I have been out of town for the last few days and I just looked at my score. At one time, after ten votes, it stood at 4.78. That was the high point. Since then, although it only has 24 votes, the score has been dropping drastically. The emails and PC are generally complimentary but the score keeps dropping. Is it possible that some votes just don't register?

Wow! good for you to have had 4.78. I don't think I've broken 4 with the proper training of a roommate. I noticed a technical error (should've had a proofreader after all, I suppose), so maybe that has something to do with it. From the posted comments, it seems that some dudes just don't like the idea of dominant femmes.

I expected it to be a rougher ride than usual, since it is a contest: more competitive. It is fun, though and I've been so impressed by many of the entries. Great stuff, and so varied in theme and style.

Okay... I had to giggle....

Mine finally has enough votes but the score is low because of one-bombs. If there is a sweep, the score will improve but there won't be enough votes, unless I add a lot more. I can't help but think that some votes somehow don't register. I get emails or PC from people saying they have voted but the score and the vote total don't change.

Then of course there are the usual haters (ya know the ones that just hate me, I will tip my hat to you all now, arseholes) that one bomb my writings for fun

Liz, I think you enter the contests for the same reasons I do. Not for expectations of winning, but for the camaraderie of our fellow authors where we can commiserate with each other on threads like this one.

We can post "How-to" essays or stories or poems anytime we want to, or any time we want to inform or regale our readers. In fact, that's what everybody usually does. However, when I enter contests, it is for the reasons I gave in my last post.

hm almost done with a first version of my other how to piece (the one about traveling and sex)... but i am not very sure about it yet. somehow i am constantly worried to say things that come across wrongly... and i couldn't think of many anecdotes, and i wanted to have anecdotes in it. hm anyway... anyone who'd want to read it and tell me if it works or what parts i need to work on a bit more?
