Still More Old Russian Rifle
Coat #2 of the wood oil is drying - it will probably be slower than the first one was, which seemed to soak in quickly. The bore is still a mess. It is dark from the old-style corrosive primers used until the last 40 years or so, but the rifling is still sharp and prominent. The crud is giving it up, but there just is a lot of it....

Old Russian Rifle Ad Nauseum
Have rubbed down the second coat of oil finish and applied the third and last. The bore is about as good as it is going to get - certainly clean enough to shoot. Actually, shooting it may dislodge some of the remaining crud in the rifling and soften some of the other, making it easier to clean after firing.
The bolt has been stripped, cleaned, and reassembled. All the remaining parts are clean and ready to reassemble in the morning. Compared to its twin, this rifle is very bright and clean looking - a vast improvement.

Oogie you are outfitted way better than I am, my only console is the Gamecube and my pc is still outfitted with a mere GeForce3 (I'll probably wait for the NV30).
I didnt know there were so many details released about Vice City already. You will really be able to rape people? Thats going to be real controversial. Entering buildings will be cool too, I just wish they wouldnt wait so long before releasing it for the PC this time. Did you know it takes place in the 80's?

need tech help
when i left click once on a picture file.. whether it's in my pictures or any other folder...it won't preview on the left side of the window.. i have *view as web page* selected under *views* and checking view as thumbnail doesn't fix the problem.. any ideas????????

Reassembled Old Russian Rifle....
You know, if I had a webcam, I could have photographed this whole process and made it more interesting....
The old battle implement is reassembled, with no leftover parts.It is sweet and clean, with a very light oil on all the metal surfaces, an oiled stock which looks lighter and somewhat handsomer than it did. It is clean and functional. I will continue over the next few days to get the rest of the old fouling out of the barrel. It's just going to take awhile.
This little project preserves a small part of history and makes a relic fully functional again....this is right up my alley!!!
