Hubby had several British army friends who visited. I couldn't stop laughing. I mean, it's not like I was being mean but you have to admit that British English is different enough plus toss in the accent....

Theres an old myth about the origin of modern French transitioning from Latin that I wish were true. Something about the workers skilled in printed language getting paid per letter to paint royal decrees....
