The Cozy Corner

I'm a diehard Tomoe River user as well so that'll be easy. For a while, that paper was the hardest thing to get in Aus until I found someone who made custom notebooks with it and ordered a bunch. At risk of turning this into an almanac, I'll list five in each category and try to incorporate the colours you do/would use. I'll only list inks that I've had experience with and can swear by recommending or have had reviews from IRL friends. If you don't have a Kakimori Dip Nib already, it's great for ink testing and swatching.

General Purpose
- Troublemaker Abalone. Blue ink that shades purple. Has subtle shading but is generally okay for office use.
- Iroshizuku Fuyushogun. A moody grey ink with undertones of blue. This might be the grey for you.
- Diamine Coral. A fan favourite if you like coral inks. It's a salmon coral colour and has really good flow.
- De Atramentis Document Fog Grey. I use this as a highlight on my watercolours too. Bit of a specialty ink but it dries pretty quickly on Tomoe River.
- J. Herbin Vert Atlantide. A really beautiful dark forest green. This one is really poetic for letters.

Sheening/Shading
- Robert Oster Tinseltown. Blueish-purple ink that shimmers gold. The mica is very eye-catching but a good pen flush is recommended after you're done with this.
- Organics Studio Nitrogen. Notoriously long dry time but somewhat of a cult ink for its legendary red sheen.
- Sailor Dipton Ice Dance. Blue with an aurora borealis-like silvery shimmer. Iridescent.
- Colorverse Witch by Starlight. One of my recent favourites. A multitonal, witchy purple colour that evokes the magickal arts. Some blue and pink tones. It's a very special ink.
- Wearingeul Frankenstein. Soft spot for Gothic literature but this also happens to be a very pretty, vibrant azurite purple with a violet undertone. Good shading variation.
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback.

I went with Diamine couldn’t find coral so I found a 6 pack with a nice selection of colors one including a grey. The Diamine was spoke of frequently in the FB group that uses the Hobonichi journal. I put the pilot on my list as it’s a very pretty color. I read more on the “extra ones” which require flushing of the pen and how they may clog a fine point so I decided to wait until I have a bit more experience.

I have a few Lamy pens (not super expensive) but each one is a different nib. My favorite is the extra fine so I’ll try these out with the medium nib.
