! One can never be too careful when dealing with libation and aquatics. And stay away from pepper spray, too. Nasty, nasty stuff! :(

Does that include drinking gin and tonics and paddle boating?

you know, if I didn't know what you were talking about, I'd say you were drinking and then getting on a boat just to get paddled.

In reality, you're getting into a boat, and then getting snackered on gin. But, you know, those paddles can be used for other things, and your inhibitions would be lowered, when snackered.

Just curious...
Does a gin and tonic have a twist of lime in it?

EDITED to add

No need to answer that in a hurry. I need to get to sleep. Sorry, if I've rambled enough to cause drinking.
