Legends Run Deep

In the heart of the Indian nations,
Radiate the legends of time.
Written in many books
Their stories are told in rhyme.
.
A peaceful nation living upon this land
satisfied to wander and be free...
They were not a threat
Of harm to any race,
They just wanted to be free..
.
I did not write the stories of the legends.
I was not there to witness their fall.
I read the history books, listened to the stories.
The stories that recalled all the abominations
.
A quiet nation of a proud people
Being driven across the vast land...
Being treated and herded like cattle,
their territories and belonging
taken from their hand.
.
This was not a one time event
ALL the Indian nations were treated so.
All American Indians were
badly mistreated and abused.
We must fight for all of them.
.
We must stand tall so they take notice...
Until we stand united as one
we all suffer from that greed.
.
Whatever your kindred spirits
Show heritage with pride.
You are a proud nation.

American Native Indians
Listen to your mighty elders legends
and let them tell you the stories.

Hell Bent To Survive
Spirit’s Shadow ©

You were the light in my life
You were my precious boy
You were ornery from day one
Always into trouble
But one look in those pale yellow eyes
I saw an old soul
I saw how you defied the odds
You were a scraper
I named you Tigger
Because deep inside I saw the Tiger
Even though your pointy chin
Reminded me more of the elusive cougar
Your poor little eye
With it’s chronic pink eye
Gave you that rough
And tumble look

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d104/AngeloftheMist/March2005008.jpg

You took on the world
Like hell on wheels
You ran your little kingdom
Like the Prince you were
I will always remember
You little cries for attention
Your insistence of being cuddled
You paw reaching under the door
Your buddy will miss you
As will we all
Don’t worry bout Rocky
He’ll be just fine
And we’ll know you’re with us
All the time
You’ll be in my dreams
And there I can hold you once more
My precious little one
You lived your short little life to the fullest
Hell bent to survive
Rest now my sweet one
Sleep the sleep of the angels
And I’ll see you on the other side

I would like to thank everyone that has read and commented on my poems. Everything you say is very much appreciated. Thank you so much.

Wyld: such a dear sweet woman, the depth of your emotions and love come to the forefront of your beautifully penned poems. :rose:

Spirit: my beautiful and wonderful friend; it is not just the beauty I see around you, but the depth of your beauty in your heart and the words in which you pen. :rose:

Victoria: my sweet lovely victorian lady. First, I am honored that you highlight my poems, and Second, I truly appreciate the friendship that has grown between us. And I, mi lady, will always be your victorian gentleman. *bowing slightly, I hand you a single white rose, then place a soft delicate kiss upon your soft fragile hand.* :rose:

And to all that I missed, Thank you. For your comments never go unnoticed and are greatly appreciated.

hugs kisses and love to all and to the fine gentlemen - handshakes

~ BB8 - my refined Victorian gentleman. Your manners are indeed those of the Gentlemen of that long ago era, and I love it when you polish them and let them shine, so that all may see - and catch a glimpse of how a man comported himself in days long gone.

~ Thank you for allowing me to 'showcase' your works. After a long talk with Shadow, we agreed, that for some reason - and why this is, we do not know - but - poems always seems to read easier - and have more fluidity - flowing off the tongue softer when read aloud - when aligned to the centre of the page.

~ I do hope and pray that your health is improving with each passing day. And on those days - when they flare at their worst - do as you must, and know you are in our thoughts.

~ *Tucks the kiss into the centre of the rose, and places the flower into the Waterford Crystal vase that sits upon her desk - as she keeps the love of her dear friend close*

White Wolf:

Can you see her as she prowls the lonely darkness?
The moon does not reflect off the white coat.
She hears him in the night, yet she must let him find her.
The mistress moon shadows her from him as would a
jealous woman from her adversary.
She can not return the cry to him.
The wind has stolen her voice.
Fate has laid the cards down, it is he who must seek her.
Oh the cruel night once help sweet repoire now it
holds her hostage.
Her eyes can not reflect the blood red passion that
her mate seeks.
She is the white wolf.
She is his kindred spirit.
She is his life...
He Hears not his life mate, as she walks the deep shadows of the dark.
Raising his head he calles her name.
But no answer rings through the trees.
Following a path long since cold.
He searches for that which is his soul, his life.
Memories of their playing. her soft white coat.
Her promise.
Crying in rage at the bailfull moon.
You hold she that is mine.
That which is mine to posses.
Mine to own.
Suddenly a scent.
A memory.
An unnamed thing to put him on the path.
He breaks into a run crying her name in challenge.
Crying his longing into the night.
I will posses you he cries.
For you are mine.
You are the white.

<Fades back into the shadows>

~ Very beautiful, Thian - it's most haunting. It's as if I can hear the plaintive cry of the lone wolf - as he seeks his life's mate - the one he remembers from long ago. One can almost hear the crunching of the dead leaves as he runs through the underbrush calling her, challenging her to answer him. I can feel the gooseflesh rise on my arms as I imagine his breath - being seen as steam - once he picks up her scent - and taking the path she travelled - even though now cold - he knows he will find her soon - and they will be as one - again.

~ Eerily chilling - a wonderful write.

Thank you for gifting us with this lovely piece. *Wonders if you are watching from behind the shadows that keep you hidden*

You Came To Me ©

You came to me
As a small bundled
Ball of fur
You cried, you mewled
And I felt my heartstrings stir

You snuggled up against me
And my heart began to sing
I felt your love surround me
Like an Angel's feathered wing

The years flew by too fast
You were my pride and joy
You are gone from me now
My darling baby boy

I hear your muted cries
And feel your love surround me
As your kisses rain down upon me
From the overcast, snow-filled skies

Sleep peacefully my most precious angel
I know you're never far from me
Know I still love you
Know that I still miss you

The comfort I keep with me
As I slowly pace the floor
Is that you will be there to greet me
When I walk through Heaven's door.

Warnings
.

Come my little braves and squaws
Let me tell you the story of warnings.
.
The men in blue coats were told to keep away
By the Indian scouts that led you through
But they wouldn’t heed there warnings
Those men who dressed in blue.
.
The Warriors were many on this day
All the Indian nations, Banded together
And hid as they were
To face the men in blue.
.
The general and his staff were in the lead
And ordered you what to do
Solders in blue you should have gone
against this man
Who led the solders dressed in blue.
.
On you came regardless of the signs
That the warriors had left for you
You thought you were unconquerable
Such Arrogance had the men in blue.
.
The General divided his men and went three ways
A foolish thing to do
But still you came forth to fight the fight
Those Solders dressed in blue.
.
We chased you as you retreated back to the circled wagons
Our arrows flew true this day
They left the solders lying on the field
All those Men now dressed in red and blue.
.
Many warriors and solders were lost this day
You can still to this day hear the cries and moans
Of all those brave spirits on the battlefield
As we remember these historic tales
