OK. Batting average is calculated over the course of the season and is a cumulative average. It is simply the number of times a player comes up to hit (at bats) divided by the number of hits the player makes. In baseball a .300 average is excellent which means they are averaging 3 hits for every 10 at bats. Does that make sense?

I haven’t read everyone’s comments but there’s a difference between at-bats and plate appearances.

That is very correct! I was Signals in the Army so with all the comms and IT systems it was exponentially greater set beyond the standard Amy ones
