the ear canal itself hurts; i noticed when i scratched it. it doesn't hurt inside yet, but the opening of the ear canal is very sore

It's probably just irritated, but if it doesn't get better in a few days, I'd go to the doctor.

I know this sounds weird but it always helps when my ear hurts like that. warm up some Hydrogen peroxide and drip a few drops into your ear. pu t apiece of cotton in it and leave it there for 20 minutes. it helps me.
