The How To Contest Support Thread

I'm not - completely lacking in inspiration on anything I know enough about to try and instruct on, good bad or indifferent!

How about "How to buy a sexy black corset on Ebay and how to wear it"?

Don't think I could stretch that to 750 words...

Then how about, "how to stretch the lingerie with a partner's help"? :)

Good morning everybody :rose:
to answer the question about why my story's comments are turned off -- it's because usually the mere mention of "student financial aid counselor" inspires the villagers to get out the torches & pitchforks.

I've been pleasantly surprised tho' by the number of directly sent comments that include words like 'uplifting' and 'decency.' THANKS to all who took the trouble to write. I'm tickled pink, and humbled.

Have a great weekend, ya'll. :cattail:

(ps, sorry about the suspenders, drk, I thought I had them snapped on but they do tend to zing across the room. Just put a raw steak on that)

I have to say I am more than somewhat embarrased by my entry into the contest.

It is filled with numerous typos and grammatical errors. I wrote it rather hastily, and upon editing decided to change the point of view. I thought I caught most of the necessary changes, and the missing conjunctives. And I was horrified after I posted it and began to read. I posted a supposedly finished work that clearly needed serious additional editing.

In my defense, which is really my indictment, I wrote and edited this in a hurry. I should have put much more time into the editing and polishing process. I apologize for the sloppy work.

And the campaigning for last place intensifies.

I submitted another story. So far, no word. If I get two rejections for two different stories in the same category in just over 24 hours, that should count for something... :D

If you submit an edit, it will be processed within around 48 hours. It is worth a try!

I even voted for it.

It is cool. Finally a How-To I can forward to people without revealing I like ....

:p

My sure fire campaign for last place honors has been foiled

My second How To contest entry is up and has gained some pretty favorable comments and great votes so far. Thank you, everyone!

Shopping for Sex Toys at WalMart

(The title, not my plans for the afternoon)

I once went looking for sex toys at Home Depot...sort of like a scavenger hunt.

(Hmmmm idea for a new story?)

Well, thinking about the story has certainly made my retail excursions a lot more enjoyable lately. The title popped into my head months ago and I struggled to find the story that went with it. When the How To contest was announced, I was inspired.

A thank you  for your vote and your comments from a good little kiss.

Last Place

The Author's Hangout Last Place (tm) Contest will be run on this How-To contest.

It seems a shame that I'm disqualified. My entry is sinking deeper into the mire.

I think some of the genuine voters are punishing everyone for actually writing How-Tos instead of stories. Perhaps they don't appreciate being educated - free. ;)

The fate of your entry is just more proof that some Lit voters have very questionable taste.

I sometimes wonder if your hypothesis isn't valid, especailly among readers who click on the entry from the NEW list and may not be aware it's a contest entry.

24 hours and no posts to this thread?

Are we under-inspired by How-To?

Where are the dozens of entries?

Where are the VOTES (apart from the trolls who are omnipresent)?

Read, Vote, leave PCs and feedback - please?

I second that ... I am in such a tragic situation, even the sweeps are passing me by ...

My 2 cents...

Pretty good when you post a "how to" and someone comes along and comments (votes) and obviously doesn't have a clue as to what they're talking about.

I guess its meant to stimulate conversation, but how can one talk to an idiot?

Yep, it would appear so. The lack of entries is lamentable. Oh well, it just makes the odds for winning the Last Place Award so much more favourable.
