Liz, I think you enter the contests for the same reasons I do. Not for expectations of winning, but for the camaraderie of our fellow authors where we can commiserate with each other on threads like this one.

I would add that the contest support threads seem to recruit people to join in the AH discussions.

How many of us first started in the AH as a result of entering, or thinking about entering, one of the contests?

There is always the chance of winning the Last Place (tm) accolade.

Sack was a little tired of the whole literotica scene and also had a lot to deal with with his parents. His dad was really sick and not expected to live much longer and his mom had to have surgery. I haven't seen him on aol recently. I'll drop him a line and se if he answers.

Jim and his wife were having a little "discussion" about his writing erotica. She wasn't very happy about it and the last thing I remember was him telling me that she said either your sex stories or me. I guess we figured out which one he choose.

I'm really sorry to hear of his parent situation, the other I can understand. I dropped him an e-mail a couple of weeks ago, no reply. If you do manage to contact him, tell him I'm thinking of him, been there and know what it's like.

Don't think so. Either way, I'm likely to lose out, I'm fairly sure a sweep will put me below the vote threshold with too high a score for last place.
Now the one they wouldn't let me enter - that's a Last Place Winner, a score in the 3's and only 13 votes and I've never pushed a story so hard! For next year I've the perfect 'How To Write a Back Clicker'.

No, and I'm getting vertigo. Posted my bit of rubbish in a hurry - popped in to see it on Friday and things looked good. Then, like falling from a precipice, I've plumetted. The guy says I should regard it as a compliment. Apparently, if I've been seriously trolled, it means that, for once, I've written something above the ordinary - we should look on trolling as a medal of excellence.

I demand a sweep, I want to be a bungee not a kami-kaze.

Lizzy, you musn't stop submitting for the contests, it happens to us all. If you stop then the trolls have won.

hm that with the holiday weekend might also explain why my second story isn't up yet - usually the contest stories seem to be up within less than 24 hours, but not this one...
